  1. When he was here as a young kicker he improved greatly on his punting with and against the wind and his placement. He had really good mentors. The NFL is a different animal though. It is about hang time so you can force the fair catch. The narrow field lessens the need for placement. The hashes are so close together that you are always kicking from near the middle of the field and the angle to get it to the numbers in the NFL isn't even getting it past the other hash marks in the CFL. There are so many adjustments going from one league to the other. Ryan is finding out it extends to kickers too.
  2. I think someone thought Chris Matthews needed a steak knife (or fork) and look where that got him.
  3. Unless someone offers significantly more money. That's football...and life.
  4. The hit on Rempel was legal. The rule says you cannot hit him until his lifts his head. He lifted his head and got hit - in that order. What do you expect the league to do? There is no rule that you cannot hit someone hard. Rempel will look at the film and say that he should have stayed lower as he brought his head up. It's no different than skating through the neutral zone with your head down. I preach about protecting players all the time. But I don't want anyone refereeing based on how injured a player was after the play.
  5. You don't blame the patient for his disease. He is a Roughrider fan, and that can be terminal. With your donations, compassion and prayers he may just beat it. Give to the United Way in your area to give a helping hand to all those less fortunate to you. With your help we can all make our country a better place.
  6. I don't know that they would consider that all that bad. 5.2 over the entire spectrum probably translates to a reasonable rating for males 18 to something. That would be the only demographic their sponsors would be interested in. Then again, Noeller usually knows what he is talking about and they don't have very many commercials, which usually equates to a change in format coming soon. I don't listen very often - and even less as soon as the Jets start skating again. But I would miss the option of listening to uninformed and misguided CFL commentary (Bauming excluded).
  7. Also just in: a local reporter saw what he believed to be the Easter Bunny at IGF this morning.
  8. Everybody can just believe what they want. Sports fans debating is like American politics. If you don't like the story, make something up and that can now be your truth.
  9. Yes, but we will still hear people screaming about it being flag football the next time a Bomber gets flagged for tackling a QB low. Our entertainment is far more important than merely someone livelihood and quality of life. I paid $50 for this ticket and I expect to see someone I don't cheer for in pain for the rest of their life!
  10. I don't know anyone that I respect who thinks that Bob is just a cheerleader. He is not going to burn his sources though. Teams leak things to whom they want and to whom they trust.
  11. Why does everyone want to come to a verdict on this? We don't know whether he accidentally took a contaminated product or if he has been juicing for some time. We will never know. And does it matter? Is it going to mean that you won't cheer if he converts an important first down or scores a TD? There is a lot of emotion and completely unfounded supposition being thrown out for no reason.
  12. So we have people assuming that the club had no plan B if their 32 year old running back was unable to play for a few game at some point in the season? The problem is that plan B may have incorporated the forward pass, and our QB hasn't developed that small part of his game yet.
  13. Don't you miss the days when Stegall would lead the league in yardage and we would finish every season at 3-15? Don't you wish we were as good as BC and Toronto with all their 1,000 yard receivers?
  14. Probably. 6'3" with the exchange rate would still only be 5'10" American.
  15. There is always a project QB on the practice roster by early September. But that is just to see if they are worth bringing to training camp next year. That will still happen. They need to bring a QB with real CFL experience in case they need someone to play this year. There is no need for that guy to be here before they hit the practice field next week. That person may already be signed for all we know.
  16. Then they put in McGuire. If he goes down then they just run direct snaps to Harris. If you are putting in your third string QB in a game that the number 1 and 2 went down, then that guy is not bringing you back to win. The game needs to be run out one way of the other. NFL teams, such as the Patriots, only dress 2 QB's al the time. The only reason CFL teams usually dress 3 is because they are exempt from the roster rules. If it meant they could play another position player, most coaches would only dress 2. That was the way it was before they changed the rule.
  17. The NFL settled Kap's suit already. But there is no way he is going to come back to football. He has too much to lose in sponsorships if he came back and looked like he did the last year and a half that he played. People remember him from the couple of seasons before the rest of the league adjusted to the RPO.
  18. What would you line up against that? Fill the gaps and force Strevelor to beat you with his arm. He is going to have to get the ball downfield. Not hard because it will be man, but he still has to go through his reads and make it happen. I hope he can do it. It will be exciting though.
  19. Matt played from 83 to 96, so 14 years. Nichols has from 2010 to now, so 9 years to this point. Matt was a starter almost from the beginning and played a cavalier style. But the point is that more muscle mass doesn't mean fewer injuries. It usually has more to do ligaments and tendons. Name me a running back with fewer lost games due to injury than Charles Roberts.
  20. I would have no problem with bringing in Bridge for a look as a number 3. The guy has won games in this league and he could pull one out coming off the bench down the stretch.
  21. If only he was big and strong like Doug Flutie, Damon Allen and Kevin Glenn he would be able to handle rigors of being a CFL quarterback. Biggest arms on a QB I can think of were attached to Matt Dunnigan, and how much time did he spend on the IR?
  22. Has anyone ever seen them in the same place at the same time?
  23. Why does everyone assume it is Lapolice who wants to run a conservative offense? He is not the head coach. Or are you assuming that Lapo is really in charge and tells O'Shea to stay out of his business? Whichever it is, I am not in any hurry to change. This is the way the Bombers won their last two Grey Cups. And it is how Calgary won it in 2018. The Bombers never won a championship with Dunnigan, Brock or Khari.
  24. You talk like players are actually people with feelings and rights and stuff. You keep talking like that and you won't be allowed on the internet.
  25. Only those who have never coached.
