  1. It's only one game. I wouldn't get too high or too low on the kid. I still think Reilly will be a fine QB in this league, but he's going to take his lumps as many first year starters do.

Yeah I agree.  I wish the kid had given the Bombers a chance to sign him instead of taking this suicide mission with Edmonton.  Behind a decent o-line or even our o-line who knows how good this kid could be. Right now I just hope he makes it out of Hamilton next week alive.

  2. As soon as I noticed Buck rolling out on most plays, I started watching the inside blocking. Morley was getting beat far too often.

That holding call he had killed a good drive we had going on one of Simpson's few good runs and really set us back.  Bad penalties at the wrong times killed us last year, and they killed us again last night.

  3. I just watched Tim Burke's post-game scrum on the Bomber website.  He didn't sound too happy with Buck's performance.  He said Buck was too wound up and was getting the ball off far too early, before the play was developing.  I have a feeling that the Bomber coaches are going to make Buck's life a bit miserable the next few days after they study the game film as there were just too many blown opportunities and open guys that Buck wasn't hitting.

Burke also said the lack of run production was due to Montreal "stacking the box".  I've heard this term a lot over the years, and clearly it's a strategy that is used a lot to beat us by league defences.  I am assuming that this means that they are forcing Buck to beat them with his arm, and as he proved last night, he'll throw the ball away or make bad choices if he receives a lot of pressure.  The next game will go a long way to showing if the Bombers game plan changes to deal with this, and also if Buck can settle down and work with a gameplan designed to take away this strategy.  If Watson and Etienne were left alone all night and the ball wasn't getting to them then changes have to be made ASAP.

  4. DT is the kind of position you don't appreciate until it slips. Actually both lines are that way. Those are all interesting options but I belive it will just be Anderson subbing in and the rest status Quo. Hopefully he can play well and if he goes down Lucas being in the game will be better than Thomas was.

You mean Zach Anderson?  He's a DE not a DT.

  5. wow, lets hope the next DT can bring some heat cause our push was non existant after he was gone.

Yup.  It was no coincidence that Grandpa went from inaccurate happy feet/crapping his Depends/missing easy wide open receivers to the AC of 10 years ago in the 4th quarter when our bull-rush vanished.  I didn't think Gilmore was that effective until I saw how different the Als offence played with him out.

So now what.  Do we get Carroll back again?  Or pick up Huntley?  Or start Lucas with Thomas backing him up and start an extra import at receiver?  Watson can sit down for all I care, or back up Etienne next game, while we get Pierce or Anderson some playing time.

  6. I need a screen cap of that bit from Corner Gas where Oscar yells at the kids to get the F off his lawn, and they pan over and two kids are standing there holding a giant letter F.

yeah I laughed at that scene, not because of the pun with the F word, but because it was so implausible that kids in Saskatchewan would know what a letter of the alphabet was.

  7. hmm but is that because he's really the 3rd best or because Lulay is young and doesn't get hurt much so the Lions want a younger project taking 2nd string reps so they have a future plan for after Lulay? Where Elliott actually stands with the Lions will only be seen if something happens to Lulay this year. To me he's there as insurance in case their project guy isn't able to step in should they need to turn to #2

yeah that's right.  But that being said, he's also there because he's not expected to play a down all year.

  8. People are saying Mack is an awful person ? Not sure its an argument that actually exists. Generalizing but it boils down to two things.

    1. Fans have a problem with him over his failure or perceived failure to improve the team.

    2. Media has a problem with him because over the majority of his tenure he has made himself unavailable or unhelpfull. They also have no choice but to report on the lack of success.

    Both, generally, are fair game.

so as a GM, Obie in Hamilton sucked almost as bad or worse, yet you didn't see sports-writers like ****** Madani or slapnut Zurkowsky bashing Obie on Twitter etc.  I just don't get the excuse that Mack is hated purely for his record, or that he's somehow been some bad guy to the media.  It just doesn't add up.

  9. I don't think that's right.  Looks like Edem to me.

The Alouettes usually start 8 Canadians, 5 OL, one NI receiver, Shea Douchebag and a Canadian at safety (though I think Hebert played some safety last year too after they cut Broulay).  It looks to me like Edem is starting.  Man if we can give Buck even two steamboats to throw....

  10. on another note, if Jade is going up against Hebert all night in the slot, I couldn't think of a better guy I'd want him to be defended by right now in the CFL for his first game.  If he can't gain a ton of confidence beating that guy all night like a rented mule, then I don't know what will do it.

Also - starting their rookie first round pick at safety - yikes!  He may be good, but no way is he ready yet to be starting.

  11. Hebert will be a wil, Cox is their sam. Even still, Hebert sucked at that position when he was with us. Hopefully getting older hasn't changed that. Another thing we need to exploit is a rookie at safety.

The Als D doesn't scare me. I think we can put some points up tomorrow night..

Right - Cox is their SAM.  On their pre-season depth chart (which is the one I was going off of) the roles were reversed, or just wrong.  The Al's D is definitely not very scary, other than the two cheap-shot artists Kuale and Emry, but those guys are mostly tough after the whistle or behind the play.  I hope Mr. January and Mr. Sorenson sort those two ****-heads out really fast if they want to be assholes again this year.

  12. our natural position is having the most Grey Cup Championships and the best record by far in the Grey Cup game.

This kind of reminds me of the rich kid in high school who shows up one day at school bragging about the new BMW his parents bought for him.  He didn't earn it, his family dynamic is totally messed up as they don't really show him much love (like the Argo fanbase) and even though he's got a nice car and you're driving a piece of junk, you just feel pity more than envy.
