I don't want to base anything on one game especially one where Streveler did underthow a ball to wheatfall which should have been a touchdown. But Streveler has given my some hope that he can be perhaps a stopgap starter for us when Zach retires. Or perhaps veteran insurance if Elgersma is a bust.

Imagine if he develops his passing game this year and by next season he's got most of his speed back and can learn just to use it to get out of trouble and in crucial situations.

Despite all the offseason losses of star players Ive had the feeling for a long time now that we were going to be a better team this year from last. We have a lot more depth than we had last season. Last year there were very few second year guys who who really in a position to help the team if memory serves me correctly and as a result we had to go with a lot of first year players. 2nd year players are the best value you can get as a CFL team. Rookie salary in an experienced player. We have made up some of our biggest losses by changing the ratio and the early returns are stellar. I'm no longer worried about losing Ford's turnover creating ability at short side corner. Bridges already has two picks and he's doing this on a rookie contract. I also think that left guard we have is a massive upgrade of Dobsen and again on a rookie salary. Wheatfall is on a rookie deal too and will quite likely produce more yards than Lawler did last year or the year before. Vaval to me looks like legit returner I wonder what if any role Logan will have when healthy. They can just keep him on the injury list reducing our cap hit and wait until we need him. Streveler looks like a legit backup qb. I just love how the new OC let him run the offence and he played against his old OC who never let him do that and beat him throwing touchdown passes while the highest paid primadona qb in the league couldn't get it done vs us under Buck's tutelage. Clearly Streveler is not himself yet with that brace and that made it a necessity for him to run the offence. I really wonder if the plan for him this season is to focus on knowing how to run the offence and to be backup. Just speculation but I think maybe they won't want him as the short yardage qb pushing off on that leg. The real question I have is if BO is out next week where does that leave our ratio? Peterson made a strong case to leave the ratio as it is. I hope we find a way to get Cooley on the roster and use a combination of the tight end set to get him on the field replacing Sterns with a canadian tight end and also use the designated american rule to give him a bunch of additional snaps and use a two back system. Thoughts?

Has anyone gotten over Depth Chart shock and excited for the game? I'm experiencing depth chart fatigue. Not happy about it but it is what is it.

The talent around Rourke was much better back in those days. Im Expecting a season from him somewhere between 2022 and 2024.

Its a no brainer for me that he would be on the roster. We struggled with a lack of depth on the Dline all of last year and as a global he's basically bonus depth in that area.

Correct me if im wrong but I thought he looked decent in the pre-season game in Sask.

I think what happened is that they decided to focus Dillon Mitchell on the return duty when Logan went down. They like having their returner focus on that duty and then chip in in other areas. Might explain why he wasn’t given a serious look at being a starting receiver.

Aren't we able to play an American over Lawson and crew for 49% of the snaps with Willie Jefferson qualifying as a Nationalized American?

The thing we don't know is which players were offered PR spots and turned them down. As it stands right now it looks like we are in fact going with 3 americans on the offensive line to start the season.

Last camp Wheatfall and Wilson combined for 13 yards receiving on 9 targets. They don't always have to fly off the page like Schoen did his rookie year in order to be worth developing. But i'm not going to complain too much about the receivers we've kept around. Im very please with how Wheatfall looks and in all honesty we could have an embarrassment of riches in a month or two when Wilson is back. The knock on Sterns is that he seems to do everything right but he doesn't seem to come up with catches that go anywhere beyond base level difficulty.

I’m glad Myron was cut for no other reason than it prevents confusion. I imagine Dillon Mitchell gets a reprieve because of the injury to Logan. They’re probably gonna opt for Mitchell on returns until Logan is healthy.

So who’s our other corner after Bonds? The logic might be that you move on from a couple at a time rather than all at once. But with the young linebackers we have it seems annoying to keep Wilson around.

Why would we PR that British DE? We had 2 globals we protected ahead of him?

Might have an element of surprise factor in our favor vs bc. Nobody knows Buck as well as us and we can watch their first game and see how different his system is compared to what he ran here. And we won’t be playing so our offence will be a bit of a surprise factor. Could help somewhat to offset the fact that it will be our first full game and missing Zach.
