  1. Experience matters a lot. Toronto got it right when they hired the "inexperienced" (Pro coach since 2003 and asst HC in Montreal) Milanovich and Edmonton got it right when they hired "inexperienced" (Pro coach since 1998 including Asst HC/GM in Toronto) Jones. We got it wrong when we hired "inexperienced" (STC since 2010) O'Shea. Rookies are a higher risk whether it's as a player, HC, GM or CEO or any other job for that matter. Take the higher risk and you may get rewarded, but it's more likely that you'll be replacing them more often than an experienced person with a quality track record. You know we could also look at Pinball Clemons who had basically no experience and made a pretty good head coach. Just get off the experience thing and say what you really mean, stop hiring duds and hire someone good. I mean really you want a proven experienced hire so what are we doing? Dragging Don Matthews or Dave Ritchie out of the old age homes to run the teams for us? Cause other than that the list of guys with experience have been tried and failed.
  2. "If they're good"... that's the key words here. Jury's out. Yeah but we have someone specifically saying to hire experience. I'm just pointing out that hiring the right person has nothing to do with experience.
  3. You know what, I really can't just let this one go. Too many times the CFL has come back after a game like this and said to the Bombers "Sorry, we blew the call". Once OK but it's happened so many times and it always seems to be to the Bombers I just can not let this kind of gross incompetence slide anymore. I demand reparations.
  4. No the problem with Black is that it's all forced, with Dunigan it's genuine. You can't fake that kind of excitement but Black tries. It's not about any biases either, it's about whether someone is good at their job or not and there are a lot of variables to that. There is no one size fits all broadcaster but most of the ones TSN uses are terrible. Cuthbert and Dunigan are the best two by far. Cuthbert because he's just a pro and knows what his job is as the commentator and doesn't try and step outside of that role too much, Dunigan because he has that genuine enthusiasm that too many people (ie. Duane Forde) try hard to fake but it just comes across as painful.
  5. So Toronto did it wrong hiring an inexperienced Milanovich? Or Edmonton with an inexperienced Jones? Come on now let's not be ridiculous. Experienced or inexperienced doesn't matter if they're good at what they do.
  6. That's an industry problem moreso than an individual one though. They don't want em to leave dead air, gotta fill it some how. Wish they'd take a page from British sports broadcasting, they'll regularly just shut up and watch the play then talk about it after.
  7. You're also an Edmonton fan so your opinion isn't valid. I disagree completely. To you maybe, but take a poll in Winnipeg - go ahead. I know who'd win. But sorry to disappoint, a lot more Oiler fans in Saskatoon then there are in Wpg. The Oilers play the Wild on Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon, so my guess is that's where McDavid will play (McLellan already said McDavid won't play both games). But the star player in the NHL is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> over the CFL. All I see here is people trying to sell their tickets at 1/2 face value for a bomber game - with no takers (see the one super fan here looking for bomber tickets but not willing to pay face value). Fans were paying their own way to Pentiction just for a chance to see McDavid. 'nuff said. Oh no you missed the point, I'm not saying you're an Oilers fan, I'm saying you're not a Bomber fan cause you're in love with all things Edmonton. Seriously just drop the act already and pull on one of those green and piss yellow jerseys.
  8. No the best part about Dunigan is that he doesn't tried hard, he's just so amped up by football naturally he can't help but be as excited as he is.
  9. you.....did....whaaaaaaaaaaat.......??!!!!? we've secretly replaced your football team with one that sucks, how does that make you feel?
  10. After the Civic election i dont quite trust polls as much. Well the polls thus far have said it's pretty much a 3 way tie so anything can happen. I'd trust that to be honest. Chances are between now and election day there is going to be one thing that is the tipping point giving a party the win.
  11. I think you can collectively bargain around certain laws. Such as anti trust etc. I would think this would be one of those too No you can't. The only American sports league to be exempt from anti-trust laws is MLB. Rich was right about American labour laws being the reason the American teams didn't have to deal with the ratio. Then how does the NHL work? Or any sport that employs Canadian citizens. The issue is that the CFL limits the number of americans that can be on the roster, that's the hang up with American expansion.
  12. I believe it falls under the "Dey tuk er jerbs!" laws.
  13. The problem with American teams in the CFL is still that they don't have to follow the ratio. The last time they expanded into the states it was a cash grab to try and keep the league afloat plain and simple. They don't need to do that these days.
  14. American style sports broadcasting. The game isn't interesting to sell itself they have to find some story to sell, just ridiculous. Not sure it's American style. I don't get the same kind of thing on NFL broadcasts. Are you kidding me? The NFL hypes the crap out of any little thing. It's the single biggest reason that I can't watch the NFL despite being a football fan. Maybe it's not one player throughout the course of the game but Americans are obsessed with playing the game on paper and then seeing if the game will follow their script.
  15. He is all of those things, but he is also this season very emotional which leads to irrational arguments that he just keeps hammering away on even if other people show him to be in the wrong, at which point he takes it as a personal slight. I respect his opinion, but when he starts in the old man yelling at clouds act I just roll my eyes.I saw one of your posts today or yesterday where you called out another member & used ***** & ***** twice in a sentence calling them out. If that isn't yelling & showing disrespect then I don't know what it is. You know that I also respect your opinion but please don't point fingers at me & say I yell & scream like an old man at members when you do it here as well. Long time members know you have a temper as well.Hey I didn't say you did it at members, you're ranting and raving about the team a lot though and then take thing personally when people argue with you. You're damned right I use colourful adjectives to describe opinions I don't like, but that's a far cry from what's going on here. I wouldn't really say I have a temper so much as I have an argumentative streak a mile wide and don't give a **** if people get offended. You get a forum full of people with that attitude and within a month the forum is done and done. Why would one feel he has to offend people he does not agree with. People don't do that with those they work with or play with or those you live with so why feel it is an entitlement when you deal with people who just want to express an opinion on a subject of common interest. This thread is an example of what a forum should never be.Instead we should just let morons keep posting stupid crap? No that's a forum I never want to see. If I think someone has a stupid opinion I'm going to tell them so and ask them to back it up. Just the way it's going to go. I'm not interested in a forum that is unfiltered ranting. People want to do that then they should start a blog. Once people get over this idea that everyones ideas are valid the better off a forum will be.And I suppose you see yourself as the "valid idea" judge? You've got some serious issues man. I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it. -- George Bernard Shaw in other words "I can't defend myself so I won't try and just whine about being bullied
  16. absolutely 100% want Muamba back, but not interested in the "sweepstakes". When he's ready to sign with a CFL team call me, until then I see him still chasing the NFL.
  17. When he first came to Winnipeg Buck Pierce was a more proven and better quarterback than Drew Willy is. We didn't have a real OC with Lapo cause the man wanted to have his hands all over the offense as well. I'd also say it's debatable whether the Canadian content is really improved or not. Westerman is the only legit star guy we got right now, at least Lapo had Brown and Labatte when he first got here.
  18. You're also an Edmonton fan so your opinion isn't valid.
  19. No I see myself as an opinionated person who is more than willing to defend my opinions. People are always free and quite frankly I encourage them to argue my opinions. You don't like your opinions being called stupid them prove me wrong.
  20. I don't see it. Trudeau has already said no coalition with Mulcair. Neither party wants to play 2nd fiddle to the other. If they topple the government and it goes to an election I can see the voters slapping them down like happened with their contempt of parliament nonsense. If the Conservatives get a minority they will form government and run it for a while. The NDP and Liberals simply do not have as much common ground as people think they do and the Conservatives would do what they did last times they had a minority. Find support where they can by giving some parties concessions. Do you think the NDP slipping has any connection to Mulcair saying he'd consider working with the Liberals or did he say that because he was slipping? No Mulcair has been open to a coalition with the Liberals before the election was even called *IF* Mulcair was the leader. Simply put the NDP is opportunistic right now. Their slide in the polls is more a reflection of people seeing them as a protest, but then realizing they may win, scrutinizing them more and deciding they don't like it and going to the safe comfy Liberals instead.
  21. What if he is getting the best out of the talent we have? Clarence Denmark would disagree. or is that a function of rookie qbs can't find Denmark? And let's be realistic here, this isn't the first time in his career that Denmark has done the inconsistent thing either.

  23. Ticketmaster all out? Why pay full price? And people got mad at me when I called Winnipeggers cheap. If it's not on sale not interested! It's the city motto. Are people in Calgary idiots who actively look for the highest price possible? lots of them are yeah.
