Signing Ladd to long term contract with big money would be a huge mistake, at the moment his play doesn't warrrant 1st line minutes but in the coming years with a cap friendly contract he would be a very serviceable 3rd liner. Personally I would trade him this team is not built to win this year or even next so why pay guys big money for more of the same results. Big money should go to players that will get you to the playoffs and keep getting you there year after year not one and done.

Coming off the surgery that he had in the off season if his agent was offered the 6x6 contract and refused he should have fired him because he will not get that kind of an offer from the Jets or probably any other team.

While i agree with you on players desire to play in Winnipeg my thoughts on Johanson diiffer and i point out Tyler Sequin as a prime example that has a lot of the attributes that you have associated with Johanson but has turned it around in Dallas. Not saying that the same will happen with him but sometimes things just click at different times of ones life. Anyways as you say we got next to no chance to get him just not the blueprint for this team.

I don't think that Scheifele took a bad penalty on that play i like a player that comes to the defense of a teammate when the ref doesn't make a call he should you can't hit players when you see their numbers against the boards, up to the penalty killers to do there job. Love the way Scheifele is playing this year wouldn't change a thing
