Sard reacted to 17to85 in GDT: EDMONTON @ WINNIPEG
Wait, this is the guy who crowed about how O'Shea was the terrible coach that made him give up his season tickets right?
Sorry bud, that's not being objective and not wearing rose coloured glasses that's being ******* stupid. O'Shea is the best coach we've seen here in a long long time and the way the team has come together for him and become the most entertaining team in the league is all the proof you need.
Sorry that you gave up on being a fan of the team, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Not game play related but really enjoyed the band they had last night. Was a lot better than most half time entertainment. Felt like it kept the energy up in the building. Hope they do it more often.

@Throw Long Bannatyne and @SpeedFlex27
There is very little difference in that play and any other play the Bombers run, other than one more person handling the ball. They obviously saw something in the Eskimo alignments that put forth an argument to try that play.
You guys didn't like it, fine, but don't talk to me about the ultra conservative play calling of LaPo anymore.

I just saw that infamous trick play for the first time today as I missed the first quarter. I see nothing wrong in calling that play. They saw something, they practiced it, and called it at the appropriate position on the field. It failed.
It's really no different than getting stuffed, getting sacked or missing a throw/catch. It was a loss of a down, nothing more, nothing less.
I for one, applaud any attempt to confuse, demoralize any team by using whatever means to BEAT them. Sometimes any play call doesn't work. Oh well, on to the next play.
Hindsight is not fulfilling for me..

He looked a lot like JFG to be honest. Sure handed and able to break a tackle. Probably not going to blow anyone out of the water but he's a nice Canadian depth piece.

There's a group of receivers who can't run routes and get by on pushing off and "winning" jump balls by handling DB's. BC has a couple, Trestman loves em (Richardson, Green), Duke Williams is certainly one. Barely seen that guy catch a ball aside from those

I would love to see Thorpe get into the end zone, that guy is such a valuable piece of the offense already.

Sard reacted to Judd in 3 stars plus HH broken esks streak edition
3 stars: Harris, Flanders, Nichols
HH going to Matthias Goossen
After watching on the pvr it was pretty apparent he drew 2 calls against them. There's a play where Nichols is reading what play to call and it looks like Goossen realized the esks had too many men then runs as fast as man can his size to snap the ball off. Good execution.
Then he snapped the ball early when their DE jumped too. A couple of heads up plays by an unsung guy

Sard reacted to Noeller in THE MORNING AFTER ....WITH COFFEE
We were talking about it after Suitor explained what was going on. ****... To be able to not only boom a punt that far is amazing to me, then to be able to exact a certain amount of precise spin ON TOP of that?? Gtfo...

Sard reacted to mbrg in THE MORNING AFTER ....WITH COFFEE
2 completely uncatchable helicopter punts!
How exactly did he get that bizarre rotation on those?
I've seen plenty of end-over-end punts before; I've never seen an end-around-end done for any meaningful distance.

Sard reacted to Mr Dee in THE MORNING AFTER ....WITH COFFEE
Two things I forgot to include. Must have been when I spilled my coffee..
??I forgot to include the absolute most BS call the CFL calls these days. A defensive contact penalty when the defender is holding his ground. This penalty was called last night when Cory Watson levelled Heath just as Loffler was intercepting Reilly's pass. Heath was NOT running and suddenly stopping (justification) but rather when he was just standing there. O'Shea challenged and lost. That's just wrong...IMO
??And secondly, on special teams, when the Eskimos tried that onside kick, well, aren't our players well Coached up on how to block on it. Between the time O'Neil kicked the ball and Adams snagged it, there wasn't an Eskimo still standing to try and retrieve it. They were all levelled. Beautiful to watch.

Not when he catches a bomb and scores a TD from it. Lankford has his moments and fights hard for extra yards. He's been a pleasant surprise. The Coaching staff will have some tough decisions to make. And, for a change, in a good way.

Also HH to the crowd. So loud our DL sacks a guy during a time out then Edmonton gets a penalty on the retaliation

Dont forget a blatant missed hold on watsons big one.

Can't disagree with any of these choices but I'd also like to mention TJ Thorpe. He is the perfect receiver for the Lapolice offence. He actually gets those first downs on the short throws. I love watching that guy play.

100% agreed. 0 value added, whatsoever.

Does anyone find the Hank Burris feature at halftime informative? I think he skims over things too fast & his voice is soft & hard to hear at times. Doesn't really explain things very well. Any comments? I thought LaPo was much better.

Sard reacted to SPuDS in Is MOS changing?
Sure, there requires some reading between the lines but I don't think hes often lying to the media or fans, nope.
-
Sard reacted to SPuDS in Is MOS changing?
uh, no offense but I'd trust the word of the coach then of some scribe from across the country..
What exactly would Mike Oshea, who rarely IF EVER has seemed to come across as someone who isn't a straight shooter, benefit from lying, essentially?
I consider Oshea to be a very up front and honest guy and he has yet to prove that otherwise.

Sard reacted to Mr Dee in CFL Week 8 Power Rankings
Tait calls a fumble a fumble, a mistake a mistake, systematic offence problems when they occur and maybe a word on talent depth. He does not question LaPolice's brain activity, nor Hall getting bent out of shape, nor a smirk on any individual on the team.
He can write about the team on many facets because he can write. He's got imagination, knows a lot about football, and doesn't allow himself to get cornered to any one area of a total team function.
He's heard the question, and the answers, but doesn't take everything at face value...because he can think.
How many times have we said or written that we are lipucky to have him? Well, here's one more...

Sard reacted to Noeller in Addison Richards Retires
...or crazy......but either way. This is how good teams do things. He toils on the PR for a year or two before he's ready to go......it's how the Stamps have done it for a long time, and how the Als used to do things. Nice to see us not rushing people into the spotlight....let 'em marinate awhile.

Sard reacted to Mr Dee in Addison Richards Retires
We simply can't "go back" and rethink these draft picks. There's no point. Everything was based on everything that was occurring at that time...not what might have been. The guy was a prospect, as are all eligible picks. It really is no big deal, especially when other picks seem to be working out well and Walters has kept his eyes open and replenished the NI receiver set.
Time to move on, as Richards seems to have done.

Sard got a reaction from SPuDS in Lock of the Week 8
I think TJ Thorpe is ready to put one in the end zone.
