I suspect that this year the Argos will basically know that it's a write off and just get a place holder until they can do a proper search next season. At least that's what would be smart if you ask me. How do you bring everything together this close to the season when you can't pick people from other teams? Take a knee this year and make next year their focus.

which is why you are losing sight of the argument at hand. We're not talking specifically about success here, we're talking about doing things right which is part of the process of getting to success. Which is why the "if you're not first you're last" mentality that some here are displaying is bullshit.

yeah cause no one ever comes back from a start like 2-5 right? The point is if you fire a proven guy like Dave Ritchie you don't put a ***** like Jim Daley in place, you get someone better in. That's how you build, firing someone decent and putting in a worse option just sets you back years. Really the team got into problems post Ritchie and Berrys time was essentially .500 give or take a few wins which considering they were supposed to be repairing that hole they were in seems like they were doing something right, now going on from that to a moron who took an axe to the teams roster and left a smoking crater set the team back even further and it's only just now that the damage is seemingly repaired to the point where a couple key injuries don't torpedo the team. That tells me that the Walters and O'Shea regime has been doing things right even if the results weren't manifesting itself until this past season. You are trying to make this black and white but not looking at the context of why records were or weren't better than .500. Context always matters.
-
but again better than .500 is an arbitrary number as well and doesn't tell the whole story. For example, Doug Berrys first season isn't in your list of .500 or better seasons but they did things right that year. The Bombers problems stem from the fact that they would often make a mistake and then double down by making an even bigger mistake following it. For example, firing Ritchie was premature, going with Jim Daley immediately after was an even bigger mistake that set things back. Firing Berry was premature but hiring Mike Kelly immeidately afterwards was an even bigger mistake and set things back more. you see the point. But they did some things correctly and just didn't win as well.

the point being that it wasn't all bad, some was good, the wheels just came off quickly. The benchmark of Grey Cup or you did things wrong is what is bullshit.

This explains why the Ringling Brothers Circus is closing, they realized they just can't compete with the Riders. -
how can people interpret the title as anything other than being a reference to Luke? He is clearly the last Jedi, doesn't mean there's going to be no more ever, just that at this point in the story he's the last one. You spend the entirety of The Force Awakens looking for Luke and then he gets his 15 seconds of screen time at the end as the conclusion to the film, yeah it's about him in the next episode.

Hahaha Kevin Glenn is your plan A, oh man that is too rich. Durant not good enough, get me Kevin Glenn! **** what a tool Jones is. -
that's exactly it. I mean I get why people who are not at their computer during the game may want to go back and read play by play thoughts as it were but I seldom ventured into game day threads cause cause they were hard to read but the chat is great for talking about the game while it's ongoing
-
I like the chat room on game days for sure. Game day threads are so lame

Rider fans are all ******* so it really doesn't matter which one you are talking to specifically, they're all going to say the same stupid ****. -
MURPH!!!!!!!
-
The problem is, you're moving on from the only qb that has managed to win anything for that team in ages with no plan on how to replace him. The arrogance from Jones is staggering and it's going to bite him in the ass... again! Last year should have been a giant example of why you don't think you're smarter than anyone but nope, Jones and apparently the fans are doubling down on it this year.

anything can happen in the CFL, but it's not random, when you have a lunatic in charge who doesn't like having veteran qbs around it's pretty easy to guess what will happen, here's a hint, it won't be fun for you guys in riderville.

yeah I know, but I put the actual picture from the quote

Sacks for a DT don't really tell the entire story though
-
I got no problems going into the year with Davis at 2, he's been around long enough that he should be able to get some playing time if need be, and if it turns out that he is needed and can't handle it then you can always make a panic move and get yourself a Kevin Glenn during the season.
-
used to be good not sure he is all that anymore.
-
That was the problem with that draft, all the best guys were going to the NFL so the Bombers took one that they felt wouldn't stick, he did stick despite most people's thoughts, c'est la vie.

No it's not, the Bombers want Nichols back and Nichols wants to be back, they're just hammering out a deal that works for both sides. What the Riders did was alienate their starting qb, who was a damned good one as the Riders record with and without him the past few seasons should indicate, and traded him away because they had no intention of even trying to get him back. That's a monumentally stupid move. You don't ditch a quality veteran qb when you got sweet **** all at the position, that's Mike Kelly levels of dumb. -
If he cares you mean.
