Five players fined after week 3.....Picard!
If it makes people pause .. makes people think twice about taking liberties with our players .. slows someone down for just a second .. and doesn't hurt OUR team .. then I have no issues with it at all.

Ask Calgary. I think he was simply being facetious.

He was suspending by the Cats for not showing up to camp or having any sort of contact with the organization for those three months .. ultimately an independent arbiter found that the contract was legal and binding (though a judge later found that Williams was not legally bound by the terms of his contract) .. the CFL was going to appeal the decision but the Cats and Williams reached an agreement to let him explore NFL opportunities .. if he wanted to play in either 2013-14 he had to play for the Cats .. that was their agreement. So yes, he was allowed to take a shot down south but he had agreed to come back and play out the original term of his contract in Hamilton (meaning his contract tolled while he was exploring his opportunities - he could have realistically sat at home under the guise of exploring NFL interest and not reported back to the CFL for those years). "Off season" is simply a poor choice of words on my part.

Well .. technically he won .. he and the Tigercats reached an agreement that he would be allowed to explore NFL opportunities that offseason and that if he wanted to play in the CFL in either 2013-14 he would do so in Hamilton.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why in the world would Hervey have to prove anything. A contract was offered and accepted. If the player wants a 1+1 then the player should demand it and refuse to accept the offer on the table. Yeah I don't understand that either. Is there anyone who can explain the reasoning behind that? If Edmonton only offers 2+1 shouldn't it be up to the player and his representation to say "I want a 1+1 contract? I suspect Hervey told him he couldn't offer the 1 plus 1 and that is the heart of the issue. Wasn't that the driving force between whatshisname and the tiger cats when he alleged the same thing, that Austin hadn't offered him the 1 plus 1? I could be out to lunch here. Williams fought the same thing while he was with the Cats.

McCoil filed a grievance with the CFLPA alleging that the Eskimos didn't offer him a 1+1 (which would allow him to pursue NFL interests after this season) .. says was only given a 2+1 ,, Hervey now needs to prove that a 1+1 was offered and that McCoil refused it.

Hervey is in a bit of hot water with respect the the McCoil contract situation .. not speaking to media after practice today.

Bomber injury updates
And yet .. Willy *HAS* been spreading the ball around a fair bit. Game one: 7 different players with receptions Game two (between Brohm and Willy) 6 different players with receptions Game three: 6 different players with receptions Willy is going to go where his reads take him .. based on what the defense gives him .. based on the play call ..

Agreed. I mean they have it in curling with Hog line infractions. How someone hasn't figured out how to put the technology into other sports yet it strange. The only thing with something like a laser is you can break it with your foot and not the ball (See the reply ) I can see in hockey, them installing the same technology into the puck as they have in curling and once it crosses a certain line it lights up. Would take a lot of guess work off the refs. Not sure how they would do that with a football. But if there are any inventors out there that want my idea I want a 30% royalty The technology for curling is a bit different as it simply records if the players hand is still on the handle of the rock as it crosses the hog line. Where do you put the sensor in the football? The ball only needs to touch the goal line for it to be in, you would have to make the entire football able to become a sensor and that seems like a near impossible task. The solution to me is to accept that there will be human error in the officiating and just deal with it. Ditch all the reviews and just let the refs do their job and hold them to a standard FIFA has a few different "approved" goal line systems and I'm sure they'd be easily (relatively speak) adopted to football .. that said, you'd likely see it in the NFL long before it was adopted by the CFL .. interesting little overview of how that stuff works: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jun/16/world-cup-goalline-technology-football-brazil-2014 Most of those are still camera based and won't work as well in football, and one of the magnetic ones requires the frame of the goal to use it. I suspect the cost for the one that might work for football is prohibitively expensive for a league such as the CFL. We just need to stop pretending that there is a solution to take human error out of the officiating and accept that mistakes will be made. I have no evidence to back it up but I would suggest that the quality of officiating is lower since replay was introduced simply because the refs are using replay as a crutch. Doesn't matter if they make a poor judgement, replay will catch it. It's why I suggested it would likely be adopted by the NFL first (even if it was feasible) .. the cost to develop, test and implement such a system is way outside the realm of what's reasonable for the CFL.

Attendance
I think a later start time is all that's needed .. speaking as a guy with a family .. it's hard to make it home from work, get the kids .. get ready to roll and then make the stadium for a 6pm game .. and I live close by. If the team was doing well .. and the stadium was selling out (increasing traffic) .. I can only imagine it being that much harder to make kick off.

Fire Richie Hall
If we were a little bigger up front, and better at keeping linemen off our linebackers, I'd not be against the idea of running a 3-4 .. but as it is, we had trouble controlling gaps when we went to a 5-2 in obvious running situations. We simply don't have the bodies ..

Honestly.. this couldn't be shaping up better for the Bombers .. now of course this means they'll lose by 20 .. but the conditions are there!

Attendance
6pm is tight for a lot of people but honestly, it's the blowout against Hamilton which hurt more. The team doesn't have a lot of good will built up amongst casual fans .. so if it's a choice between spending hard earned entertainment dollars on a patio on a hot summer night, heading off to the lake, watching from home .. OR watching a consistently inconsistent team maybe possibly pull out a win in person .. it's not much of a choice (for the casual fan).

Bombers/Als Gameday Non-Chat Room Non-GIF Thread
They ran switches with Green all night somebody did not pick him up it was on Washingtons side all three times I believe. He was yelling at Adams after one big play. Three Bombers staying with one Al while Green got in behind them all. Both Washington and Adams were victims of biting on play action and leaving their area of the field open. Little bit of work but if they can clean it up we will be good shape.
