The Ellsworth bump was rough. I think it was supposed to be rough but not that bad. He was supposed to land on his feet a little more but they clipped the top rope on the way over. That would be my assumption. One of the announcers said "Ellsworth is going to need a hip replacement!!!" Ummm... yup.

Jeff Perrett can definitely still play but not at the huge salary he was likely receiving. Maybe time to move him inside to Guard ala Gene Makowsky at the end of his career.

I would expect his agent to gauge interest. He will only be 26 so there may still be some teams who would give him a look... maybe not a serious look but an opportunity nonetheless. The question is whether he is at a point in his life where he would want to take a shot at the NFL with the very slim chance of making it or take starter money in the CFL if it is being offered to him.

The Skills competition is for the kids. They love it. Yeah it's kinda lame but not everything has to be tailored to the middle-aged hardcore sports fan.

You assume that you can find good players with bad stats but are unwilling to look. It's easy to prove anything incorrect when you only have to do it in your mind, free from the bounds of logic, facts and reason.

It doesn't look good in Argo-land but if they are able to land a superstar GM/HC combo then things could turn around real quick. With the Riders there isn't really any such hope.

I think what it comes down to, is that if you are disagreeing with what the numbers say, you've gotta have a pretty good argument as to why. Those arguments exist in certain cases and are perfectly valid but sitting around saying "Well that just shows we shouldn't trust statistic XYZ" doesn't really advance the conversation at all.

Every team (to my knowledge) has an analytics department now to some degree. It's a tool to be used like any other. Looking ONLY at Corsi, etc is a mistake and writing it off completely is also a mistake.

And let's be honest... when your boss gets fired you probably aren't feeling super secure in your position. Even if it's not more money, why wouldn't he take an NFL opportunity right now? It will only increase his reputation in the CFL and someday a desperate team will probably throw a bunch of cash at him to come back and run their team.

Well the Flames did make it to the SC finals the year after he left, with lots of players he acquired or drafted. He basically built most of that team. Picks such as Matthew Lombardi, Eric Nystrom, Chuck Kobasew, and David Moss. He drafted Jarrett Stoll as well but not sure he was ever a player for Calgary? Either way not a stellar record but hardly a disaster. I'm not a huge fan of his.

Yeah I like Cato. Not sure if he's a better option than Davis, I'd like to see them both here competing for the backup job.

Can't argue with too many of his grades for the players but I would say Little deserves better than a B, as one of our best forwards... Chiarot and Armia should probably get a D rather than a C. He makes a great point about goaltending, penalties, and PK% being the main issues. Something has to be done about that.
