Christmas Classics/Traditions
sweep the leg replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
Love the Garfield Christmas. Love Actually is my wife's favourite Christmas movie. That, along, with Home Alone, Scrooged, & Christmas Vacation are our must watches each year. I also like Elf & Charlie Brown, but they're in the "only if we have time" category. -
Game 33 : Jets @ spOilers
sweep the leg replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I definitely thought we would beat the Ducks. We were the better team in 3 of 4 games, which made it even more frustrating. -

Okposo's stats are helped by playing with Tavares. I'm not sure I'd pay Okposo that much to hope he can do it without him. -

He's a decent hire if he's not your OC. -
Interesting timing for this argument. I just read the counter argument to it: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/05/27/climate-skeptics-think-you-shouldnt-worry-about-melting-polar-ice-heres-why-theyre-wrong/ "However, much of the concern with the melting of Antarctica, Greenland and glaciers around the world has nothing to do with sea ice — rather, it involves huge masses of ice sitting atop landmasses in polar regions. Melting of these ice sheets, glaciers and ice caps can contribute substantially to sea level rise —whereas sea ice melting cannot. So already, Taylor’s argument about “polar ice” seems much broader than it actually is."

Bingo. The discussion would go better if everybody fully understood the difference between consensus and unanimity.

Kopitar is a bigger version of Toews. Very good player. The question is can any team win a Cup with these crazy contracts on their team? I think the 2009 Pens are the only team to win with somebody having a cap hit of $8M or more on the roster.

Jets assign Adam Lowry to the Moose
sweep the leg replied to Blueballz's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Ladd's a penalty killer and Scheifele isn't. Also, unless you want to put Sheifele on the wing, he's not going to get 1st line minutes. It doesn't make a lot of sense to compare the TOI of guys who play different positions. -
Jets assign Adam Lowry to the Moose

He looks like he's fitting in nicely, tuning in his D game and you think he's a bum? Pretty sick deke move last game, its obvious he has elite skill plus he's only what, 23? Smh He's got great individual skills but doesn't seem to be able to apply them very well in a game. A guy with hands like that should be able to put up better numbers than he has. He didn't exactly light up the KHL either. His line was brutal against the Blues. They were paired up with Stuart & Chiarot most of the game and it was hard to watch. They were stuck in their own end most shifts. -
and they eat salary... just bizarre pens fired the wrong guy Daley is younger, faster, and a much better puck mover. He didn't fit in with the Hawks, but he was a decent player for the Stars. Hawks get a penalty killer and some cap help.

Buff's ask is the most reasonable. I would never give Ladd $7M per.
-
Thats very true. But they will likely sign another high priced free agent forward! Actually Ladd would be a good signing for them Ladd & Buff would both be great fits for the Pens. Buff fills a lot of needs for them.
-
Pens will find some cap space soon. Perron is pending UFA and will either move on or re-sign for less. Scuderi has to be a buyout candidate. Kunitz too if they can't trade him. Dupuis is retired. That's a lot of cap space in those four guys.
-
That's a pretty bold move for a team that's got two high profile RFAs of their own to deal with.

Bombers sign Jace Daniels through 2017
sweep the leg replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Nice signing. He was pretty good when healthy. I bet our starting OL is already set: Bryant, Neufeld, Goossen, Chungh, & Daniels. Like it or not, or GM and coach seem to really like Neufeld. -

Too bad he not say same about someone who went to Calgary. They kept him, he played well, and we made the playoffs. I can accept that one. It's only an absolute failure if you don't move somebody and miss the playoffs. -

Stamkos & Kopitar are both in the same situation. -
Edmonton Oilers LOL (perhaps Calgary Flames LOL)
sweep the leg replied to IC Khari's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I apologize to Oilers fans. I picked up Nilsson in my fantasy league, which almost certainly means his good run will end. -
They profile too similarly for my liking ... not enough snaps for those two to go around. I'd like having two big guys in the middle. BC did it pretty successfully with Mitchell & Taylor a few years ago.

This conversation got a lot more interesting once the scientists chimed in.

Game 29 : Blue Suede Jackets @ Jets
sweep the leg replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I thought he was fighting the puck in the first period, but settled down as the game went on. None of the goals were bad imo. He's doesn't always have great rebound control and can't handle the puck to save his life, but he's stopping the puck and winning games so I'll take it. -
Pretty much exactly my take on the issue.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but some Republicans are trying to change the law so people on the no-fly list can still purchase guns. They feel a person with a suspected link to terrorism should still be able to buy a gun. Let that soak in for a moment...
