Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
17to85 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well to be completely fair the ones that don't care aren't actually fans. That's Calgary though. City with a big time case of LMS. -
How does Apes compare to the other two? Cause I thought those were actually pretty good and have heard good things about the third one. I opted to see Spiderman rather than Apes this week so next up is probably Apes. Spiderman was solid, though there were parts I felt could have been done better, but it had it's quota of quips filled so it was still enjoyable.

Just like Brian Wilson did! am I doing it right?

True story, I said to Noeller, that's 05 Bombers bad.

There are tons of people out there who swear that Pacific Rim was the greatest thing ever. I didn't mind it but personally felt like it was over hyped by those types. Truthfully Pacific Rim should have been the sequel. The intro story that they glossed over could have easily been the first movie and then the actual main story could have been the 2nd movie. As it stands I have no ******* clue what they are planning on doing in a sequel. I thought they had wrapped it up pretty nicely.

Holy cow that's bad.
-
Well there was slightly more curse words involved....

People were hard on Khari when he was here throwing all those TDs. That's half the reason I joined these boards, keep people straight and tell them they were wrong for dissing Khari.
-
You know it's really cool that Nik Lewis went over 1000 catches in his career, I always felt he was a damned good receiver, but man I have a real hard time respecting him as an athlete when he's a fat as he is.... Just looks like a sloppy POS.

God forbid a rookie improves with more time.
-
I am going to go with Messam because picking against the Riders seems a smart choice.
-
But there is a difference between the goat, and the GOAT. Both are still very valid.
-
Because we are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a win, what else are we supposed to argue about?
-
Oh no I am not giving Denmark credit simply for last season, I've been a fan of the guy his entire tenure here. He's a very consistent and reliable target. I'm also not pumping him up to great levels either, but he's still shown that consistency, where as Adams hasn't, in large part because he was hurt most of last season. As I said before, a few big games last year doesn't put a guy into the highest echelons of receivers, consistently performing at a high level is what does it. Honestly when I look around the CFL there are so many players I would put at the same level as Adams or higher that he's just another american receiver. Everything he does well there are plenty of guys who do it better and more consistently.
-
and you lost me. At least use a guy like Calvillo or Ray as an example not that over rated prima donna.
-
Can you imagine what Stegall might have done if he'd played with a qb like Dickenson as well? I mean **** Stegall put up big numbers with Kevin Glenn... Only real top guy Stegall had was Jones for a few years and they broke the record book...
-
I am not sure he is that much better than Denmark to be honest. some big stats in a few games last year doesn't really change my opinion on that, he's gotta show the consistency to be able to do that for a whole season before he gets those accolades.
-
I'm sorry but a guy who has never eclipsed 1000 yards in a season is not great and don't give me the pace from last year either, gotta actually do it before you get to be put at that great level. I mean **** he's barely ahead of Harris in receiving yards this season so far. Great players are special, Darvin Adams is just another good american receiver that the CFL never has any shortage of.
-
No he isn't. He's good but he's not great. Or are you just using a looser definition of the term great? Cause great to me means a guy that can put the entire offense on his back and make it happen. The Stegalls or the Simons, Adams ain't at that level and likely never will get there.
-
You nailed it on this one. I don't like seeing a play made and then having a coach looking for the slightest hint of an infraction in another time zone so they can throw a flag, delay the game and take away said play because of something that really had no impact on the play. I dislike the challenge system in general but the biggest travesty is deciding that they should be able to challenge PI. Get that **** out of there. Total over reaction because of one missed flag in a playoff game. Fans will accept human error on the field in real time much more readily than they will accept all the bullshit that PI challenges have introduced.
-
Give it time, the O is still a bit disjointed, and if Dressler is open all the time anyway why even bother throwing it to Denmark?
-
Well for starters I'm not lumping it all on Nichols, just making an observation that he's missed a lot of deep throws to a lot of receivers, and Dressler and Adams being the top 2 receivers on the team are naturally going to see a lot more balls coming their way so the times they get missed on throws aren't as obvious as when the couple times they look to the depth guys that happen to go over their heads. I got nothing against Nichols but the guy hasn't been as sharp yet this season as he was last year. I believe that'll come though, and it's not the short stuff that's he missing on, just when he goes downfield. Or is it not cool to note some of the areas that need to get better for this team? I mean I know we all love Nichols here and his record as a starter speaks for itself, but that doesn't mean he's perfect and above pointing out some of the things he's done less than stellar this year. 2-1 is a great start, but 2-1 in July doesn't amount to a whole hell of a lot at the end of the day, gotta keep improving as the season goes on in this league of ours.
-
Washington had a few instances where he had a chance to make plays but Nichols missed him. Nichols hasn't really done a lot of favours to the receivers thus far. He has been over throwing a lot of guys downfield this year, get that cleaned up and we can really see what we have at receiver.
-
I have said it before and I'll say it again, the problem with the refs now is that they use replay as a crutch to avoid doing their jobs. They err on the side of calling touchdowns because it gets reviewed anyway, they don't take risks on close calls knowing that things are likely to be challenged so they don't have to stick their necks out. The replay system has hurt the quality of reffing in the league and the attitude of the people in charge of reffing has made it even worse still.
-
Finally caught up on all the games I missed, and boy if I were an Argo fan I would be awfully upset with the reffing in that game. Just atrocious reffing all around and there were at least 2 missed roughing the passer plays where a Bomber got Ray in the helmet.
