  2. If you watch Perkins in the UFL the offense is basically zone read or a fire drill every snap (there's tons of UFL stuff on YouTube, you can basically find every snap he took). I don't think he'll be able to do much from the pocket in the CFL. The ball doesn't move quick and he never sets his feet so the ball doesn't get anywhere on time or accurate. He's a fadeaway passer, lobs the ball. He is a complete run/scramble style QB. So he's not going to be able to function in an offense anything like the base offense we will be running around a guy like Collaros. But you could build something around him as a backup that relies on Zone Read, either hand it off, run it or chuck it up hope someone runs under it. The intermediate pass game will not exist for him at this level.
  3. I mean, even pre-season and tc I didn't see a click moment from him. The offence was awful last year and not a lot better last year. We could really use a QB coach in camp. I hate that we don't have one. Bring in a guy like Masoli as a player-coach to sit on the IR, itd make a big difference. I'm not sold that he has poise; instead of just lacks pocket awareness. He has tons of arm talent, but man, his window is really small now. He also had 2 years in the USFL before coming here. As a qb you really have to show something after that many pro camps. (1 nfl with the cowboys, 2 usfl, 2 cfl) He had 1 good year in juco, and kicked around 3 solid programs before/after with out significant success. Basically, a pretty good HS kid, with 1 good juco year, and a lot of bouncing. That type of history, especially in a higher 3-star prospect in both juco and HS, should rise quickly. And he just hasn't. I'm good with Wilson being in camp, but he should be on thin ice. He needs to take a step forward and act fast to earn a spot. I like Perkins upside too, with him it'll all come down to how quickly he adapts to the Canadian game. He's pretty late in life for a QB coming up here. Thorne is a solid prospect, too. If the ball gets out of his hand quickly enough against pros, he could have some success. It's a bad position to be in, no back up qb with any level of productivity in the CFL. The QB market is ugly, and our QB room is one of the most challenged in the league. I thought both extended in montreal? Maybe I'm crazy. Wouldn't be the first time we took an easy recirculation type guy.
  4. I'm talking strictly TC. In season reps is hard to count on. If they're always in close games, you're not going to put a back up in. Hindsight is 20/20 but nothing can be done about that now. Bringing in MBT or any other cast off, will only hurt the guys who are going to camp.

  6. That's pretty much how I expect it to go down as well - ZC, Perkins, Wilson with Artopoeus or Thorne on the PR. Might get interesting if Elgersma does show up at some point though - would they stick him on the PR where he could be poached or would he bump Perkins or Wilson from the AR?
  7. Evans and Patterson are both pending FA's and AFIK have not agreed to terms anywhere yet. They were listed at #5 & 12 on 3DN's top FA QB's so either one could be had if there was interest on our part. Don't see them bringing back Patterson though since he didn't even make it out of camp with us last year. 2026 CFL free agent rankings: quarterbacks - 3DownNation
  8. well apparently they saw some the errors of their ways....or so we were sold, so hopefully thats one of them....cause it crippled us for several yrs running If I was a betting man I'd say we break camp with ZC...Perkins and Wilson as he is the only guy with any relevant experience.....for that "just in case moment" but how they use the 2 others will be interesting. I think Perkins will be the actual backup and a guy we build some packages around to get him nicely integrated, and Wilson stays as the short yardage guy for most part
  9. They would have been better off giving guys like Wilson some reps a season or 2 ago but that's not the MOS way & I don't see that changing now.
  10. dont think Wilson tho really been giving a chance....he showe something in yr one...has poise and presence...best arm....but last yr with Dinglenuts as OC was a waste and everyone actually regressed...Make or break for Wilson tho this yr...and I actually think Perkins is gonna look impressive....so if Wilson doesnt shoot the lights out and look legit, he likely gone Elgersma is a project and really shouldn't be counted on anything but that this yr...or even next if he signs....He is a CIS trained QB who had some success in college against 85 percent of players who were glorified high school stars finishing off their football lives, and a big part of his success.....and hasnt played meaningful football going on 2 yrs now....No CIS QB is gonna be a factor early on in career...if ever. People like to push it...TSN especially and when has it happened....Just look to recent with FORD....Uber athletic, all the things you want in a pro.....Except abilty to make it work in the pros...looked good against Canadian College kids.....but in pro's a different ball game Elgersma sure has a better arm....even still tho....doesnt compute to immediate success and to expect it right outta the gate....is just asking to flop
  11. Pointless picking any of the remaining scraps up...serves zero purpose really and we need to just go with our guys and like mentioned by other's...give whoever comes out as number 2 actual playtime during the yr when we can....and just doesnt have to be in a blow out, or an end of game pointless reps Be it Wilson...(does he step up) as he has the best arm in camp, though have yet to see Perkins up close...Or Perkins who I may think actually impresses and isnt the typical kinda first yr i the pro's guy we usually bring in....Looking forward to the battle with him and Wilson...The greek kid gives me no sense of him being anything, and likley cut, and the other nice intriguing rookies we signed are just that....future prospects and a big nothing burger for this yr Where we failed in past...and not just at QB is giving backups and guys with potential no meaningful reps ...ever....that has to change
  12. Today
  13. It wasn’t that long ago that he was iffy about even playing, due to his wife’s lucrative job. Surprised he hasn’t hung it up.
  14. Terry Wilson, at this point, is no further along than any rando 1 year guy, or most rookies out of camp imo. 2 TCs and he hasn't shown progress after just having turned 28. I think if you bring Wilson into camp, he has to have a short leash. He'd really need to win reps in the first preseason game. QB is the one position we will go into camp worse off at. Zach is a year older, Strev is toast, no one else has progressed behind him, as we never successfully replaced Brown as a back up qb. Even if Elgersma signs, I think he's a year away from being more than a qb3 at least. Perkins has a mountain of work to do adjusting to the CFL game. Maybe Perkins catches on fast, or Elgersma catches lightning in a bottle, or some other miracle befalls one of the other QBs, but that would be in camp. Till then, we have a huge ? mark. I think our backup plan is going to be Montreal. Davis is their guy, and I think they like Morgan a lot. Which leaves one of Evans and Patterson on the outside looking in. One of them gets cut, or maybe we work a trade if camp goes poorly. After that, it's the likes of what remains of MBT/Masoli, or even worse, the pest. If Zach gets hurt in camp/pre-season, we are beyond screwed. More than 2 and out check downs too.
  15. Most of these guys will be available just before TC in reality. We can spend the next couple months seeing if Elgersma shakes loose and if so evlauating him and the other rookies/backups out in our rookie camps etc, if we decide that we need an experienced back up at that point sign one of the experienced guys. Really no need to do so right now. If there was one, for instance, like Powell who jumps off the page compared to the others then I would think differently. However, at this point the top 3-4 of what`s left are both unlikely to catch on somewhere and are all of similar ability.
  16. That's what I mean though. Bringing him in now will further hurt our young guys. If Collaros goes down for an extended time and Wilson + whoever else they keep look incompetent, then sure go get MBT. I just don't see how it benefits the team to bring him in now
  17. Ah thanks. Yeah it's a pita to keep track of availability from the tampering window on for a bit. Good pick up for them. I do agree, we won't be doing much for a while. I think we might dive back into the frey if things stretch out with the guys who are left. The only real advantage to publically saying we are out of FA, like walters basically did, is pushing a final deal or two imo. Really dont want him at this point. The QB class is extremely bad for experienced guys, but he's low on the short list of bad options. I don't expect us to make a satisfactory move at qb tbh.
  18. Veteran insurance. It would be nice if for this season they can give our back ups some real reps throughout the season. Many times over the last several seasons we could have given Wilson or McGuire before him some real reps.
  19. Game felt a lot like our 2019 GC win. Darnold scrambling like a young Zach. Defense was huge. Offense did just enough and the kicker made a ton of FGs. Half Time show was spectacular. It was like a mini musical or an opera. BBs music is not for me, but I really appreciated what they were going for... And Gaga and Ricky Martin were fab as always.
  20. Seahawks D clamped down hard. Was fun to watch being the nerdy D fan that I am. Was hoping for a shutout to make history. Seahawks feel like a great team us CFL fans could adopt as our own. Love their shout out to our 12 approach with their fans.
  21. I don't really see the purpose of bringing MBT in right now...If Collaros goes down for a significant amount of time and the guys behind him flounder, then sure get a vet who has shown he can be competent. But right now they'd be better off giving as many reps as possible to the young guys they have.
  22. A chance for the wealthy to come out & say "Yay sports"? It's all about the money. With one burger going for $180 USD (about $245 CAD), it's a prime example of how the game is not for the average person. The Most Expensive Item on the Super Bowl LX Menu Is an Absolute Monstrosity
  23. He was also pretty beat up last year and was dealing with an arm issue (elbow and/or should iirc). Wasn't really given a chance to heal properly or play at 100% because Davis kept getting hurt and so did Caleb Evans.
  24. This is true. But what is a Superbowl?
  25. MBT: Might set a historically bad precedence Throws a nice looking ball...to a linebacker. Is the only decent guy available
  26. Defense wins championships. Offense sells tickets.
