Your memories and recall might not make the best scouting report.

I get the frustration but the signing bonuses are a sunk cost no matter who plays now. Mitchell got 63K upfront, 148K overall, so $85K for the season, ~$4.7K per game JJones got 15K upfront, 120.5K overall, so $105K for the season, ~$5.8K per game. It's game 1, so $10.5K to sit. *numbers from 3downnation so who knows if accurate Sorry. I'm an accountant. FWIW I really want to see JJones play and would prefer him on the roster. Hope he gets in soon. Mitchell it sucks to burn the bonus money but whichever of the 3 vet receivers brought in showed the most in camp gets to play. Overall much better depth position than last year at receiver and LB.

The thing is ... Virtually everyone in here is in agreement about how the roster is being deployed. If you're the only person saying "this is fine..." then maybe it's you...?

Coaches coach better same thing happens. Before last year, we played it pretty close down to the wire and came up short. Coaching would've made a bigger difference in those years. Last year was such a mess of poor play and coaching, but we should've been able to beat up on a team QBd by arbuckle. -
Yes, yes they are.

veteran insurance is nice...when that insurance is capable....and you dont need an overload of it either...you need the new breed to work through games and get experience and confidence You get none of that in practice....it's rare to show anything and running drills in skelly aint gonna replicate what a guy can...or cant do under live fire
-
of those stats tho....Mitchell and White Jr have made impact plays...garner attention...Sterns?....I recall zero impact he has ever made other than pedestrian plays...I do recall a lot of drops...shying away from traffic to not make a catch....
-
I'm assuming it is because they are starting "veteran insurance" and not giving guys who are already at the same level or higher a chance to shine.
-
WELL...we chose not to dress any actual back-ups...we had several on PR....so is that a lack of depth...or a lack of roster judgement?? Same with this yr...we have a guy on the PR....with experience....who can play ST...but we choose to roster a raw rookie who to be honest.....has the least skillset of any receiver we have kept.....while we rostered 17 LB'S/DB's....
-
Bailey for Kornelson would give an extra pass rusher which makes sense since we have 2 30+ DEs. Cobb for say Novak would mean we have 2 back up receivers which seems prudent. But what do I know, I'm just a fan on a message board. I should just shut up and listen to The Leader.
-
FWIW....Sterns, Mitchell and White are all within about 3 yards per game average in their CFL careers. So fair to say nearly exact same level of production in 23, 32 (White) and 45 CFL games. IMO keep/roster the guy the QB's want/mesh with and who fits the offense....which we haven't seen yet with Hogan scheming and calling the plays.

Tyson Philpot

This is a big improvement on WR depth from last year where WR injuries meant that Streveler was out there playing WR

I’m on a football discussion forum discussing football and you’re on a football discussion forum discussing how people choose to discuss football. Who do you think is the problem here?
-
Right on cue right dude.

Why not both?

thats what happens when you have a coach who lays his fav's...tho Mitchell never earned anything yet....buy even so I bet if on roster he would offer more than Sterns,,,,,and why not give him a few games to work it out...we wasted about 6 or 7 on the other Mitchell and Johnson last yr... 2 yrs in Sask it never materialized....this camp showed more the same.....but lets roster hi anyway and jettison some prospects and Park Mitchell and White who both have had success in league...makes sense to me
-
Can’t wait to argue about an actual game with you lot instead of hypothetical rosters!

because uts not the best roster we could have rolled out,,,thts why

thing id...he doesnt help either....he's ittelevant....AND...we did not need a national taking premium reps there at all to meet ratio....no readon at all last 2 yrs he got reps he did...its just an Osh choice,,,We could have the last 2 seasons been developing a guy there beside just Lawson who would prob be a significant player now...same with WIL....Same with MLB....Tho we have J.Jones but Osh being Osh wont roster him over a journryman guy who is average at best...soley cause he been here already by my guess...that or another mancriush -

Players play better we win the last 3 Grey Cups. Who we rostered in those games, with the exception of 2023 GC, to some extent, was not the reason we lost those games. In each and everyone of our last 3 Grey Cups we are 3-4 bad plays and a QB injury away from winning all of them. I guess my point is that if anyone thinks that the decision to keep Fatboi on the roster makes much of a difference in the grand scheme than they are letting the players off the hook if we lose. In limited reps he does not hurt us at all. Last year he got thrown into the fray due to injuries to others and it is unfair to paint that as a coaching error. It's like saying MOS is stupid for starting Strev this week over Zac because Zac is better. The better players is not available. If Lawson is healthy last year we aren't even talking about JT right now. -
Yep, bunch of soft lollipop suckers.

I’ll never understand these type of posts. The majority of us are just shooting the **** offering up a variety of opinions on the great, the good and the bad of certain aspects of the BB. Its where we come to escape and play gm/coach/consultant. And my opinion with lots of in-depth analysis behind it is BC sucks.
