  1. AND this team has been quite successful at luring free agents here so the guys point is useless anyway. You can't sign everyone every offseason but we've seen lots of players choose to be here and most of them do cite O'Shea as a big reason.
  2. well plus Cherry is always on about how the elbow pads these days are super hard plastic that when a guy gets one of those in the face it's like a club to the head. But it is the same principle. Helmets that make the hitters head not take damage are more readily used as a leading point on a tackle. You think we'd see guys throwing themselves around like missiles if they had no helmet on?
  3. He's a rookie playing one of the hardest positions in the game. A month in isn't the time to decide a guy is useless. There's lots of other new faces on D as well so it's going to take some time.
  4. Crazy thought but maybe they need to go to lesser protection? If you can't use your equipment as a weapon you're less likely to see more injuries right?
  5. BC has for my money the best receivers in the league, not really a fair comparison because there can be only one team with the best receivers in the league. Bomber receivers are a bit average, but they can get the job done. Dressler is playing like a top receive so far, he's just different than a guy like Arceneaux because of his physical attributes. I mean you're not going to see Dressler impose his will on dbs like Arceneaux can, but you're also not likely to see Arceneaux do some of the things in the backfield with the ball that Dressler does. Apples to oranges.
  6. Well the other way to look at it is if the offense isn't going 2 and out all the time there are less opportunities for the other team to score points.
  7. dibs on head brewer!
  8. So you think it's hysterical to blame a coach being passive and rather try and pin it on some hypothetical mental condition? I don't buy it because we saw the exact same kind of thing when Lapo was head coach here. A team that got passive and kept games close but didn't win. You can go back in time and read what Rider fans thought about Ritchie Halls defense as well when they were trying to close out a lead and it's the exact same thing. Lots of yards and points given up late in games. We hired coordinators with a long history of being soft when protecting a lead in the 4th quarter and you think that's not the real reason? Come off it. Don't over think these things, the simplest solution is usually the correct one.
  9. Of course it matters, a big part of the teams problems then were a president and GM on different pages, Miller and Walters and O'Shea are all very much on the same page right now which is why they won't fire O'Shea if he is consistently in the playoffs.
  10. I always found the best way to go to Houstons was so drunk you didn't even know what music was being played... but I dunno that was a long time ago
  11. .500 in the CFL guarantees you a playoff spot so as long as you remain about that it's all good.
  12. So your entire point is a rookie DB who is only playing because of injuries, a backup OL who I don't think has seen the field at all this year and a canadian who is only starting because an american rookie came in and stole a spot that was ear marked for canadians and caused a ratio change? Keep on reaching man, keep on reaching. The team is 2-2 with losses to teams that were widely expected to be among the top teams in the league, things are not nearly so dire as you make them seem.
  13. Yeah all those yards and touchdowns he put up, and leading his team to victory, you sure showed them. God what a moron.
  14. Well it's basically the exact same premise as this thread:
  15. I think it's more about learning more so that they can help people who did or do play football so that they don't just retire and have to fend for themselves.
  16. Well thankfully the GM and team president are both on the same page with regards to the coach, Wade Miller is not likely to pull a Bauer and fire MOS to put in an old crony.
  17. Yeah Messam without a doubt, Hamilton is sofa king bad.
  18. Does this exact same thread not already exist?
  19. So I am generally not a huge fan of a lot of the Belgian style beers, but after spending a few days in Belgium recently I can safely say that if you ever feel like you don't have enough choices in beer go there because there seems to be roughly a million breweries in that country. Not speaking the language made picking an even more daring adventure but I managed to get a few solid ones. Just don't ask me to remember what they were.
  20. This is pretty much it. Hall isn't my ideal choice for a DC but he is good enough, it's really just Lapolice that is a major problem and it's as you say, his ability to call a game rather than anything else. Guy is very prone to over thinking things and often outsmarts himself. He is also very passive when sometimes you gotta go for the throat. I would have hoped he'd have learned that but it appears that he really hasn't.
  21. I believe you mean a good third quarter, cause the 4th quarter was the Stamps kicking your asses again too. Don't try and make it sound any better than it really was. Riders were fortunate that the score wasn't more lopsided to be perfectly honest.
  22. The team is further ahead of where they were last year at this same point in the season so why all the doom and gloom? The secondary is going to get healthier, the linebackers are going to get healthier, why all the hand wringing over a loss to BC and Calgary? Oh right, cause some people just like to get caught up in the negativity.
  23. and as if Noeller gets the reputation as Mr. Sunshine. Guy gets as negative as anyone, difference is he doesn't get caught up in the knee jerk reactions like some people do.
  24. This is simply a case of fans wanting players and coaches and managers to be as angry as they are. I mean they want guys like Chris Jones and Mike Kelly who will happily throw players under the bus because it makes them feel vindicated as fans for being upset. They absolutely hate it when coaches are in control because they themselves can't control themselves.
  25. The D gave up too much as well but the biggest problem is the offense going MIA for half a game. Gotta give the D a break every now and then. I trust Hall to make in game adjustments and we saw that towards the end when they did make stops they needed to.
