If we'd lost those grey cup games by just getting beaten (like last year) that's one thing, but when you lose the previous 2 because you put a suboptimal lineup out there it is much much harder to take.

Signing Jake as depth is not a huge issue. Using Jake as if he's prime Doug Brown = huge issue.

And even that required a bounce up and over off the upright. --> <-- close to a shutout

No one is asking for all out blitzes, but the defense isn't successful because they put Jake Thomas out there for 80% of the snaps at DT or DE. Put better players on the line and you can maintain the same defensive system while also having guys who can breakdown an offensive line without having to sell out for pressure. Is what they're doing working? Overall yes, but when you give qbs all kinds of time eventually they are going to find some plays.

So imagine if we could get pressure how good the D would be.

We don't get pressure though...

Who says he couldn't play up to expectations? Really watch Tony Jones.play sometime... see if you think that's an untouchable player no matter what the # of tackles at the end of the game says. He's a decent piece, but he is replaceable and based on what I saw in one game, j. Jones could have easily replaced and done more.

I don't give a damn about Jones in particular, this is about how our roster is used.

There is a difference between a position not being a problem and being impactful. Tony Jones has a **** ton of tackles but I would say he's had 1 game where he was impactful. Wilson I'd say maaayyybbbbeee one game where he was impactful. We can do better and J.Jones likely would have but he never got more than 1 game (which did show a skilled player IMO)

Tackles, oh yay. I'd rather a linebacker make plays than tackles. So why sign Jones if he's as trash as you say? It still points to a disconnect between coach and gm.

Even with J.Jones here T.Jones was never in danger of losing a spot. If the coach was so married to his guys at lb why even sign j.jones? That's the crazy part. Clearly the coach and gm are reading 2 different books at this point.

My concern is what the hell did the gm and coach talk about going into the offseason? Guys we drafted get no defensive snaps either. Just bizarre what's happening
