  1. You know what, I am less concerned with how many games Pierce plays so much as I am concerned with how well he can play these days,

me too.  We'll see if he survives the first game of the year against Toronto and their uber-****** methodology of deliberately head-hunting Buck with late hits, knowing their butt-boy Murray Clark is just going to stand there watching and not throw a flag, and of course, Cohon isn't going to suspend anybody.

  2. everyone should just be put into hyperbaric chambers or suspended animation between games, this practicing is just too damaging.  It was right around this time last year that Garrett blew out his Achilles leaving us with Bloi-Dei Dorzon as our only running back.  It would be nice if other teams had these kinds of problems for once.

  3. Nobody insulted the guy. Everyone knows how promising a player he is. But you also would have to say that the 5 running backs in front of him are no scrubs either ( Cornish, Harris, Whitaker, Sheets and Kackert).

yeah I would much rather have Kackert than Simpson.  :D

  4. But irrelevant because you've shown a massive anti-Bomber bias when evaluating our players for, oh I don't know, the last 5 years or so.  People don't forget.

I give Snuggles aka Mr. "Classless" as much credence as I do Kapt. Krunch on the other site.  According to these guys, all of our players are "garbage" and when we do ever win its always a fluke.  Of course, when we lose, the I told you so's come raining down.  It's no different than everything else, some people are assholes who just want to **** on your team/political party/life and they'll always find a justification for it.

  5. Apparently it wasn't as obvious to some but, it should be common knowledge for football fans that when you replace a proven player at a position with a prospect there is usually a learning curve and drop off at the position before any real progress is made. Thinking you can just 'plug in' a prospect (even a sophomore) at the professional level without a drop off initially, is just foolish.

Now a team that goes from GC finalist to out of the playoffs the following year (in spectacular fashion too boot) should be enough proof of the kind of drop off you can have if you go too far.

In spectacular fashion? Burke lets Palardy kick the FG against the Riders in the Banjo bowl and we're in the playoffs.

  6. Because the SMS is complete garbage that's why, a community owned team hasn't won the cup since the SMS came in. The last 5 Grey Cup winners have all been private owners with Braley and Wetenhal tied at 2 each, lol.

It's a paper sham, the perks and bonuses that those two pay out on the side to players/coaches wives/girlfriends would make your head spin.

I'd love to hear what perks and bonuses you know are being paid on the side.

  7. who would you have gone out and got?

wait.  You aren't supposed to ask that.  You're just supposed to nod your head and agree that we should have gone out and signed all of these magic free agents that existed in fairy land.  That's the way to look like a football genius.

  8. I am not sure what Hervey is thinking here.  He also made his mini-camp off-limits to media, which in Winnipeg would have caused Paul Friesen and crew to crap their entitled diapers.  You can get away with things when you are a winning team, but I don't see the Eks winning more than 3 or 4 games this year. Hervey is a rookie GM, he may want to play a little nicer.  And yeah, using Mike Kelly in this context is totally comparable.  Ultimately, you can be a prick, but you can't lose and be a prick.

  9. Oh, is it the Grey Cup next week?  Nope, wait, still 17 more games after that one.  Win or lose I'll still be on an even keel.  Maybe start panicking after 0-4 but if we're 0-1. you'll have to excuse me for not freaking out.  And if we're 1-0. I won't be planning a parade, either.  It's one game.

I'll be planning the parade.  I love parades.

  10. The Argos are the biggest charity case in professional sports... never have I seen a team receive so many handouts in the form of star players and straight-up cash.  I'd be embarrassed to be a fan of that team.

the only real consolation of being a fan of the Argos in Toronto is that you are basically anonymous.  Kind of like me being a fan of the Fremantle Dockers of the AFL here in Canada.
