Ok so we're getting closer to you admitting that there's some legit criticisms of the coaches and that they shouldn't be criticized just because there also needs to be some better scouting and recruitment. Nobody is placing the blame squarely in one corner but if you have a coaching staff that isn't getting the most out of what they do have that's your primary issue because even if you do get all the Allstars at every position what good is it if the coaching staff isn't making them as successful as can be?

Whether they're working out or not isn't the point, the point is they were pretty aggressive going and getting some name guys.

You think they weren't aggressive in free agency this past offseason?

Do you really honestly believe that this team is operating at it's absolute best level based on the players that are here? Like everyone is maximizing their potential and this the is best they have?

If I felt like this team was giving it it's all and doing everything possible to put the best product on the field and still losing that's one thing.... But when it looks like everyone is just punching the clock... Yeah that's unacceptable

Before the GM does that the coaches need to deal with that player first. If the coach isn't willing to bench a player who isn't good enough and try the backups then that says to the GM the coach doesn't have a problem with the player. Seriously you're twisting yourself into circles trying to make it seem like the gm and scouts are the main issue... But these guys have been here for long enough we've got a ton of history to look at and what we can say now is that Kyle Walters had more to do with our run than Mike O'Shea did. If we need a stacked roster to win what is the coach actually doing? Before 2019 I used to make excuses for O'Shea and say the same things, "gm needs to get him better players!" Time and history though show that osh gonna osh and if he's not handed a roster that can win on it's own he doesn't have any sort of magic touch. Not to say the gm is flawless, I really didn't like his approach in the 2025 offseason, but he appeared to make some changes in how he operates this offseason. Guy who hasn't changed is the coach. I don't even think O'Shea is a bad coach and to rebuild a shitty organization from nothing into a place that can be something he is quite good, but making the hard decisions to sustain success long term he sucks because of his way of operating. He needs to stop pretending the team will watch film and get better and go actually do something to make it better. Sit down some guys who can't make plays, tell Jordan Younger to simplify things cause it's embarrassing, tell Tommy Condell to call an offense that isn't pre-school level for opposing teams to read.

It isn't and hasn't happened.... Where's the action?

Anything that's a coordinator problem ultimately is an O'Shea problem. He is the head coach, the team and it's coaches on game day ultimately reflect on him.

We've had less talented teams than this put up more fight.

Step one: convince O'Shea to get his people in order. Coordinators and players. They all need a boot up the ass because not only are they losing, they are losing ugly. I don't buy that we are so devoid of talent that they can't be better than they are with smarter roster use and smarter game plans that the team can actually execute. But again, to convince the coach to change.... He has done the same things the entire decade he has been here.

The biggest problem with this team now is the coaching full stop. I don't expect changes but none of them are doing their jobs well and that needs to change before anything gets better.

O'Shea got too used to the team stepping up in the clutch when it mattered and pulling a game out of the fire. So he still has that conservative mindset except he doesn't have the horses anymore to rely on that so we end up breaking when it matters. Needs to coach for the team he has now not the team he used to have.

Whether the talent sucks overall or not... Where the **** is the accountability by sitting guys down when they clearly aren't good enough? Even if you think the backup isn't good enough you need to hold poor play accountable. If the backup sucks too then tell the gm to find another guy and keep going through until you find something. We don't though and that's on the coaches. Honestly a guy like Stanley Bryant needs to get "injured" and live the rest of the season on the IR and retire. He gets beaten badly and takes penalties allllllll the time. Vanterpool looked fine at rt so when Broxton is back use those guys as your tackles and go from there. I don't mind white and Wilson as players, but if one of them was taller our offense would be a lot better. The only starter in our receiving group with any size is Nield and he plays soft too. On D.... I hope Jake Kelly's arms grow back soon so he can use them when trying to tackle. It makes no sense to me that smith isn't a starter. He is one of the best lbs on the team and one of the best Canadians so why we waste reps on the likes of Cobb or Daniels or Kelly or any of a host of other guys who aren't as good. The bottom line this roster is constructed incredibly poorly and the way it's built and the coordinators we have are at odds. Like there's no thought seemingly put into anything. They got so complacent with the vets running the room. That works when you got prime Bighill and prime Jefferson and prime a whole bunch of guys. Doesn't work when your vets are cooked and the guys in their prime should be depth by rights.

We saw Willie go off in the grey Cup against Toronto... It's not a case of can he but can he sustain it. If he can do it all year then let's talk.

And the reason for that is so that teams are able to attract high profile guys who won't show up for peanuts

At some point you gotta stop pretending that you can correct these mistakes with film work. It's been 8 weeks of the season, it is what it is. Either these players don't get it or can't execute it so something needs to change.

So why is that? Not like they can't ever find guys who can make plays. There's some rookies on the roster doing well right now. Seems the biggest problem spots are the established guys.

We are currently starting a pile of guys who aren't starting calibre....

But using guys like Case or Johnson who round here were universally decried as puzzling keeps after training camp is only more evidence that our coaches make some damned puzzling decisions when it comes to evaluation of talent.
