  1. Montreal might be the only team in the the East that's in need and is also short-sighted enough to think that a quarterback would solve all their problems and heavily overpay for Frankllin via trade. Toronto already has Willy (I guess?), Ottawa still seems okay with their Burris/Harris combination and Hamilton has Collaros... I don't really know what Montreal would really be able to offer Edmonton though, other than draft picks and potential future prospects. They released Carter and Stafford, their defense has some good players, but I think it'd be a tough sell to trade some defensive players for a QB - which is the most important position in the league.
  2. People need to remember that the only reason we even have Nichols, is because he basically lost his job as backup to Franklin. Of course Edmonton realizes Franklin's potential, and I agree with others here that it's a waste to let him sit on their depth chart as a backup... that said, if you were Edmonton...wouldn't you rather have Franklin sit behind Reilly as your backup, instead of him potentially burning as a starter playing elsewhere in the league? I think he'd be a great fit in Winnipeg - but I don't think we should sell the farm to get him, and I don't think Edmonton would let him go for a seventh-round pick in the draft (which is what we traded to get Nichols).
  3. I'm glad to see Kohlert get the hook... twice there were throws to him where Nichols hit him square in the numbers only to have the ball pop up for an INT... just can't turn the ball over like that, especially in the playoffs.
  4. I agree... but you've got to give Barker some credit for taking a risk and trying to go for it all, remember they host the Grey Cup this year and at the time the Willy trade happened, Ray was injured and the Argonauts were still very much so in the East Division playoff picture. I wonder how much of this trade was Milonovich singing Willy's praise and how much was the Argos needing to shake things up. As it stands right now though, it looks like it was a terrible move for the Argos - especially considering the Bombers were likely going to release Willy this off-season if they hadn't traded him.
  5. Add on top of that, it's well into November at that point - the weather could also play a factor as well. I think based on our D that might actually be an additional benefit to the Bombers. That said, B.C. first, whether it be at home or away.
  6. I'd buy $60 scotch and be drunk all the time too if I had a diastema that large. Seriously, considering how much $$$ the guy makes why wouldn't he fix that.
  7. Agreed, they stunk it up today. As others have mentioned, hopefully it was just an off game for Nichols and the O. I'd still say if I had to choose to play 2 road games to get to the Grey Cup I'd rather play Ottawa/Hamilton than B.C./Edmonton and Calgary. Hopefully today was just rust...alot of rust.
  8. So in terms of the playoff shakedown, with B.C. and Edmonton winning this week coupled with this loss, our only hope of hosting the Western semi-final is if we win next week in Ottawa whilst both Edmonton (playing Toronto) AND B.C. (playing Saskatchewan) lose at home. Does anyone else feel it might be better to actually go through the East via cross-over? Playing away against Hamilton or Ottawa sounds better than taking on Edmonton or B.C....
  9. ^This^ A Rider win at home against the B.C. Lions would also help the Bombers secure a potential home playoff game. I don't often cheer for the Riders, but when I do, it's when they're out of the playoffs, in a meaningless game for them, with their winning improving the Bombers standings whilst simultaneously worsening their own draft standing (and improving ours).
  10. Based on this logic, I would argue he's taken enough games off while injured that he should be good for 5 games... 2 against the BlackReds and 3 in the playoffs?
  11. ...You know the forum is called "Morning Big Blue" right? Not "Morning-those-guys-that-left-for-the-desert-then-came-back-trust-us-they're-really-awesome-oh-and-enjoy-some-of-the-highest-ticket-prices-in-league"
  12. I'm okay with the Bombers being considered the underdog, extra motivation. I hope we do end up finishing second in the West with B.C. finishing 3rd, that would be a fantastic home game to attend.
  13. If football was a one-person sport (like golf) Carter would be the best there is...or at least he'd tell you all about how he's the best there is.
  14. This isn't the first time Harris' trying to grind for an extra few yards has almost cost us the game, he did exactly the same thing near the end of the Labour Day Classic, he almost cost us the chance to kick the game-winning field goal by accidentally running out the clock...
  15. Anyone else appalled at the fact Ottawa currently sits atop the East, with a losing record?
  16. Logically, this game had absolutely no bearing on the 'Riders playoff chances - whether we won, or B.C. won wouldn't help or hinder their chances. So it's only a conspiracy if you can't do math, which is plausible for them.
  17. I know the refs are supposed to be impartial to the influence of fans during a game, but this non-call reminds me of the Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills "forward-lateral" in the NFL a few years ago, it's often referred to as the Music City Miracle. It's kind of one of those calls where it is "well... it could go either way ... maybe I'll just let the call stand (and the home team win) because I'm going to start a riot otherwise..." Seriously, could you imagine what would've happened if that call was overturned, in Tennessee or yesterday for the Bombers?
  18. Don't forget Dressler had that fake FG run in the first quarter. Agree with your calls other than that. Also I might be wrong, but I think the trick play was actually a double-reverse (harris to kohlert) who then tossed it to Nichols.
  19. Not to mention drug dealers a double whammy, not only are their drugs unregulated and likely unsafe, by being part of the underground economy, they dodge reporting lots taxable income. The government misses out on the tax revenue from being the dealer (think tobacco, for every $10 you spend on cigarettes , $5 is tobacco tax that goes straight to government coffers). They also lose out on the tax revenue not collected from illegal, unreported drug-peddling activities.
  20. It'd be incredibly ironic if the substance he abused was speed..
  21. Whenever I get a jersey stitched, I always make sure it's a retired Bomber that won at least one Grey Cup. It forces me to step back, take a minute and read up on a player that did something great for this team in years past. I also do this because that way I don't end up with the awkward situation with my first jersey from 2011 in which I had an Odell Willis jersey, who after their GC loss, the Bombers released and then he was picked up by the Riders... Had it re-stitched as a Ken Ploen jersey.
  22. If I was Darvin Adams this signing would have me shaking in my boots.
  23. Agreed, but if I had to choose, I'd take Harris every day of the week.
