Game 63 : Islanders @ Executive Decision
sweep the leg replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I understand your point with a cut, not so much with a slash. In my experience playing/watching hockey, the first strong reaction to a slash is anger, not fear that you're critically injured. When a guy's a known diver, I tend not to give him the benefit of the doubt. Agree to disagree I suppose. -

Leddy made one of the softest plays I've ever seen during the shift where Peluso got hurt. The puck was along the boards and he was right in front of it. He looked over his shoulder, saw Thorburn coming, and did some weird spin move to get out of the way and give Thorburn the puck. He's a pretty good player, but I thought that was brutal. -

It's impossible to say for sure how much pain a guy is really in, but that certainly looked "embellished" to me. Maybe he just has a really low pain threshold... -
I guess it's up for interpretation as to who replaced who. It's logical to say Copp replaced Slater. After that any of them can probably can be argued. Petan was in our opening day lineup on the 4th line, so I'd say that's who got Stempniak's spot. Ehler's instead of Tlusty and Burmi for Frolik is how I see it.
-
I've given them plenty of credit. Good move by them, too bad it wasn't us. Frolik's been a "15 & 40ish" guy his entire career. Burmi was somewhat of a dud as his replacement, but it was still probably good for us that he walked. Fun fact: Lee Stempiak's career best point total is higher than Frolik's best.

Assuming this flying DeLorean is for time travel, it wouldn't matter when it was given to him, as he would now be able to travel to any time he wanted.
-
Such a valuable guy to have. No brainer that he'd command a big return.
-
We don't have the elite pp talent around Wheeler that Stempniak has in NJ to pad his stats.
-
Getting a 2nd rounder for Roman Polak might be the best return for anybody. Flames got pretty close to the same return for Russell as they did for Iginla.
-
Maybe he could borrow your crystal ball.
-
I'd take a chance on Yak. No chance I give up anything more than a 2nd rounder and a middling prospect though.
-
Is anybody saying Stempniak is a saviour? Pretty big difference between that and thinking he would have helped our bottom six. Fantastic signing by the Devils. Got 20 goals and (likely) a decent draft pick out of him for under $1M.

The Maatta deal is very good for the Pens.

I've only been to one Moose game, but that's pretty much how I saw it, except Armia was already gone by then. Melchiori was probably their best dman that day. The difference in the quality of passing/playmaking between the leagues is ridiculous.

Remember when Dudley Guice Jr. went from our pr to the NFL? Training camp invites to the NFL mean you have great measurables, not necessarily that you're a great football player. -

Exactly. That's how we ended up with Shannon Boatmen starting three years into his regime. -
That would be an interesting move. Make a deadline trade with the Islanders that includes future considerations that becomes Hamonic when the playoffs are over. I can't think of an instance where something like that has ever happened before. Is that even legal? There would have to be a lot of concern from the Jets if he got hurt while still playing for the Islanders.

Burmistrov, Peluso, & Pavelec for a 1st is my favourite.

I thought this was going to be an all time list. Clark and Howe would murder us.

http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-draft-rankings-the-next-ones-february-edition/ This link gives the scout ranking from The Hockey Writers, Bob McKenzie, Central Scouting, and one other. Tkachuk is the consensus #4. Matthews consenus #1, with the Finns at #2 & #3. Cyhchrun is #5 for 3 of 4 lists.

Calgary will be dumping pending UFA's at the deadline for prospects. That's how they're hoping to get Murray.
-
Calgary's been after Matt Murray from the Pens. Offering Kris Russell for him. They'll have to add to that to get Murray though. He's too good to trade for a rental.
-
It seems like there's a big drop from the top 4 guys to everybody else. I wouldn't be too concerned about trying to move up if we get one of those picks, but I'd certainly entertain moving a dman along with our pick to get up to #1 if we don't.
-
Boedker would be my #1 target if I was looking for help at the deadline. Can play either wing, good in both ends, and stupid fast.
