Or try losing a game we should have won like I did as a head coach in the playoffs a decade ago. I failed to manage the clock better than I could have in the final 2 minutes. We were ahead by 4 points in the Calgary Bantam Semi Finals in 2005 in the final minute or so of the 4th quarter. I was so caught up in the game calling offensive plays that I never told our qb to watch the clock & take every second off before snapping the ball. On third down, we failed to get a first down, left the other team with 25 seconds on the clock from their 5 yard line & two long pass plays later they're in the end zone going to the league final & we're going home. Unbelievable. Parents blamed the DC for the loss & were quite vocal in their displeasure after the game & at our AGM a few months later. I told my defensive coordinator after the game that the loss was on me for not burning those 25 seconds after the ref blew the play in when we had the ball. And I said it again to the idiot parents over the mic that were still bitching about it 4 months later. It's always easy sitting in front of a television yelling, "What's he doing???" It's quite another being on the sidelines or on the field in the heat of the moment as a player, coach or ref. There's pressure to win even at the community level in football. In any team sport. We screw up sometimes. God forbid they blame the players who failed to make a play on defence to stop them.

It's craziness. The last 2 weeks the running game was the one facet of the Riders offense that was actually working and Chamblin in some fit of stupidity decides he's going to make an example of his running backs for a fumble and it craters his offense. Like they expect Durant to be Ricky Ray. Durant is a good qb but he's no Ricky Ray, he needs that help from the running game like most qbs do. The Riders stop dicking around like that they'll be a better team for it. I think perhaps that championship got to their heads.

and they had 792 yards total offense... I can't even wrap my head around stats like that. -

The fact that there is no video of this game is a crime. -
you've seen their draft board have you? This draft basically went thusly: There were 4 guys at the top then another 4 or 5 clustered together.

Herb Zurkowski's article about Bob Irving

I tell you it was eye opening moving to Alberta and listening to the radio guys out here and then being exposed to more through satellite radio... Irving is a cut above them all. I never cared too much back in the day when all the games weren't broadcast because Irving was so good. Not over the top, just tell the listener what he sees and the excitement or disappointment isn't forced. More broadcasters today need to realize that they don't have to be the entertainment, they just have to tell people what's going on. -
Pietrangelo over Karlsson and I don't even think twice about it. Offensive defensemen are nice in the regular season but it's guys like Pietrangelo who can do everything on the back end that you ultimately win with. One dimensional defence are complimentary pieces, guys like AP are legit franchise guys.

I think you might be writing Dinwiddie off a bit early, I thought he called a pretty good game for Smith in the game against BC. Played to his strengths and got just enough out of him to get the win along with the defense stepping up. Not much more a guy can do when you're handicapped by a passer that inaccurate. I think he called a terrible game for Smith against BC even though Montreal won. Smith's not AC and they shouldn't treat him like he is. Smith's strengths aren't short accurate passes or reading the defence and taking what they give you. It's run around and find a deep receiver. As I've said before, if you're going to be a 50% completion QB, you better be attacking the middle to deep zones so every catch is a first down. That's how you get by with an inaccurate passer. Montreal knew this last year so Marsh and Smith both kept throwing bombs and hoping for good results. When they completed the deep balls they won. When they didn't, they lost. and I think it was good because the guy can actually make those shorter passes more often, it's when he tries to throw deep you never know what you're going to get. Keep it simple for him, give him the easy throws and let the receivers do most of the work. That's what you do with a qb like that. You don't just ask him to pitch it deep and hope there's a receiver within the area code.

I gave True Detective a try via Shaws VOD and it was a bit slow getting into but damned if there didn't come a point were my entire afternoon didn't disappear because I had to finish watching the entire series right there.

Well I know it was different because he went down to the states but Kent Austin resigned to go to a situation he liked better.

Sooner or later they are going to have a let down game... This one will be concerning just because I think this will be the toughest defence they've faced so far.

oh yeah I'm the one you need to worry about, come on now we both know who the guy that'd keep texting updates would be...

not necessarily. there aren't many 40 goal scorers in the NHL, sometimes a 30ish goal scorer is all you can hope to be. Goal scorers tend to peak early let us not forget.

Better baseball highlights and the blatherings of the morons TSN has on their panel. -
No he banged his head opening a cupboard in his house.... honestly Nate some of the crap that you actually say....
-
Hell you could put together flattering highlight packs of them from their actual CFL action too if you really wanted to.

Just what do you think Kanes potential was? Seems to me he's produced with what is to be expected of him.... I've found that Jets fans seem to have this notion that every prospect or young player has super star potential... it's a curious thing.

I just can't understand why people would want a TSN post game show... you want to listen to more of Schultz babbling about stupid nonsense? -

I don't recall TSN doing much of a post game show for NHL either. Sportscentre whether you like it or not is a big thing for TSN. Think of it like the post game show for every sport that happened that day. -

I still blame Buck. "The world was his oyster" and he did nothing to win that game. That's when it first dawned on me that he didn't have the mental abilities to be a winning QB. Did he do nothing to win or did the offense play so passively because of the coaching? Seems to me that once the game started to get out of reach the offense opened up a bit and made some plays. That year though seemed that Lapo was quite happy to play stupidly conservative and hope that the defense would make enough big plays to win.
