  1. I guess it depends on what Ladd and his agent are looking for as a free agent and if he likes the team he is traded to and the team has cap money for it, also i have a bad feeling that Chevy might not get what he wants in return and is forced to sign Ladd to an extension. I guess he could get traded then resign here doesn't happen very often but it has happen recently with Arizona last year.
  2. Remember that Ladd would be a pure rental they will not be signing him as a free agent.
  3. It's great for Leaf fans to think that stockpiling picks is great but you have to understand that eventually those picks needs to be signed and you are allowed 50 contracts at on time.
  4. From what i have read Morrissey is progressing quite well with the moose, a guy with his hockey iq will figure it out, i think he's ready for next year, as for Ladd 1st and a prospect is what the Jets are looking for, some teams have already said that they will not be dealing prospects this year, Pittsburgh is one team on record as saying they need to build up there prospect pool. Chicago and Anaheim and Washington's pick will be 25-30 so they would have to add a almost ready NHL prospect.
  5. The only way he gets that from the Jets is if Chevy doesn't get the offers he expects and wants, but yeah keeping him makes us no better a hockey team and may hamper the salary cap in terms of other signings if the cap goes down.
  6. I like that they worked Helle that hard it gave them an idea of what he could do in the NHL with a heavy workload and i think they were very happy with what they saw, moving forward we are set in net, as for core guys most of the roster will be different in 5 years that's why it's really important to get a top 5 five pick this year and maybe next year, players who will hopefully become that cornerstone 's for years to come and be part of a team contending for the cup.
  7. While i agree to a point about Florida and what they have done in the last few years, they have played 21 seasons a been in the playoffs 4 times, personally would rather follow models set up like Chicago, Anaheim , and LA where you have a core of 4-5 players and the rest are moved out and replaced as needed. Moving forward we need to find 4-5 core guys and at the moment looking at our NHL roster i see only 2-3 who could be core guys who will still be here in 5 years.
  8. JMO but when the Jets become contenders Maurice will not be the head coach, Chevy could be long gone to.
  9. First time around was a not all that successful except for Baltimore as TUP said the ratio would be a more of a concern this time around especially with some of the teams that are struggling cant see expansion unless they get rid of the import rule or we just become a minor league feeder system for the NFL, and i don't think any of us wants that.
  10. That's what happens when a owner puts a gun to the county and says give me what i what or i leave and the county says leave. Moving to Brooklyn was a big mistake considering the arena was totally inadequate for the hockey fans. I don't know what the big hangup on size is i would rather have 13-14 k seats full of fans with higher tickets prices than a 19k building 3/4 full at discounted tickets.
  11. Toronto is just god awful and Edmonton has McDavid i don't know how a team can be so bad with that many top end picks, so yeah we won't beat them to the bottom but we don't need to luck of the lottery is all we need.
  12. Pavs back in spades , sad that Beyak thinks it's an a victory that we are out shooting TB. Tampa had a 5 minute stretch of good play and there up by 3, Jets coaches looked defeated going into the locker room.
  13. This team needs a shake up and i don't mean just trading Ladd .
  14. If a GM wants to trade NTC or NMC and the player refuses then that's the fault of the GM .
  15. Again both being released is not a big surprise , Peach was non existent last year and Cottons play until he got injured was so-so.
  16. It's settled then Pinball for Commish
  17. Bettman upholds suspension for Wideman
  18. Cream of the crop free agents will get paid but 2nd tier players might find the money is just not there, i include Ladd as a second tier player. If Ladd wants to remain a Jet he will not make anything close to 6 mil. a year, and he wont see that as a free agent so if he and his family are comfortable here in Winnipeg than making 5 or so mil is still a very good payday.
  19. Remember everyone that a bottom 3 finish does not guarantee a top 3 pick it;'s the luck of the lottery draw that will determine draft order
  20. It's painful to watch but it is really better for the team to finish in the bottom 3 luck of the draw may give us a player that will have a direct impact on this franchise going forward.
  21. Plus contracts are insured he can always go back to college at the end of his career if he really wants or needs to
  22. There is no urgency in the Jets game doesn't look like a team that is fighting to make the playoffs more of a team that is resigned to the fact that they are all ready out of it.
  23. This team goes nowhere with Pavs as it's starting goalie
  24. Have said before Muamba is getting a little long in the tooth to be a special teams player in the NFL, any CFL team that signs him needs that contract to be at least 2 years no sense throwing big money to a guy who thinks he should be in the NFL.
