Jets reacted to Booch in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion ThreadSadly...this the stuff we shoulda been doing last yr...smh
Visions of Ceresna and Lawson consuming the attention of the entire enterior oline...and a rb kept in for pass protection...and having athletic ends attacking 1 on 1...or cutting inside with a dude like Griffin or Woodbey flying off the edge...delicious

Jets got a reaction from bb1 in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Threadsimilar vein but less restrictive. The CFL as a whole could benefit from trying to develop QBs.
Next time the cap is going up, the league should look at adding an extra roster spot for a developmental QB that is on the roster but is a gameday scratch. Can be American or Canadian. Then teams designate 1 player as their developmental QB. Ideally it's the same player all season, but if you set the salary to say 200k and then just divide it up by the season duration, you'll maybe entice some decent QB prospects who want to continue their career and not make CFL practice squad money.

It's not that they aren't important at all. But the way people are talking about Thomas and acting like the DL has no hope now is over the top. The biggest factor to how well the DL will do will be the talent that is or is not on it.

Jets reacted to wbbfan in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion ThreadYes and no. Some positional coaches are far more important, like QB coach. The 2 closest after that are both Line coaches. Line play is the next most important after qbing, but the adjustment to the game up here is big and we don't get polished blockers or pass rushers from the ncaa any more. Pretty much every imp T and pass rusher is a project of one sort or another.
Having a sub-optimal DL coach when we have JY and Hall running the D isn't the biggest deal. Thats part of why I'm not really worried about Jake. The bonus from him not being on the field any more is way bigger than any loss from having him coach the DL in the worst case. Player success doesn't directly translate to coaching success or failure either. A lot of great coaches have played but couldn't perform at the highest levels of their position group.
I would love to have a great DL coach. I would even go more modular with the defensive coaching staff, have a Coverage coach, a front coach (Jake) and a pressure/pass rush coach. Even bringing in some one like that just for camp could be a big boost. Some one who can coach the finer points of rushing and winning battles with technique and athleticism.

Jets got a reaction from Bigblue204 in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion ThreadNot to mention a positional coach running some drills in camp and practice and breaking down some film is a far cry from drawing up schemes and roster management that a coordinator or HC would be responsible for. A lot of hand wringing over what should be minimal impact.

If the team is paying Brady this much then they need to lean into an offense focused through him and take advantage of having a Cdn RB by playing another American on offense. Either go three American Olineman or play 4 American receivers. No need to trot out a crappy Cdn centre/guard or Cdn receiver that is no threat to do anything.

Jets got a reaction from BigBlueFanatic in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion ThreadIs it just me or does it seem counterintuitive to pay up for the "ratio breakers" with the way O'Shea uses his roster?
Don't get me wrong, I know the CFL is all about how good your Canadian talent is, but part of me thinks there's no point paying 250k+ for a star Canadian RB/DB/WR/whatever because we aren't maximizing our roster with the ratio to play the most American talent anyways.
With the way MOS just plays 8-9+ marginal Canadian starters and rotates in 3-4 more, we'd almost be better off with 10-12 good but not great Canadians and save our money overpaying for the Canadian starter at a non-traditional position. I wish we would utilize the fact that we have the luxury of a Canadian RB by using the extra American on the DL or OL, but instead most games we just trot out 7+ more Canadians at the regular spots too...

That's been the complaint about Osh for years. He trots out extra Canadians at positions where we have better American players. It goes on every year & then he scratches his head wondering why it didn't work in big games that we needed to win. he has never maximized our roater properly. We really don't know how good we can be.

Jets got a reaction from Piggy 1 in Permission to talk: Is O'Shea leaving?Glass half full view is that maybe O'Shea having one foot halfway out the door this offseason is very positive for the next few season(s).
If we had just quietly re-signed him and Walters to extensions, they probably just happily carry on with the status quo and continue the decline.
I'm hoping that O'Shea going out and interviewing and getting some input from other teams lit a fire under his ass to come back here and do a serious re-load with a fresh outlook and new ideas.

Jets got a reaction from BomberBall. in ESF Bombers @ Als - Early ChatAbsolutely maddening depth chart.
If we're so high on Canadian talent, why are our 2 talented rookie Canadian LBers not sufficient backups? It's to the point where we're rostering 2 DI LBs as backups along with them and once again completely nerfing the pass rush.
Seems like we actually generated some pressure last week with the young DL on the roster. We'd better get them swapped off quick to get as many reps as we can for weary Willy, and tepid Thomas.
Our DL is so washed up they don't even need to shower after the game.
