  1. Absolute insanity! https://barrie.ctvnews.ca/mobile/opp-probe-threatening-letter-that-claims-destruction-of-muskoka-beaches-1.3926223 Tl;dr: Islamic group threatens to destroy beaches in Northern Ontario to protest women wearing bikinis.
  2. My original post was in reference to political activism being a career limiting move, not whether it is morally right or not. And that point still stands.
  3. I don't see how any of those people's careers were helped by those decisions.
  4. Lots of misinformation in this post, especially the fact that Medicare doesn't negotiate drug prices. Read this for a more balanced take: https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2018/05/14/the-trump-plan-to-reduce-prescription-drug-prices-will-have-a-major-impact/#4759b462691f
  5. I'm curious if the Durant shitstorm has left us with any additional cap room. I know we're out 70k... and we still have to pay a backup QB but the total salary is likely much less than Durant's. Say the new backup salary is 120k less than Durant's, then that gives us 50k to play with. Some funny math no doubt, but the general idea being we may have a few bucks to throw at a stud like Bighill.
  6. Could be difficult given their salary, production and contract details. Little is also under a No-Move clause until after 2020, which then becomes a modified no-trade. Perreault is under a modified no-trade as well.
  7. OK I'll get back to you in 20 years.
  8. At this point I'm confident Demski, Wolitarsky, and Simonise will be on the opening day roster. Thera-Plamondon and Tyrone Pierre are pretty much exclusively special teams guys (but could make the roster as the fourth NI receiver based on that). LaFrance may factor into the receiver picture at times, meaning we only dress one backup NI receiver. Petermann and Henry could both use some practice roster time, IMO.
  9. I don't see any way we can afford to keep Wheeler unfortunately.
  10. No way he gets 8M. That's too high.
  11. It works in our favour that Trouba doesn't put up big numbers. You can question the value of points totals in determining how good a defenceman plays but it still plays a huge role in contract negotiations.
  12. Love seeing this. I wonder what the price tag will be? 6 mil? More? Less? Defencemen salaries are hard to predict.
  13. Buff was the only one that actually saw what was going on and tried to get back into the play.... really bad change by all five guys on the ice and bruuuuutal giveaway by KC
  14. As if Israel is the only issue here. It's not like Palestinians are eager to get back to the negotiating table. Let's not forget Camp David. There are two sides at play and neither one seems eager for a resolution. And both sides are guilty of widespread violence against the other.
  15. You can't really argue that it wasn't a poor decision for his career.
  16. Yeah... Even I found it a little distasteful. However the "fair Middle East peace agreement" is a pipe dream. It's been long enough that I think we can all see that's never going to happen.
  17. Just another one of those games. It's tough at this point and if you ain't on, you ain't winning. I'm not worried.
  18. I would disagree. People have been dying in droves in Palestine for years because no president was willing to commit to a resolution. Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital moves them closer to resolving the conflict. The dream of a two state solution is dying. Unfortunately change brings conflict and conflict brings violence. But decades of fence sitting by previous presidents did nothing but extend the deadlock. Trump deserves credit for a actually taking steps towards a resolution, even if it's not resolution you'd like. Did you ever really think the issues in Israel and Palestine were going to be resolved peacefully?
  19. Oh now every person who dies in Israel and Palestine is Trump's fault? That's a reach.
  20. Well that settles it. Enstrom has to come out of the lineup now that Jan Kostalek is available.
  21. I thought we could use BC's. But I'm still a little confused by the wording on 3DN - Reverse order would put us 3rd, no?
  22. Honestly I'm not even sure what the issue is here. Sounds like a typical relationship. Even with a power imbalance that's not necessarily wrong. Maybe I am missing some details.
  23. Could be though? 3rd overall if I'm understanding the rules correctly.
  24. When you're talking about a (former) government employee and an elected official, I think it's fair to say that's a power imbalance. Certainly if the veteran was female and the MP male, it wouldn't even be a question.
  25. It is definitely more common to sign with the original club but players sign elsewhere fairly regularly. Hard to put a number on it without going through on a case-by-case basis. Rich mentioned Okpalaugo... there was also Quincy McDuffie and Mitchell White last year.
