  1. I guess the Ti-Cats were fed up with his constant injuries. I think this could be the end of the road for Stala, though Wally sometimes takes a gamble on people the rest of the league has given up on, see Bruce, Arland and Pierce, Buck.

  2. maybe we just don't hire a DC this year and just run the Chewbacca defense all year instead.

“”Cochran ...ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!Gerald Broflovski Damn it!... He's using the Chewbacca defense!Cochran Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.."
And I'm the one drinking too much caffeine?

    ;)

Well, ya. You've seen the south park episode this is referenced from, right? If not, quick synopsis is that johnny cochran uses this "defense" to get OJ Simpson aquitted..

actually he uses it to prosecute Chef, then in the end uses it again to help Chef win his case. In his last argument, he pulls out a puppet and shows it to a juror and the juror's head explodes.

  3. Died with the CSL in the 80's.... People may want to go see Calgary play Winnipeg in CFL football but they don't give 2 hoots about Canadian soccer. They may want to see MLS though. I think the stadium needs another tenant.

I could just stay home, paint the side of my house and watch it dry and get the same level of entertainment value.

    ARASH MADANI

    JANUARY 8, 2014, 1:13 PM

Just days after Jonathan Martin walked out on the Miami Dolphins, amidst allegations of bullying inside the organizations walls, the B.C. Lions added the offensive lineman to the team’s confidential negotiation list, sources told Sportsnet.

Just watch - he'll accuse Joey Elliott of bullying him after he gets "dumb-assed" during training camp.

  5.

There are two things that make all the difference in the CFL, Coaching and quarterbacking. And do you think that it's a coincidence that Hufnagel had 3 qbs he could throw onto the field? Good coaches get the most out of their teams. If Tim Burke had been coaching Calgary or Saskatchewan they'd have been shitty teams this year too.

Your hatred of Burke is blinding you from admitting that our roster is GARBAGE.

Burke is an abysmal HC, yes, but you seem to think that just because Lapo took the team to the GC that it was an above average club.

We rode to the GC on the strength of a 7-1 start (fuelled by Burke and Harris's defence). Once teams figured it out, remember how we sucked arse for the balance of the year and basically stumbled into the cup, whereupon we were anally pounded by BC?

And how did we improve after that GC pounding? Buck Pierce, Goltz, a bag of garbage, oh, and Sofa Muamba

I feel bad for O'Shea (and Walters). They have a lot of work to do.

  6. That would be where the challenge idea comes into play.

Like others have said, we'd regularly see receivers being tackled on deep passes if the penalty was only 15 yards.

Which would be in our favour as we don't throw any passes over 15 yards anyway, meanwhile we'd be able to give our secondary a chance to stop all of the long bombs. :)

  7. So no jokes about Pall being 5th overall pick only for them to instantly cut him and Montreal signing him?

Or is it only Mack picks that can be forever mocked?

A little of column A, but mostly column B. It helps to win the Grey Cup once in awhile, though Huffer hasn't done that since 2008.

  8. Yeah..seriously...I don't understand the lame jokes. Is this like a Norm McDonald stand-up routine where it's on purpose, or.....??

I saw this one - it was for cat food - at the end of it, it says, 'All natural food for your cat.' All natural food? But cat food's made out of horse meat. Yeah, that's the way it works in nature: the cat, right above the horse in the food chain.

  9. Good number 3 that you hope you don't need to play full time.

yeah, the number three on the depth chart is going to be known soon as the "Joey Elliott" position. At least, on good teams. On Winnipeg, it could be known as "starting in Week 2" position.

  10. I was amazed that any DB could cover anyone on that day.  The field was so icy that everyone was running in slow motion. You look at the dome cups like 83 and 87 and 89, they're lightning-fast compared to that game.

Our offensive gameplan was perfect, we let the receivers draw everyone deep and then dropped it off to Kehoe or Cantner in the flat.  We ran that play over and over and Hamilton couldn't cover it.  They were keeping people in the box to defend against Reaves and lateral pursuit was super hard on that terrible field anyway.

I think that 68-7 game twelve years later was Commonwealth's revenge for our '84 Grey Cup win.

The biggest thing, scheme-wise, that I notice when I watch it is that there were very few (if any?) shotgun formations.  Everything was under center with the quarterbacks doing long drops. Lots of QB footwork there you just don't see today.

Yeah there were a lot of three step drop-backs and throws out to the flat, to Reaves, Kehoe, Cantner you name it. Hamilton was eaten alive on those plays. Then in the second half when Hamilton adjusted for the swing pass Clements started hitting Boyd and Murphy for long bombs. The last TD of the game thrown by Huffer in the last few minutes was beautiful too, Huffer just stood there for what seemed 10 whole seconds while the Oline just demolished the dead tired Hamilton D Line, then he fired a laser beam into Jeff Boyd's midriff. Huffer wasn't very mobile, but he was deadly accurate.

  11. How would you like to burn me a copy in exchange for the ability to ban one member of your choice from not only this site, but the internet in general?

    Just kidding.

How would you like to burn me a copy in exchange for nothing of any value whatsoever other than the cost of postage and a blank DVD?

I'll see what I can do.

The guy I got it from left a lot of the ads from 1984 on the DVD too - talk about cheese-ball commercials and horrible graphics! But totally funny! Man has advertising come a long way in the past 30 years. I hope those hairstyles never come back, just plain horrible.
