So we need a scout from Calgary and a receiving coach from there too?

Who is our receivers coach?  Is it the same guy who couldn't figure out how to use Adarius Bowman in 2010, cut him and then got to watch him be one of the top receivers in the CFL for the next 5 years, most of that working for TSN?
The only guy we've kept for more than one season in that PR/fringe player role is Lankford.
I'm not sure Calgary is any better at bringing guys up or in who they choose to bring to camp beyond the obvious ones like Daniels, but they sure as hell are better at developing receivers and giving guys time to develop.

Can we hire someone from the stamps to find us some players.....Where the hell do they get these guys....Makes our recruiting look pathetic...Latest star Beggleton….they just keep coming for the stumps and we can't find a receiver to save our lives

I don’t know about the negativity guys. I think we now have a good chance to win. I’ve been very busy over the bye week. I snuck into LaPo’s office and stole a playbook that they’ve been reliant on this year.

All you have done is reinforce the fact that this organization failed to hire qualified, experienced people.

My point was that he had a lousy resume for a GM and was not really successful in his prior jobs. His resume for building our Canadians is great but honestly to an extent a little overated here. Half the team is americans and his scouting here is not good enough.

Every coach and gm, past and present, bring valuable things to the table - even the Mike Kellys and Kavis Reeds of the world.  That's not a compelling enough reason to keep them.  Do those valuable things outweigh all the non-valuable or bad things they bring to the table?

My first question is will the Bombers start Streveler against Montreal?
My second question is what is MOS and Walters doing to right the ship?
My third question is based on the  answer to the second question: why are you doing what you are doing?
It breaks down to management philosophy ... are we sticking to what we recruited in training camp?
It sure seems that way ... I can't recall one newbie since camp (other than maybe replacing some Canadian special teamers)
Hamilton have made trades and just signed Chad Owens ... BC has brought in more receivers, Toronto switched QBs and is rehabing Carter, Chris Jones doesn't sit on his hands ... top teams might be able to stand pat but those of us with losing records need to fix what is broken ... we have a long record of being passive even before MOS came to town ... are we being delusional by standing pat?
In the very least can we develop Streveler into a starter and the leader needed to win a Grey Cup, finally ... winning Cups are not a statistical probability, they have to be soundly earned
Cutting Bond was bad judgment as was not replacing Loffler and Ritchie Hall
We are not even tinkering in our downward spiral ... even a couple of adjustments earlier may have led to a winning record
I am very close to giving  up on this club and focusing on The New England Patriots, perhaps the best coached team in the world

Here's one for you....beating an improved Mont. team is not a slam dunk by any means...Popkin...or whatever his name is hitting targets all over the field....Their D is starting to swarm like their old days...They don't need to start Johnny football cuz what they have is going to be a challenge...AND IF we do drop the next one say goodbye to 18' and most likely to our not so illustrious coach...Playing at IGF is not the advantage it used to be and Streveler will have to have a great game...O'Say says he's starting Nichols....I doubt he finishes...BUT surprise the hell out of me Mike and Matt

Isn't it human nature to release your emotions at sporting events? When the team is doing well, you're happy, you cheer, when the team does poorly what are you supposed to do? Detach your emotions from the team and not care?
Of course I just sit there observing no matter what is happening, but for you full-humans out there, cheering and jeering is a two-way street. Perhaps now as his performances have worsened, Nichols will learn this. For those of you who are against booing that's your prerogative, now don't try to take away someone else's freedom of expression.

maybe a shock collar that can be buzzed when he's staring down a receiver in double - triple coverage and is ready to pull the trigger!

    Thank you.
    You nailed it.
You can definitely argue that letting JFG go and then switching to an all-possession receiver NI receiving corps was a huge mistake.
None of the Cdn talent they brought in is any better than JFG, as evident by the stats.

I can see your point, but unfortunately I do feel this way about Wade and the BOD. I think Wade is a business man first, and the Bombers are a government run business, controlled by a government appointed board not, a private owner.
Win at all costs, including bending the rules, is tied to the ego of a private owner many times. A dispassionate government appointed board will not take those chances, or put winning ahead of other government and fiscal responsibilities. Not sure you can win anymore in the CFL without being all-in, and I dont think the BOD would ever agree to let Miller or anyone else make the moves necessary to be all-in.

So stockpiling 10 nat receivers is a good thing when, at most, only 2 of them should be playing?
None of them are going to be Derrel Walker or Duke Williams good. Why waste those draft picks just for guys to be long term PR fodder?

    Separate, and yet related.
    - What bothers me is the thought that Regina thinks they beat us in two games. One team did beat us, but it wasn’t them..
    - I think l LaPo knows an awful lot about offensive playmaking. Unfortunately, he applies more of the awful than the playmaking. There’s a severe difference between what he knows and how he uses that knowledge.
    - Mr. Nichols. As we are seeing, he is a somewhat limited QB. He needs lots of support to have a decent game. And he has provided decent games. But he hit the lowest of lows last game. He was stripped of the veneer of a smart, efficient QB. Hard talk and film study will only get you so far, and as we now realizing, we may not be going far at all.
    - The combination of LaPolice and Nichols. - From the BC game until this last fiasco, we have seen an offence that gets stymied easily and finds no way to find a way to keep our offence on the field. 7 losses. Half of which could have been avoided with just a few first downs in each game. Pitiful.
    - I don’t believe I’ve ever seen 2 pick six TDs, in the red zone, by Linemen. Total disaster and a sign of a flailing ball club. I feel sorry for the players who are playing hard and watching their season getting flushed.
    - Tell me, is there a default setting in LaPolice’s offence? Because it seems when things look to be working, the plays default back to predictable calls or head scratching calls..
    - Saskatchewan- held to 6 FGs.. 18 points. Plus the 2 TDs we gave them. Sickening.
    - Really good news from the CFL head office this week - the Bombers aren’t playing due to a bye..
    - I thought there was a déjà vu moment on Monday Night Football The first pass of the game was a pick six. What I want to know is who’s messing with me?
    - The more I watch CFL games and the offences those teams run, for the most part, the less I think of LaPo’s play calling..bottom third in the league.
    - And to think I thought Nichols was a better QB than Masoli..
    - 17 is not a friendly number for the Bombers..either getting stuck at that number on offence or donating to the opposition.
    - And finally, time for O’Shea to be more of a hard ass. His coaching style is wearing thin.

That's great and he has made an impact, but it is not enough on its own.
1 good player out of 5 is not going to get it done, particularly when the blanks are all in the same area (receiving corps)

The problem with trying to keep positive about this team is the steady downward spiral and the multitude of concerns: quarterbacking, inability to adapt the gameplan, and a suspect defence. Our import receivers are sub-par and the coaches underutilize the NI receivers. Where to begin?

This is all very true, but this team needs do do something different to get there. All those teams you mention made changes in season to improve.
The concern many have is that this team seems to be very resistant to making any adjustments.
That is at the core of the pessimism.

Fair enough, my point still stands though, currently the bombers are in control of their own destiny - and do not need outside help. I agree though that things look dire, but it's just been alot of doom and gloom around here lately. Further to my earlier point of all hope not being lost =after 12 games, last years' Grey Cup champs (the Argos) were also 5-7. The Redblacks the year before (2016) were slightly better at 6-5-1, my point is simply that the Bombers are still very much in the playoff race, despite their current efforts to be down and out. In the CFL it isn't how you start, it's how you finish...just look at the 2011 BC Lions.
