They didn't let him walk. He was going to be a free agent and had made it clear he wasn't going to re-sign because he wanted to be a starter. Sorry but that "they let him walk" stuff is a pet peeve because we all know you can't force someone to sign and some players will leave no matter what you offer them.
Hopefully the people who were spewing the "he was our third choice" crap will shut up and just be thankful we have him locked up for a while.

One thing worth mentioning: Both Adams and Washington's INTs were outstanding grabs. Those weren't gimme balls thrown right at them, by any stretch. Extremely impressive....

Sorry Rod, missed these questions.  Didn't know Jack but I only worked there a couple of summers and yes it was at the old St. Boniface location.  Half the Murphy kids had jobs at CP because the GM lived across the street from them in River Heights.  One of the company nurses was Cal's wife.

Chalet?  Oh yea, well before it lost it's soul and became Teasers.

Didn't want to say this outright, especially not here, but you are one piece of work. I seriously thought you came to riderfans to troll, but it seems this is your schtick to bash other members (especially veteran members) everywhere you go. Sad to see. You really should calm down. It's only a game afterall.

And voodochylde is right about SPUDs. By fickle, he means how quickly the fans attack the team. It's the exactly the same with the Riders. After loses on rf, the fans are out with their pitchforks waving them at the coaching, management, defence, etc. It has nothing to do with butts in seats at the games.

What context is needed? You're a one note poster saying the same stuff every time there's a loss then you bugger off when the team wins and don't say anything.

It's not about being a better fan it's about being a more rational human being. I mean if you want to fly off the handle over a loss then go nuts but don't expect to be taken seriously when you do it.

Those people are so drunk it's insane. Man its embarrassing to listen to post game shows. People rant and rave and say nothing but slurred words and garbage. You know what they do after they hang up? Pass out on the floor in their own vomit

Oh come on.  I don't think he's a great QB either, but saying he's coming off as a d-bag in that interview is pretty harsh.  I mean really, if you were in his position you'd be saying whatever you need to say to keep yourself playing too.  Everyone wants to play and wants a paycheck, no one is going to come out and say "oh hey, I suck at being a QB, they should put in the other guy instead".

I agree.  I never want coaches to bring in people they are comfortable working with.  Once they learn each other's wives names, it's time to move on.

And yet they did back it up .. that defense single-handedly won games for this team.  That defense single handedly kept us in games when TOP was heavily in the opposition's favour .. when our offense went 2 and out time and time again.   . Comparing those guys to West .. Battle .. Jones (in terms of how they carried themselves) is comparing apples to oranges .. it was a different era of football .. but those guys also played with attitude .. and swagger.

I have slowly come to realize that a great many people who disliked (resented?) "Swaggerville"  are simply upset about how the team (the whole organization for that matter) simply imploded.  These individuals are using a very visible, vocal part of those teams as a focal point for their disappointment.   Others simply have an 'old school mindset' and cannot (will not?) recognize the changing times.  I for one will never begrudge those guys their celebrations and antics when they were often on the field for 2/3 a game.

As you say .. to each their own.

Walby described football as a CBC analyst the way any good former offensive lineman would. With a chicken wing in his left hand & a bottle of beer in his right. He was having fun.

My favorite football announcer of all time has to be Don Wittman. Loved his tone and passion. Plus, he was a Winnipeg guy, wasn't he? And yes, Cole is past his prime, but I still love hearing him.

Actually, I've seen lots of games in McMahon.  I used to have season tickets and Red and White club spots. There were games where Calgary scored so many TD's that I thought we were trying to kill the horse.  Sure, we played better, but we still lost so the demons still very much alive.

You play 18 games so far nobody has won all 18. It's a long season going to be ebbs and flows all year.

Bombers are a better team than last year and it looks like they can compete with anyone. The D keeps improving, still some rust to shake off in a few areas and Hurl needs to be replaced at MLB. I'm still very optimistic for this season.

I don't know if Walters and O'Shea are the "right guys" but I do know that Mack/Lapo got to a Grey Cup and Berry/Taman got to a Grey Cup and these guys seem to be better at their respective jobs than those guys ever were.... In my opinion, of course.
There is a lot of parity in the league right now. If the Bombers get hot at the right time, they could win it all. Why not? I don't know why so many people stand out on the ledge after a loss. It's one game, we're .500. We almost stole one in Calgary... By which I mean, any win in Calgary has to be considered a steal for the Bombers with their history there. I've been a lot more worried about the team than I am right now... They look ok to me.

I know people are pretty peeved at this loss. Some positives though.
-We had a 16-0 lead over the Grey Cup champs before a terrible fumble turned the game around
-Defense came to play. There was some good coverage out there
-Offence has shown to be pretty consistent
-The catch and run by Addison Richards. Showed his speed, hands and a little bit of power taking the Stampeder defender out.
    -Darvin Adams coming out party
