2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition
BBlink replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
A lot of time before the next Grey Cup. Your mind may change. And if he struggles there's no stopping us from doing what we did this past year. I think this is saying that Osh liked what he saw from Mourtada and were not paying big money for a kicker the entire year -

To be fair he did make 12 of his last 13 kicks (field goals and converts) before Castillo took over. -

First penny pinch - Mourtada over Castillo? Also a chance that Castillo will be trying NFL. -

Good question. Obviously we need to start with signing the guys that have been key to our success. Collaros, our offensive line, our defensive line. Walters will be really busy trying to work out contracts to keep us from overspending. Some may have to take discounts. I'd imagine we will lose an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman. As much as it pains me to say it, we may have to lose one of the big 3 on our defensive line as it is much more difficult to substitute Canadians. Bighill will be an interesting signing as he took a massive paycut and then became DPOTY. So we will need to find some money for him. Would Willie do the same this year? Jeffcoat probably doesn't make as much as he should be making. Someone else that may need to take a paycut is Andrew Harris. Great player. Has been everything to this team to get us back to our Grey Cup winning ways. But he was hurt most of the year and we have Oliveira and Augustine that have shown they can carry the mail. It will be really interesting and will require some surgical precision to get most of the team back. You have to imagine that this team has three-peat in the back of their mind which will help a lot. Good luck Walters. -
With all that's going on in the world, Bomber fans have had 2 years with the feeling of being Grey Cup champs. And that's pretty swell. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Bring on the 3peat

I think about this every so often too. One of their 4 Grey cups was against a QB that had never started a game. And he still would have beaten them without that bad call

And Lapo. Gotta think someone will be plucked. When you're at the top everyone is looking to steal some of your special sauce -

I'm expecting to lose a coach or assistant GM. I wonder how often it doesn't happen with a Grey Cup winning team. -

It was one of those things where you aren't sure if they made the play or not. With replay you sometimes never know! -

Honestly I wasn't sure if we had won for what felt like 30 seconds. -
Darby made a lot of big plays that game too. Shrewd pick up by Walters

No question there is a competitive imbalance based on the rules/laws/whatever. -

I thought Kolankowski was out scratch on Sunday when Harris was able to play. So maybe he would step up? But I see he's on the 1 game IR. Maybe that's not up to date -

This Bomber team is good. Got a scare in the WF. I have to believe we'll get the best out of our team in the Grey Cup. I like our chances -
3 start another pretender crowned and Grey Cup bound

Collaros was 17/21 but unfortunately 3 of the 4 were not incompletions at all. Obviously not a great game by his standards but we moved the ball all day. Just have to clean it up for next week and we'll be fine -

1. Defense 2. Fans 3. Harris Tbh our offense didn't seem that bad today but it's insane how often we gave the ball up -
Don't worry about it man. Happens to a lot of us. I had a similar episode a couple months ago where I was seriously questioning going to the hospital. Then you calm down and everything is fine. I do agree with you though that edibles is not for us anxious folk.
-
Yeah as much as we talk about it I don't think the bad weather benefits us. One of the teams has a downfield passing game. But we just gotta trust our defense
-
IIRC our defensive backfield was also in Flux and we didn't have Stove
-
I think I'd take Toronto at this point. I'm not convinced MBT is a Grey Cup winning QB. That and the Grey Cup is in Hamilton. If they want to try to run the ball on us like they did last time I'd say good luck with that. We will be ready. Btw I'm not saying I'm too afraid of Hamilton either. But overcoming their home field advantage is one of those things that could be real tough
-
The QBs that have played best against us this year were Maier and Arbuckle. Neither we have to see for the rest of the year. I'm good with that.
-
Still a Lawler follower but as this year has gone on I've become much more of a Baily Booster. So dynamic for a big strong guy.
-
I think Buck has done a great job balancing the offense. He could have just relied on Harris like Lapo did in 2019 but Buck made the decision to develop a passing game. I'm not an X's and O's guy but it seems that a lot of our passing plays are built on the fact that we have a really good o line. Less slants. More pushing the ball down the field. Fits Collaros really well too. And somehow (partly Collaros, partly the scheme) the risk of interceptions seems low too.

Moving on...Let's ******* go Bombers! Sask sucks
