And, when the Esks needed plays to win the game Collins wanted no part of getting hit again and short armed a ton of passes. Totally pussied out because that's how the Bombers play D. Gotta earn your yards the hard way.

Exactly. They gave up over 300 yards passing, but on 54(!) attempts.

It's been Ritchie Halls MO for a long long long time. It's not going to change so we better just get used to it. Bombers D plays a pretty physical game and makes teams generally have to put together long drives to score. That wears an offense down over the course of the game, and on offense the idea is the same. Grind it out, play safe and win by beating the other team down.
Bombers really are the ground and pound style of team rather than the flashy team.

A lot of Bltching and Moaning after a W from some. A W is a W in my books. Especialy against the hottest team in the league right now who came in on a roll and the Blue came in off vacation. I will take that every week. Go Bombers!

First thing first...a sign of a good team is when you still win parts of team playing sub par...which we did...Offence seemed to be out of sync all game save for some great individual plays by some guys. Not very often Harris fumbles and loses the ball twice in a game, let alone twice in a year.
Not sure whats up with Fenner, is it scheme or is it ability but he is better than that, that being said I see why we kept Rios around and not too worried about defense as a whole, they are needing some gel time and the d-line hasn't revved up yet but allowing only what..1 offensive T.D in 2 games against Reilly and Harris while not firing on all cylinders makes you just be giddy thinking of what they will do when they are firing on all cylinders.
Jefferson though no fancy stats yet is a disruptive force and what he does out there, and attention he draws allows others to make plays...also he is seeing a lot of doubles and line play schemed to take him out of making big time plays...but either way it still benefits the defense as a whole.
And as Mike mentioned...it's not about luck making the stops..I'll take a game plan all day allowing a team to move the ball between the 20's but if they can't score TD's thats a win.
Oliviera is done for a while, it was either a bad dislocation or break of his ankle/leg as when he rolled out of the pile up it was twisted and pointing the wrong way..but we are in good shape as we have Augustine chomping at the bit, and I think right now he brings even more anyway, but sucks to lose Oliviera
The o-line I think has basically solidified that they are no longer a concern and are going to be at the worst a very good line, quite possibly one of best..again once they get more games under their belts.
Lucky..what can you say...get ball i his hands and give him a sliver of a seam, or any space at all and he is gonna be a threat to take it to the house at any time, and from anywhere on the field..this games was huge as teams have taken notice now and he is going to have attention on him now which will only open up space for the rest...Also even tough Nichols played a very up and down game, but the offence as whole did too...I'll still take his 3 td vs 1or zero Int and 180 to 230 yard performance when it just keeps accounting for wins

Hate to nitpick but did you ever watch Waggoner play in college? Because people who did (Buono) wanted him even before he was Canadian.
So many people forget this guy was on a negotiation list with the Lions before he ever was confirmed as a non import.

Didn’t we lead the CFL in big plays last year? Lapo isn’t perfect but he’s a damn good coordinator.

With Lapo we don't ever need to worry about the team not testing the perimeters of a defense. If Edmonton wants to try just going balls out after the qb again like they were able to against BC it won't end well for them. I don't think their linebackers are good enough to handle the Lapo short passing offense.

Iirc that would be fumbles lost, doesnt include times he fumbled and we kept possession.

Alls I know is I get nervous when the  all comes to him in a way that doesn't happen with the other receivers. Guy has a lot of skill, but had some adventures with catching and holding onto the ball.

Those are two good depth charts... going to be a fun game to watch
I'm thinking Hall puts Gaitor on Ellingson for the whole game...  should be a good matchup
Want to see Wilson have a big game and Whitehead make key catches...
Hecht will be busy this game
Harris v. Gable is going to be exciting

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on what they are classified as on the depth chart..Lapo moves guys all over, and part of the key to our schemes is all the guys are to know, and have plays made from multiple positions...

Lawler though skill set and body type wise would be redundant as well with Adams..Woli and Matthews..so I guess it's a pick your poison type of situation...I wouldn't want to have Demski relied on for returns if our dedicated returner went down...risk of injury and ball security if you ask me
Whitehead also offers that super unknown right now and a huge threat to defenses...so we need to try and groom that.

I'm no expert... but I'm wondering if dressing Nelson and Whitehead is a little redundant... they bring similar skill sets and whoever is returning kicks could be used as a "gadget" player on offense... that said, if we can get Whitehead in space and utilize his skills... he brings a lot to the table...

Good looking depth chart..Whitehead is the obvious choice right now over Lawler with Matthews back..but we need to involve him and utilze what he can do, or else whats the point of him being in the lineup.
I like the addition of Rios...he looked good and has size and also has been worked at Sam and all the backfield spots, so with him, Fenner, Gaitor and Alexander we have a lot of back field flexibility

I like Lawler too and I hope he gets another opportunity.  But Whitehead just being on the field is going to make the defense move.  Probably a better complement to the rest of our starting receivers, none of which are burners (still fairly fast though).

Trevor Harris is very streaky.  When he is on, he is very good.  We need to keep him out of rhythm.  I am not sure that our pass rush is as good as it should be.  This could be a key game for the final standings or it could be just another 2 points for one of the teams.
I think the Bombers are good and I think the Eskimos are good.  But this early in the schedule, we really don't know who anybody is.

Not to mention Jeff coat mugged a few times. Hall's defence, (like most) is predicated on pressuring the QB... D-linemen getting mugged with no flags, makes it very hard to bring pressure. The refs were calling an inconsistent game and we were on the short end of the stick more often than not.

I would suggest rewatching the game against BC. An uncharacteristic kick return td and some iffy pass interference penalties made it seem closer than it really was.
