  1. I saw Troy Kopp 2.0. Big crazy inspiring horseshoe win, followed by .... nothing.
  2. Denmark turned the corner last year when he was moved to slot, didn't he?
  3. Someone notify Pilsbury because we got a DOUGH ALERT!
  4. I don't see why, if there are three teams after him, there's still a strong market for him...
  5. I think his Plan A was to improve his football team. His "real plan?" What is this, Scooby-doo? Do you think Marcel Desjardins has some kind of personal grudge against Glenn? Do you think the entire Ottawa team is an elaborate scheme that is solely designed to hurt Kevin Glenn's feelings? Do you think Kevin Glenn shouldn't have to face competition for his job? It's football. It's a shitty business.
  6. What do you think he should do? Lend us one of his quarterbacks? The guy has a team to build and is starting from pretty close to zero. You can't fault him for playing the game hard. Besides, if the Bombers panic and overpay for Glenn, that is not Desjardins' fault.
  7. It'll be nice to kick the RedBlack's ass as soon as possible. They're going to have an older team that initially will probably be competitive so we may not be able to do it in 2015. But as that team ages & they're handicapped by bloated contracts, I can't wait. Eff you Desjardins. Why the hate for Desjardins? All the guy did was overpay for Burris.
  8. Cvetty is my wife's favorite Bomber because of all the animal shelter stuff he does. She's gonna be bummed to hear this.
  9. This is excellent. Extra bye week = healthier players.
  10. I think Brandon has it -- Collaros had that gunslinging swashbucking fancy-footwork improvisational thing going on. He's an exciting player to watch, more exciting than Willy has shown. Of course more exciting =/= more effective.
  11. So Taman is saying that the Bombers really weren't high on re-signing Etienne. Seems weird given how we're really hooped for non-imports this year.
  12. Also on Deadspin: The Big Book of Black Quarterbacks. http://deadspin.com/i-live-in-seattle-listen-to-sports-radio-all-day-and-w-1517770046/@barryap Lots of interesting CFL tidbits in there. Jay Walker is now a Maryland state rep, and Adrian McPherson lost his NFL shot due to a knee injury suffered when a mascot ran him down with a golf cart.
  13. I expect that he wants to test the market. His competition for free agent dollars isn't going to be intense -- you've got Kohlert, Foster, Etienne, Hargraves, Forzani, Parker, and Carter out there as FA non-import receivers, and I think the only guy who's unquestionably more valuable than Etienne is Kohlert. I could see Etienne winding up in Ottawa or Edmonton. Both teams are hurting for NI WRs.
  14. According to Naylor on TSN, Glenn's compensation is based largely on the number of starts he makes. If he's not the starter, he's more affordable. The market for Glenn could heat up fast during the season if a starting QB or two has a season-ending injury. I think Desjardins can afford to be patient and wait until the moment of maximum desperation. His team is extremely thin, expectations for it are low and he's got a grace period to work with. He has to be sure he gets good value for his only real tradeable asset.
  15. Yeah, I really like how on this forum, the vast majority of the threads are tied to concrete news events. Burris signed, Muamba released, Walters on CJOB, and so forth. We have comparatively few threads of the "guys here's how I feel about the Bombers!" variety.
  16. If this team is all about making knee-jerk decisions to placate the fanbase, then why does it still wear navy blue instead of royal blue?
  17. Goltz was lethal anywhere inside the 10. He made us the best red zone team in the CFL until he got banished.
  18. I also wonder how much our OL factored into this decision. Our offense doesn't have a pocket, it has a killing floor. On the bright side, as we get our OL issues sorted out, it will be Burris taking that punishment, instead of some prized youngster like Mike Reilly who is the Future of the Franchise.
  19. Actually, this more reminds me of 1999 and Kerwin Bell: we've just gone through two very dark years with awful coaching and no quarterbacking, and now we're getting a 5000-yard a year vet who might not be the first choice of some but who is light-years better than what we had. Hopefully the Khari Jones part of 1999/2000 will repeat itself as well. I feel this franchise is lurching towards permanent joke/doormat status, like the Rough Riders of the 1980s - 1990s. Hank might have clear deficiencies but I think he could stop the bleeding and help us turn the corner. (to mix metaphors horribly).
  20. This is a great point about Dickenson/Garcia: if you're going to downgrade AC because he had a great supporting cast and good coaching, then you have to downgrade both those guys too, given how the Stamps were a titan regardless of which one of them played. That was a hell of a QB dynasty in Calgary in the 90s
  21. What's up with Chris Garrett? Is his career done? I don't see him on the Bombers' roster.
