  1. I can't even imagine what the excitement level would be like if we got Matthews. Just crazy.
  2. Burmi reminds me of the Steen-Lindstrom-Lundholm line of the 1980's Jets. Lots of skill but always one move too many.
  3. Still remember Rod Black's famous line: "Teppo sets the tempo". Ugh.
  4. Kito Poblah also coming to camp apparently. He's been working out with Kamau Peterson in the off-season.
  5. Teppo was definitely the friendlier of the two.
  6. I was living in Calgary in the 1990's and one day I am in Eau Claire (downtown Calgary) and a cab pulls up and Teppo Numminen and Keith Tkachuk get out. I was in awe. I just said "It's great to meet some Winnipeg Jets in Calgary!" and they both were so happy that someone in Calgary recognized them that they hung out with me while I walked around the mall with them. One of the greatest " random meeting your sports heroes in public" days of my life. Teppo and I had a lot of fun bugging Tkachuk about the giant contract he had just signed, that was fun.
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_NHL_Entry_Draft When I look at that 1992 draft there's a whole lot of "who the hell are these guys?" going on. I don't really know who else Smith could have taken that would have been any better, other than Martin Straka and maybe Michael Peca, who went in the second round. Good get in the ninth round though - Khabby!!
  8. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/374151291.html Any chance we get Mulumba up here this year???
  9. This one is still my all time favorite. Probably because he's hitting an Oiler.
  10. Yeah, the fact that they are complete suicidal nutbars bent on killing all infidels would have nothing to do with it.
  11. after Fergie was fired though the Jets and all the Canadian teams were really getting screwed over with the exchange rate and the fact that there was no salary cap. The Canadian teams, especially the small market ones like Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Quebec, couldn't afford to pay any stars. I still remember when Chicago offered Tkachuk a $6 million signing bonus that Winnipeg had to match just to keep him. It was ridiculous. Hard to compare those years to current NHL, which has a much more level playing field.
  12. All I said was that he crapped the bed taking Jimmy Mann. I didn't offer an opinion on Fergie's drafting prowess overall. Overall he did ok. Hawerchuk was pretty much a gimme, he would have gone first overall no matter who was picking. Kind of like saying that the Oilers are awesome at drafting because they took McDavid in 2015.
  13. Any updates on Kyle Connor signing yet? Or does he have to finish his semester of school first?
  14. Yikes. Sign Connor now!
  15. I thought Twilight Zone the movie did a good job on this same story...Lithgow>Shatner in my opinion...
  16. Sopranos finale totally ruined that song for me.
  17. Garrett Waggoner - not a strong ST player (apparently), but nice hair though! That's the only thing I need to base an opinion on him!
  18. yeah I was thinking Rocky DiPietro and Tyrone Jones.
  19. Messier was selected in the 1979 entry draft in the third round by the Oilers. The Jets took Jimmy Mann and Dave Christian ahead of Messier in that draft. Lowe went two picks after Mann in the first round, so we could have had Lowe too if we'd taken him instead of Mann. Fergy really crapped the bed with Jimmy Mann. So to sum up - and I know hindsight is 20-20 - Lowe, Messier and Gretzky all could have been Jets.
  20. Not sure why you are tarring Waggoner with the Poblah brush. At least Waggoner played all year and contributed. Richards and Etienne, now there's a comparative.
