Riders got what their arrogance and dishonesty deserved. In the end, they beat a poor team and lost to a mediocre one.

Doing things ironically is almost 20 years in the rear-view.  If you need a velour tracksuit to go bowling in, I know people.
More or less this.  I have no lingering issues from GC2001, and by all accounts Westwood the person is a decent dude, but Westwood the sports personality?  See above.
The breaking point for me was when Eugenie Bouchard was forced to withdraw from the US Open due to a concussion after a puddle related slip-and-fall in the locker room.  He absolutely went off on her, calling her an idiot for being so irresponsible, kept railing on how this was her fault and she should be blamed.  It was 100% pure *******.
So the current format for any panel show seems to be two or more people take a stance at the opposite end of the spectrum and yell at each other.  Apparently the loudest is declared the winner?  The audience is clearly the loser.  Picking something controversial to say and refusing to back down from it is informative?  If I'm listening to talk radio, I want to finish feeling smarter, not dumber.  Westwood drags it down to dunce-level, and he does it intentionally.
So Westwood's choice to be the guy who shouts contrarian positions is his own.  I'm sure he might have some knowledge and insight when it comes to football and locker room culture specific to the CFL, but beyond that, insight is not a word I would associate with his daily work on TSN.  His hockey knowledge consists of "being a Canadian".
There is no hate for Westwood.  What he's selling, I'm not buying.

This. Wide Lefty is a garbage radio personality and he constantly finds ways to ruin the discussion on The Big Show. It's nauseating.

Honestly don't care that much as I see pros and cons but would probably prefer TSN.
1290 has better production it seems, way less commercials and I just feel they'll be even better under the TSN banner going forward given the relationship with the CFL.  Bauming is one of the best at reporting on the CFL right now as well I find.   That being said, as other posters mentioned, Westwood is absolute garbage.  He can barely form a sentence half the time and I don't find him insightful at all... and more often then not he has his facts wrong whether its names, stats, etc.  He turns me off their entire show.
CJOB cares more about the Bombers it seems, I love Knuckles, and its not constant Jets coverage but it also feels old.  Yes I get the nostalgia factor but that is also the fact that their main listener is over the age of 60.  Where is the coverage going to go in the future?  Doug Brown does come up with some good things but he can also be extremely arrogant, on the air and in person.
Now if Irving moved to TSN, they got rid of Westwood and they got the rights, I would be ecstatic.

More profit in the short term, but doesn't mean they'd be healthier long term.
I fight this notion seemingly daily that the New Winnipeg Arena is not perfect at it's current size.  17,500 seat building would simply have a few thousand more upper deck / cheap seats and eliminate most of the pent up demand for tickets.  Same applies here, IMO.
Agreed, there's still tons of this out there.  I can't for the life of me understand why the "traffic is too bad crowd" drives to begin with.  Drive to any of the park & ride locations all over the city, get the $5 ride to the game. Get a ride back to P&R afterwards.  No fighting traffic leaving stadium, no fighting traffic at your P&R location - and chances are it'll be closer to home. Convenient & well run.

I also still hear from some people that "traffic out of there was terrible the last time I went" (which was in the first year) and I will never go back... I personally have never really had any issues with the traffic and I tell everyone who will listen, but some people just choose to use the first year hicups as an excuse.  Obviously just casual fans, but unfortunately you just can't convince some people once they've made up their minds.

I agree with the notion that the stadium is a little over built at its current capacity and that the demand isn't there.
Then I remember that we build stadiums every 50 years in this city so you might as well build it bigger as who knows what the population will be in say, 2030!  Could be the perfect size then!

In past years people have ripped the Bombers for their bush league approach to players, fan experience, cheapness, etc and how this was a reason that no free agents wanted to come here.  Therefore the points in this article (if true) are very relevant and do matter.
Yes winning is ultimately the main thing that matters and this group still has a lot to prove but one of the main ways we get better is to get better players.  You get them by treating them the way this blog described.
If we kept losing good players in free agency because the organization treated them like garbage then people would be screaming about that.

I don't think that certain areas of Canada are much different.  I stopped in Chilliwack this summer on my way home from Vancouver to catch the Bombers Lions game at Mr. Mikes.  I asked them if they could put the football game on in the lounge area and they put on a soccer game.  I said No, the LIONS football game, and they looked at me like I was from Mars.  I am in BC, only an hour out of Vancouver, and no one in the entire serving staff had heard of the Lions CFL team.  So I had to take the controller, change the channel to TSN, and show them what a LIONS football game looked like.  And then I had to tell a table full of old coots to shut up because they were mad that ONE single TV in the lounge with 10 TV's wasn't on the Blue Jays.  Argh there is a lot of truth to the phrase "BC sucks".

I think the Bombers should get credit for going out and getting their guy. People always blast them for being perceived as behind all the other teams. Everybody else is still looking for an OC and candidates are getting scratched off the list fast. Jackson declined chances to be an OC, Brady looks to be staying put, Edmonton needs to put a whole staff together and Ottawa will need an OC.

There is no OC the Bombers could've grabbed that would've made everyone happy. Maas (who isn't an option because the RedBlacks didn't let us talk to him and the Esks are likely going to hire him as HC) might have gotten the most positive response overall, but he still isn't incredibly proven. Jackson would've had detractors (inexperienced), Khari would've had detractors (not a lot of success in past OC roles), etc.

The fact is, LaPo was being considered for multiple OC positions -- and possibly a HC position -- across the CFL this off-season, and the Bombers got him. The last time he was an Offensive Coordinator, he was a success.

I have cautious optimism heading into the 2016 season with LaPo behind the offensive controls. I think with a healthy Willy and (here's hoping) some aggressive free agent acquisitions, perhaps our offense can match our performance on defense in the second half of 2015 and actually put forth a formidable team effort.

And if not, then we clean house at the end of 2016 and start fresh yet again. Yipee!

This is basically where I am at. I was taught, as a consumer, that my loyalty means nothing. Why bother offering my loyalty when I can just wait it out to get the best deal possible?

I would really like to go back and read the letter that informed me of this $100 discount. I'm curious as to the wording of it, because I found the wording of the letter that was sent to sponsors advertising the same discount to be very interesting. Peculiar use of the words "exclusive discount" inferring that this was the only discount of it's kind available. Maybe they meant "exclusive" as in being the only $100 discount that doesn't require a 3-year commitment on top of it.

Either way - I'm incredibly unimpressed with the way this has been handled by the club. I think they've done a lot of good things lately - I never really have much to complain about, because in the end, it's all about going to the football games and having a good time, but this just reeks of flipping the bird to the most loyal group of customers you have and to me, that stinks.

I do want to edit this post a bit because I feel there is another half of this that needs mentioning - while I don't agree with what the team did, I don't think people should be giving TrueBlue as hard of a time as they are in this thread. What you have to understand is that he did not work for the club while this was all going on and from every interaction I've had with him, both related and unrelated to the club, he's somebody the Bombers are lucky to have working for them and I think we are lucky to have him as a contributor to our community as well. I know there's a lot of accusations of bias or "conflict of interest" going on, but from everything I've seen, there's a fine line that he has done a great job of riding - I think as fans who are largely unaware of the exact processes that these situations are brought about by, we often don't have the full story and he does a great job of trying to provide as much perspective as possible. I still don't agree with a lot of the decisions the WFC made during this entire year of work to make the Grey Cup happen, but I have a better sense of understanding thanks to TrueBlue - and yes, some of the anger we (myself included) have is misguided. I think a lot of people here just need to step back and remember that before he started working for the club, TrueBlue was a contributor to this community for as long as I can remember. 10+ years, I would guess. He deserves a break from all the crap he's had to take from some people here. You don't have to agree with what he's saying, but at least respect that he thinks enough of this community to come and explain it to us.

Well for sure and maybe every 5 years is aggressive.   But should we expect one every 10 years, I would say yes.
That's what a franchise like Calgary expects and has been doing for the past 20 years... again that's the type of franchise I want.

Yeah I would agree with that for sure, Eskimos with Warren Moon won like 5 in 6 years or something so everyone else had a drought during that time.

However I don't think those Grey Cup droughts should equal seasons like we've had the last 10 years.  Sorry to keep using the Stamps example but I don't think everyone expects them to win the cup every few years but they do expect them to be competitive.  I wouldn't call them a dynasty by any means but they're almost always good, and have been for the most part of the last 20 years

I just want some hope and not know that the season is over by week 6 every year
