  1. really? You really think the secondary is the biggest hole? We got lots of dbs who can play even with the loss of Washington. Plus it's the one area this regime has seemed to been able to find players at pretty consistently. It's probably my last worry about this team.
  2. The moral of the story here is that chasing a big payday in the CFL isn't worth it because contracts are not guaranteed and you might think you're getting paid but if you're not worth it that contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. More important to pick a good situation than chase the money.
  3. You are going to be happy with him. Lots of Bomber fans here have ADD and only remember the times he got burned, which happens to everyone, but he's a damned good db and I predict it'll be week 2 at most before there's some posts on here lamenting the fact that he got away.
  4. I believe that with regards to Picard the hope was that his experience and leadership would outweigh his shortcomings on the field.
  5. Not to mention that Laurent wasn't well known and Poblah was considered a guy that would have been a slam dunk first overall selection if he'd been in the draft. People use hindsight way too much when discussing this stuff. Poblah was considered a great prospect as a NI, it didn't work out and we got burned, c'est la vie.
  6. The people who don't think Washington was a good DB clearly have no clue about football. Here's my thoughts on the situation, Washington wants a big pay day and Walters figures he's got other options that won't cost as much and he's cheaping out.
  7. It's not that they beat them, it's that they stomped them. McDavid has given that team a spark and considering how it was looking with some of their best players injured they needed that spark. They had a nice win streak going until Klefbom, their best D hit the shelf, now McDavid has sparked the PP they can capitalize on those chances and score their way out of trouble.
  8. One play totally defines a guys career!
  9. Biggest thing for the Oilers since McDavid came back 5 for 6 on the PP. That powerplay was a sore spot for them while he was out, give a guy with that kind of skill more space though and it just clicks. Get Klefbom healthy and it'll be even better.
  10. What? He plays the tougher half back spot and does it quite well. He's all over the field and he does his job well. The trouble here is people will focus only on the plays where he got beat, but guess what, the top receivers (who Washington was always covering because that's how the coaches viewed him) will get open and make plays on everyone. If we lose Washington mark my words we will miss him.
  11. This is the most internet message board quote out there.
  12. Jovon Johnson? really? come on people, he was washed up when we let him go and that hasn't changed. Yeah he might have made a couple plays against Winnipeg but so what? At this point in his career he's not worth wasting time on.
  13. Marcus Brady is another one. Everyone wanted that guy it seemed and he didn't accomplish **** as a qb.
  14. Is that based on anything other than wishful thinking? The guys who seem to have the best long term careers are the ones who stay in great shape throughout their entire careers and Buff has had issues with being too heavy already, those things don't get any easier when you get older.
  15. well it was positive when they signed a good veteran like Dressler. Sign guys that aren't so good get crapped on, sign guys that are good get praised.
  16. prospects are just prospects until they actually play in the CFL and they're not worth getting excited about. There's a list of good sounding players brought up here that never transitioned as long as my arm, but for CFL vets we already know what to expect from them. So why would we waste time speculating on a guy who may or may not become anything significant?
  17. Signing Harris just seems a real Taman-esque move. Dunno that we really needed another body in the secondary, it's like the only place they seem to be able to recruit guys for.
  18. If your kicker is struggling to make 1 point converts why the **** wouldn't you go for 2? Seems there was some evidence to suggest it was a worthwhile strategy league wide. Confidence is a big thing for a kicker, if you recognize he is struggling then shelter him as best you can and see if he works out of the funk. When you tell a guy to go do the thing he's struggling with all the time though it just spirals. These aren't robots. I'm not suggesting they pin all their hopes on him rebounding either, you gotta have a contingency plan in place but I'm super hesitant to just throw away that potential without seeing if year 2 was the anomaly or if year 1 was.
  19. But that's all people are saying, he showed a lot as a rookie so why not give him a chance to redeem himself? You can rest assured that if we cut him free and he rebounded with another team there would be people lining up to skewer Walters for letting a good NI kicker get away for nothing. It's like some people think he was never any good. Honestly a lot of his problems could have likely been avoided if they had recognized right away that he had a mental block about the converts and gone for 2 more. He might not have let that convert issue creep into his field goal game.
  20. I honestly think some fans want a gallows set up at half time and whichever player is the scapegoat of the game gets publicly hanged as the half time entertainment.
  21. He's a giant *****.... No apparently he's been battling the flu or something the last while so he's skipping the allstar game.
  22. I believe so. There is really a lot to like about this deal.
  23. Cool. This should be a good signing. Get an established vet to be the leader of the offense, having some experience playing with our Willy is a bonus as well.
  24. The info he needs is "Will anyone else give me more money?"
