  1. Winnipeg has the second best record in the cfl in terms of wins and losses since Lapo came here and led the cfl in offensive points and offensive touchdowns this season. In the passing game he just doesn’t have the talent on the field. His qb was behind James Franklin on Edmonton’s depth chart when we traded a box of tape to get him. Dressler wasn’t wanted anywhere else and none of our other receivers did much anywhere else before we picked them up off life support. Its not my intention to defend Lapo it’s just that in the face of a massive over reaction I have to respond. At at this point it’s the players. We all wanted Richie Hall fired last year and then he was given the talent he needed and the defence thrived. LaPolice was given scraps from other teams and a total of 3 skilled import spots on the roster to work with and led the league in touchdowns and points scored. They need to improve but that won’t happen until they give him the talent other teams have. Like I’ve said I don’t see him as a head coach so bringing up failures in that regard don’t register with me.
  2. The first year that I have memories from was 1990... it’s been all downhill since then.
  3. I’d take that over relying on our scouting department to find a gem. This is of coarse only if we don’t sign Bighill.
  4. If Bighill signs in BC we gotta go hard after Elimimian.
  5. Let’s pay him enough to move his family to Winnipeg!
  6. The depth on this offensive line is great. With Chung, Goosen and Couture still free agents I bet we already have enough under contract to have a respectable offensive line. Hardrick, Bryant, Gray, Neufeld, Speller at center. Montreal would take that.
  7. Teams generally go down hill after he leaves. He’s the best offensive coordinator we’ve had since firing Paul LaPolice who was the best offensive co-ordinator we had since the previous time we fired him.
  8. So your issue was that I thought he wasn’t worth 400k?
  9. Please delete
  10. Glad I burnt that game from my memory. Lapo to me is an offensive co-ordinator and should never be a head coach again. He needs to be singularly focused or his offense will suffer. But man did the team go down hill after he was fired.
  11. The Dinwiddie game?
  12. What happened to the offences Lapo coached after he was fired? Did they go up or down?
  13. We started playing not to lose after losing 4 games in a row off of stupid turnovers. I’m not happy either with the game plan in the Calgary game. You had to go aggressive like the Eagles vs Patriots. I just think that Lapo overall has got a lot out of the talent he’s been given. Nichols was the third string qb in Edmonton when we picked him up. Our receiving core is filled with castoffs or guys that weren’t doing a whole lot before they signed here like Demski and Adams. He’s done a good job overall on maximizing the points this collection of castoffs can produce.
  14. Yeah because if you were in charge you would be able to force Mike Reilly to sign in Winnipeg. As much as we need better quarterbacking it’s not realistic to think a better qb will be available to Winnipeg.
  15. Lapo is not the problem. We just need better receivers. I wouldn't be apposed to replacing Nichols with Jennings as well.. At least he's got some mobility and would be cheaper while we wait for Streveler to be ready.
  16. Locking up Medlock is important. He's worth the money. With all the poor kicking in the NFL right now and Brett Maher (an average CFL kicker) working out with the Cowboys I think you're going to see a trend of CFL kickers going south of the line. Kickers are going to be hard to come by when a Long and possibly others exiting the league. Let's lock of Medlock and not take chances with that position. There are plenty of other areas where we can save money. Leggett, Wild, Okpalaugo, Nevis, Fenner, Nichols pay cut all come to mind before I would miss with our kicking.
  17. So much for going with 4 Canadian starters next season.
  18. I didn’t realize. Hope he recovers from it.
  19. We need to go hard after Kamar Jordan or Devaris Daniels. And also pick up another up and comer with experience. Like a Begalton or such. One receiver isn’t going to do it and you need to have depth.
  20. Honestly though... defence was not the issue. Winnipeg’s major area of concern is with the passing game. Try and maintain what we had elsewhere and improve the passing game and we will be fine. I don’t see us getting our hands on a better combo than we already have so we need to focus heavily on upgrading our receiving core.
  21. I would imagine there will be plenty of receivers on the market this offseason. Calgary has recently signed Chris Matthews and Markeeth Ambles has really come into his own. I haven't seen Calgary's free agent list but no doubt they are going to have to let a couple receivers go. We just need one of them.
  22. That's gonna help.. But we need an elite import slotback as well..
  23. I would imagine that if Loffler leaves town that we might change our ratio. We could look at starting a Canadian on the defensive line instead. Depends I guess on what we pick up with our 3rd and 6th overall picks.
  24. In regards to Weston Dressler and Moe Leggett. It’s just that father time is undefeated.
  25. I’m not convinced Lapo gets a head coaching gig. I think Claybrooks goes to Toronto and Ed Hervey has a history of hiring first time head coaches.
