  1. You missed one word in the title to this thread. It should "Our STARTING QB's name is …"
  2. Good point on the blocking. The difference in the run game last game was the blocking from the receivers. Big difference.
  3. The usual suspects taking their veteran's day by the sound of it. We are fairly healthy for this time of year. Is anybody going to practice this week? I would be interested to hear how Collaros looks.
  4. I wonder when they started to keep records by position like this? Positions used to be much more fluid. For instance, Ken Ploen played a lot of halfback and a lot of quarterback. Has someone actually gone back and determined which carries were as one position or another? I am sure there was a lot of this up until the 70's or so.
  5. How many tickets would the Bombers sell if they had to double the prices? They would not be able to purchase medical insurance that would cover them while they live in the States for less than $20,000 (USD) a year - and that would include very high co-pays, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket max's. And that is even if they could get it all.
  6. Lose one game and everyone has to go. The lack of patience from the fan base - and the board - is the very reason we have gone almost three decades between cup wins. The one thing about the current head coach is that he has successfully taken the bullet for the players' failures. Some people would say that is a sign of leadership.
  7. Hmm... trying to think of a team that has it's offensive and defensive philosophies and sticks to it no matter what. Oh yeah, it's the Stampeders under Hufnagel. He has been there long enough to know what types of players fit with his system and which do not. You should hear the Calgary fans complain when their team loses. It sounds just like this group here. You might be surprised the way many there talk about BLM. It doesn't sound anything like how other fan bases talk about him.
  8. Sure, most plays have multiple reads that can lead to several different routes being run or result in different progressions. For instance, any receiver may have three or more route options depending on whether there how the DB is shading or whether the safety is sitting high or moves up. If the QB and the receiver get one of those reads wrong, then it looks like the QB has a bad throw, takes a sack when he shouldn't, or takes the checkdown. The QB knows that he doesn't have to call an audible because the defense just told him that he has another option anyway. That is why QB's don't come into their own until they have been around for long enough to be able to process the defense. Running QB's do better out of the gate because they just run when they can't process what is happening. That will only go so far though. Sooner or later, he has to learn to make plays from the pocket.
  9. The Bombers lost a non-conference away game. It happens. They are in first place and have their fates in their hands. They play Sask once and Calgary twice. The season is not quite over yet.
  10. Did a double-take on the first name. This is not the Trevor Knight that was at Oklahoma and lost his starting job to Baker Mayfield.
  11. I love CFL football but I do agree with some of the points. Pass interference had swung way too far a few years ago. I had no idea what it even was anymore. I would watch NFL games and enjoy them more because they allowed the receivers and DB's to compete more. Since the commissioner stepped in a couple of years ago, it has become far better and the games are more enjoyable. I prefer the one challenge per game rule, but it is working okay this year by allowing a second. I often wonder if we would be better off to just ditch the challenge system. There are automatic reviews now at the right time anyway. Most instant replay shows that the officials make the right calls almost all the time. Fans are selectively blind or hallucinogenic when it comes to officiating and they see things that aren't there regardless of whether there is a review or not. Other than that, I think the game is doing very well. They need to tighten up on the head injuries though.
  12. That is not completely true. Like all of us, we love our money. But not like all of us, they know their window to earn it is limited.
  13. That absolutely sucks. Hamilton fans are some of the very best in the CFL.
  14. It is worse than that. I often get the feeling that the media doesn't watch practices, talk to the coaches or break down games. I understand fans not getting it, but I would hope that media would at least do their jobs.
  15. Why was #1 taken out of circulation from 1938 to 1983?
  16. It won't happen again while Fotty is handing out jerseys.
  17. Actually that's the mayor and council of Regina.
  18. Interesting. Lots to play for in the last third of the season. Lots at stake each week down the stretch.
  19. He is a seasoned vet. I would expect them to put him on the game day roster if he looks good in practice.
  20. Pat Neufeld practicing? Someone needs to do a DNA comparison to confirm this. I assumed he was in witness protection, so he may be taking his life in his hands by appearing in public.
  21. There is such a large gap between what the media thinks of players' value and that of the coaches. I know you would see a completely different list if the coaches were polled (anonymously).
  22. It is strange about how the media talks about Laurence compared to how they talked about the centre who was considered to be too dirty for the league (name escapes me). They had a camera isolated on him the entire game. Whereas Laurence is a leader.
  23. They just don't issue the numbers to players in the regular season. When was the last time you saw numbers 11, 28, 63, or 85 on an active Bomber player? It is a whole lot easier to get into the ring of honour than to have your number unofficially retired. The one that will never ever be reassigned will be 28. You have to be one of the first to jump out of a plane on D-day for that to get that number.
  24. as it should be. There is no such thing as a excess number of good Canadian linemen - especially olinemen.
  25. If it would make you angry then I am sure they won't do it. After all, appeasement of the fan base has been the key to the Bombers' success over the last 25 years.
