  1. How can Darrell Patterson be overlooked? And he's also our DL Coach!! Two Grey Cup rings with us. One as a player in 1984 & last season as an assistant coach. This guy is a Bomber through & through.
  2. Population mainly. The talent pool down there is larger. For every one good OL we produce, there are 30 that are as good or better in the US. We do have talented linemen yes but they want to play in the NFL. Some make their way back here but it takes years. Others play their entire career in the NFL & we never see them. The ones that stay here take a long time to develop as they can't block guys like Jefferson. Yet teams keep stubbornly trying to slot them in like a round peg in a square hole because of that damned ratio. The CFL would be much better served if they developed more Canadians to be starting linebackers, receivers & backs. Amazing how we could have stars back in the 60's. 70's & 80's like Gerry James, Joe Pop, Ken Nielsen, Jerry Campbell. Tom Forzani, Bob LaRose, Pete Ribbins, Steve Molnar, Rob McLaren, Joe Forzani, Bob Toogood, Larry Wruck, Doug Strong, Neal Beaumont, Gordie Rowland, Ed Learn, Larry Robinson & others but now Canadians don't play certain positions anymore because coaches want to slot in inferior Canadians on the OL so they don't have to play them anywhere else & Americans have taken over. Fans & media are wondering what's happened to the offense?? C'mon. Sorry if I'm preaching but it's frustrating that the CFL play guys they shouldn't play as starters & overpays a lot of them. Some Canadians do a great job blocking & deserve to be paid but the number of real quality linemen isn't much. Luckily, we have a few on our OL now. But just remember what we went through from 2012 to 2016.
  3. Hood was a pretty good receiver but he had a hard time fitting in with the all stars around him catching the ball at the time.
  4. Still have the bottle, I presume?
  5. Don't you also think 11 years is also long enough for our GM?
  6. One of the biigest problems the CFL has is using the OL for the ratio. It's killing offenses as Canadians just can't play up to the level needed to be successful. Now the Bombers are the exception to the norm as our guys do play & play well. But we've also seen teams struggle like the Riders & the Lions. Bad OL play is one of the main reasons that scoring is down. Blocking on the line is at times atrocious & qbs are getting injured. The 7 starters need to be spread out all over the roster not just on the line. This all started with Edmonton in the 1980's being able to field an All Canadian OL & winning a Grey Cup. Every team tried to emulate them. It's continued until today. The game is changing. American players coming up here are bigger & faster. Canadian OL struggle. We all see it. Some of these players shouldn't be on a CFL roster. Yet, because of their birth certificate they are & spend years playing lousy football for whatever team they're on. Canadian OL shouldn't be paid more than Americans at the same positions nor should they be starting if they aren't good enough to do so.
  7. The Canadian Tackles can't match the speed of the defensive linemen coming out of the NCAA today. They just don't play against guys like that in U Sports. They're years behind in development.
  8. It's more accurate because the throwing motion is more natural. The back foot in the ground anchors the body & there's little lean which means there is no over the top motion. It's all about the speed of hip rotation now as that is what generates the power. Just watch how Aaron Rodgers & Joe Burrow throw. Nothing like Peyton Manning or John Elway did. The game has changed. So too, has quarterbacking. In the CFL we have defensive linemaen like Willie Jefferson & Jackson Jeffcoat. In the NFL there's Aaron Donald & Cameron Heyward. These guys are all athletic & fast. In order to be successful, qbs have to get rid of the ball faster & sometimes off balance which means they don't have time to "step into the throw" as they'll get crushed. They'll throw over as well as around charging linemen & linebackers to make their throws. https://www.instagram.com/p/CZMry66DNXS/ Dak Prescott was ridiculed on social media in 2021 for his pre game warm up routine. All by fans & media that don't understand the new mechanics of throwing the ball. This is what generates power in the throw, Strong hip rotation.
  9. Joe Zaleski, not Joe Jalesky.
  10. These Conservative provincial governments will be swept out one by one. I have nothing buit contempt for all of them. If canadians want pharmacare then it'll become a reality. The worst are the 20 something Conservative males who seemed to have been indoctrinated into the far alt right. Nothing but punks.
  11. Trudeau has had 6 years to bring in pharmacare & dental care. It's always been on the agenda & promised but Trudeau has never done a thing about it. If Trudeau decides he won't bring in these 2 changes to healthcare then the NDP will withdraw support & Trudeau will just make a deal with the Bloc who have 7 more seats than the NDP. It's all a game & about keeping power. This has nothing to do with what is best for Canadians but what is best for the Trudeau Liberals. This is NOT a coalition government. If it was, then members of the NDP would be put into Cabinet. Singh would have one of the most important portfolio's like Finance, Environment or Foreign Affairs. Other key NDP MP's would be included into Cabinet as well. They won't be. This is just getting the NDP not to vote down any bill creating a No Confidence situation in the government. The NDP are always broke. They always need time to pay off their election debt & fund raise. That's why there'll never be a true coalition government. Just the NDP preventing another quick election.
  12. The young guys coming up are all throwing the ball the new way. No more stepping into the throw. This ain't the way your Daddy threw the ball. Dom has a brick between the ears for brains. He's been in the league for 7 years & he's just as dumb now as he was a rookie. Let's assume Prukop has a better grasp for reading defenses & making the right decisions.
  13. In the past 15 years, have you ever known the CFL to be proactive? We used to be the league that revolutionized the game, Others would follow our lead. The CFL seems afraid to do that now. It's been shell shocked financially.
  14. Can't speak for Winnipeg & Manitoba as I live in Calgary but for football here in Alberta there is no cost for equipment at any level. Teams provide the equipment. Parents don't have to go out & buy anything other than cleats & gloves for their kids. The cost of the equipment is built into the fees. There's a fitting day before the first practice. Then the kids have to hand the equipment back at season's end. Parents do have to provide a postdated cheque for an amount that would financially hurt (like $1,000) if the equipment goes unreturned by a certain date or if things are damaged or missing & that's it. It never gets cashed if the equipment is returned & is useable for the next season. Tackle football in Alberta is one of the most affordable sports there is.
  15. I had this sticker on the back window of my 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham at the time. It came with my season ticket package for 1985.
  16. If the refs want to slow the game down they can do it. It can be frustrating at every level of play.
  17. All they seem to know how to do is to drive salaries & costs up by greedy GMs. Some random coach who knows a few NFL contacts but has no idea how to run a business are put in charge as GM & then go nuts spending on free agents. No team seems to have a person in place who is above the GM in charge of the day to day business operations of a CFL team. Every team has a President but the day to day operations are left to goofs like Chris Jones & Pinball Clemons. They need to be reigned in by a guy who tells them "NO!!!" I believe that this will be Bo Levi Mitchell's last year in Calgary as the starter with Jake Maier coming up behind him. The biggest mistake Dickenson would make is if he gave little playing time to Maier because Mitchell refuses to come out of games or the HC is stubborn to keep him playing when he struggles. BLM needs a short leash but not a long one. As far moving the hash marks yes, do it!!
  18. I'm good for anything that will utilize a very underutilized Drew Wolitarski. He's a great receiver but is wasting away. Right now, the guy who would be a great Commissioner would be Mark Cohon. He understands the CFL, the fans & how to market our game. Dark day when he left.
  19. Every offensive player seems to like it. Claim it'll open up the boundary side of the field which is underutilized. Booch? What do you think?
  20. I think Randy & the BOG's want to merge with the USFL & XFL for the purpose of being a developmental league for the NFL. I think the USFL & XFL were created to merge. I think the CFL is worried they'll miss out on the gravy train if they don't go along with it as well. The NFL will pour $$$ along with tv money going into it would be huge. If the NFL backs it, then it would be here to stay. That's where I believe Ambrosie & the BOG's is angling the league toward going to 4 downs. I don't know about you guys but to me it's obvious. With the CFL struggling financially I think it's inevitable. It will be a business decision.
  21. Well, I think you have to go eventually one of 2 ways (or both). Either the ratio is dumped or 3 downs. My concern about dumping the ratio completely is with all the new leagues coming into play that there may not be enough players at certain paositions from the US if they dumped the ratio entirely. So, that would be a concern. Regarding 4 downs, Do Canadians really want the larger field & 3 downs? Attendance would say otherwise. TV ratings say another. Let's face it, only the opinions of fans aged 18-34 count because advertisers target them. All of us over that age become less important the older we get. The CFL wants to attract a younger demographic. If survey show that younger audiences prefer 4 down football with American rules than it'll happen., I believe. Which is why Randy Ambrosie is not denying it won't. So, we old fogies can huff & puff all we want. We can bluster all day long about 4 down football. In the end it won't matter. what we want. Ambrosie's refusal to deny 4 down football will ever happen tells us what may be coming down the line.
