Never fun to be on the receiving end of those games. Jones in Edm is the same way, the esks are going to pound you with that dline for 60 minutes, no mercy. it absolutely is. Those two are guys who not only want to beat you they want to beat you into a bloody pulp and make you question everything about your team. There is no letting up for them, you just play your hardest every single snap of the game doesn't matter the score is. To be honest with you, I thought O'Shea would be that kind of coach when you guys hired him. Mike was ultra mean on the field when he played. A guy you always wanted to keep an eye on. I figured a O'Shea coached team would be a mean group. Not insulting the Bombers and saying they aren't tough or anything, but that really hasn't been o shea's style a head coach. Even on special teams in Toronto he was mean and had a fiery unit when he coached there. Honestly I think he is but maybe his assistant coaches aren't and he's not really a meddling type. Ritchie Hall has been a pretty passive defensive coordinator for a while and Bellefool is soft as baby **** on offence. He's sort of hamstrung because with how many coaches the team has fired no one wants to coach here.

Brohm is just one of those guys who needs to make 10 or so good throws in a row to score a touchdown. You can get away with that when you're Ricky Ray or Kevin Glenn, but not when you're Brian Brohm.

Let's look at the teams that have successfully developed backup qbs over the last little while shall we? You got Saskatchewan (Willy) who have a proven starter so that you can bring a backup along slowly. You have Toronto who of course have the ultimate proven guy in Ray again so you can bring guys slowly and have them on your roster for 3 or 4 years before you even need to see them in a game. BC who has gone from Dickenson to Pierce to Lulay which allows players like Reilly to develop. Other than that who's developed anyone? Calgary I guess who went from Burris to Tate/Glenn to Mitchell again providing the young player the shelter needed. Cato is the latest in a long list of quarterbacks in Montreal and many of them have had initial success and been unable to sustain it. We shall see how he fares in the long term. So what have we learned here? It's pretty easy to develop qbs when your situation is stable and you don't throw qbs into the fire before they're ready. Look at what happened to the Riders last year when Durant got hurt. They had inexperienced backups who went from good prospects to scrap heap in no time. If Durant had been healthy last season I bet we'd still be hearing about how Tino Sunshine is an up and comer, and maybe he wouldn't have been such a disaster if he had to go in this year.

I don't expect anything he does to be a master piece, I just hope he makes more big plays than poor plays and we manage to fluke out a win. The one thing I am excited about for him though, is there was a play late in the Hamilton game where the pocket completely collapsed and I thought for sure Marve was buried, but somehow he managed to slip out and run to the outside. That's the kind of dynamic that neither Willy nor Brohm have and it can help take a lot of pressure off not only the offensive line but Marve himself. Teams have to respect his mobility and elusiveness and that can be a good crutch for a young qb.

Well it begs the question... how good a young prospect is Goosen if he can't beat out Picard? I have never been a fan of using high draft picks on positional needs, could be a giant swing and a miss by Walters there.

Affleck is the same age Downey was when he did the first Iron Man (Affleck will be 43 when Batman vs Superman comes out. Downey was 43 when the first Iron Man came out). Granted, I don't think they had the complete foresight of what the Marvel Universe would become when they made that first Iron Man movie in 2008. It also begs the question. Now at 50 and moving in on 10 years later, how much longer will Downey be able to keep playing Iron Man? I think the real question is, how long is Marvel willing to keep paying Robert Downey Jr.? The guy doesn't come cheap anymore and I believe Marvel has already said they're quite comfortable just re-casting characters... now obviously with that one it's going to be tough because people just associate RDJ with Tony Stark and I dunno if they'd just accept a new guy. But when they can take obscure stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy and make big money maybe they just stop using Iron Man entirely for a while. If they're going to let him walk, they might just wait till phase 4 after the Infinity War. Or do you let the character get old, and forego the comics and let him pass the torch instead? I doubt it but it's just a thought. I believe his contract expires after Infinity War so that would be when they do it. I think most of their phase one stars contracts are up after that. They locked them all in for 6 movies.

Exactly we are 0-3 against the best two teams in the league only have to face Edmonton once more at home. 3-1 against the rest of the league. If we can win 7 or 8 games in the next eleven, we should make the playoffs. I doubt that a 9 and 9 season even with crossover potential gets us there with three teams in the east already with 4 wins. Gonna have to start counting the free squares on the bingo cards to see what our chances are for the post season. The only way 9-9 won't get you into the playoffs is if everyone is 9-9, but that's just not going to happen. Riders are going to lose an awful lot more games before the year is done, the eastern teams will start playing each other more and they won't all stay above .500. The Western teams likewise will start beating each other more. Everyone over reacted to the early records last year too, not sure when people are going to realize what a long season we have here and how many things change come fall time.

Wanting federal money to support homeopathy is a big deal because it shows a willingness to waste public money on something with no benefit. The only effect it has is the placebo effect and there is no way quackery should be funded by the government. That the party policy supports this tells me that a vote for that party is wasted because it shows how poor their judgement is in a significant area. What else do they have these kinds of poor judgement on? FYI blue cross covers homeopathy. But I guess it's all a placebo effect just because you say it is. Yeah I am sure people can come up with examples of someone getting better after taking it.... but that's the placebo effect. There is no basis in science for homeopathy. It's no different than praying for someone to get better. The first 2 movies Marvel made on their own were The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton and Iron Man. All the comic movies before that were done by other studios, that includes all the spiderman movies as well. Which is sort of the point, Marvel studios has a track record where even their worst movies are still fun watchable flicks, it's the other studios that keep screwing up properties. Just look at how trash every fantastic 4 movie has been.

My uneducated opinion on the biggest OL issue is that they have no idea what to do when teams pressure you. Too many guys going to the wrong areas, picking up the wrong players and leaving guys having a free run at the qb. Maybe they're trying to out think themselves and are making it more complicated than it needs to be? The fact that guys like Picard have never been strong blockers doesn't help. It's one thing if it was always the guy from the edge getting to the qb, then you can probably put it on the qb for not recognizing, but too often it's pressure right up the middle that disrupts things. That should be inexcusable. Isn't blocking from the inside out a thing? Make the guy with the free run at the qb have to go the longest distance to get there?

I am still not sold on Ritchie Hall entirely but I'm going to give the guy credit, he's been adjusting and the D has been improving as the year has gone on. Hurl is getting better too and I'm OK leaving him in there for now, but god damn it I am sick and tired of Bucknor. Guy isn't totally useless but teams do pick on him. After the fumble on a punt in Calgary the Stamps went right after him and got a td, then they went right after him and got the 2 point convert, last night they went after him for 2 or 3 more TDs. Guy is just not good enough to be starting when we already start 7 other NIs. Especially when the one positions Walters has been successful at finding players is DB. The problem as I see it is we're starting 8 Canadians when we only need to start 7 but our 6th and 7th Canadian starters aren't really good enough. Yeah maybe the 8th guy is on a similar level to them but that doesn't make it better. It is a handicap for the team starting that many Canadians when the overall talent level of our Canadians isn't that high. Yes there is depth there, but we still lack enough truly high end Canadians. We have a lot of low end Canadian starters and borderline Canadian starters but that isn't good enough.

I think the real issue here is that regular movie studios are trying to make comic book movies where as Marvel is making movies with comic book characters. I don't really buy the scale of things and honestly I felt that the constant need to tie everything into Avengers can be a bit much sometimes. The other big issue is that because the dark knight worked so well with such a dark tone they wanted everything to be dark and gritty. Marvel really doesn't care about that, and they have no problem being in on the joke and ridiculousness of some of these situations. Sometimes a movie just needs to be a fun ride and it doesn't need to be a brooding super hero dealing with his internal emotional drama for 2 hours. You can have dramatic aspects sure but don't make it gloomy the whole way through. Throw a little lightness in.

Warner Brothers just doesn't get it. You can't shoe horn everything into a shared universe just because Marvel made it work. Fact is that none of the DC super hero movies have been all that great with the exception of the Nolan Batman movies (and the third one was pretty much a mess that only worked because of the goodwill the dark knight had built up) Batman is a pretty reliable movie character, I think that's been proven a few times in the past, but superman? Sorry but it just doesn't work in movie form for me, let alone when Batman and superman are supposed to be on the same kind of level in a team up movie. Just no way. They really should focus on making good stand alone movies first and then worry about your team up nonsense. Even the worst Marvel movies, which are probably the Thor movies are still pretty watchable.

Anyone who thinks Willy isn't the best thing this team has going for it simply doesn't understand how football works. I don't care who your qbs is when you have that many break downs in protection no qb is going to do any better. Willy is passing the ball like a beast when he has time to actually set his feet. Reading the D well, making good accurate throws and doing everything you need a qb to do. Then there's times when the OL is not just getting beat but not even slowing anyone down and it all falls apart because he's got the DL in his face instantly.

Except for the first pass of the game which was a designed sprint-out, Drew Willy always seem to be locked into a 3 step drop. If he rolled a bit and moved the launch point, he'd give himself more options - including the option to run. Also, I agree our Oline gets manhandled and pushed back way to often. But on at least 3 of the 6 sacks the defender got into our backfield untouched. That is what happens when you don't properly identify the scheme you're facing. So it's mental, too, not just physical shortcomings. I think we also just got out-coached by a team with superior talent. I don't even know about the superior talent thing, but I think at this point it's pretty clear that Bellefool has an absolute mental block when it comes to the Hamilton defense. Other teams don't have that much trouble with them but for the Bombers it's just like there's a brick wall in front of them.
