2026 Bombers Season
Anyway, I can see whgere this conversation is going. I'm being pidgeon holed by some here & every time I give an answer the hole is getting smaller. So, any of you who think my opinion is invalid or romantic, I'm done debating. I have my beliefs & you have yours.

Dunigan had injury problems the longer his career went on. Not at the beginning. Mostly concussions.

If it's such a bad thing to be the 4th or 5th qb then why even come to training camp? You say it's a waste of time so no big deal if they leave. Well, I don't buy what your selling. There are guys who would play on a broken leg if they could. Or never would consider quitting even if they were behind the 8 ball. Yes, it's a business you get paid to win. However, giving up on yourself is also a business decision. They made it. Good luck to them.

We are talking about the 4th and 5th QB on the depth chart who are (or were I guess) current making less than you could be making on EI right? It's nice to have a romantic view of a team and comradery but at the end of the day it's a business. No one really knows what's being said inside the locker room. You hope that guys are being accurately appraised of their situation. I don't think you can begrudge these guys from seeing the writing on the wall and deciding to go home.

I sincerely believe he's 1a/1b with Rourke for beat QB in the league..... When healthy. But man that guy is like Dunigan... No luck at all- 2026 Bombers Season
No, I don't. Getting cut is one thing. But walking away from your teammates? How is that leadership or character at the position that requires the most of both? To me, it's the ultimate in selfishness. Things get tough & you quit? Wilson probably felt that he didn't get a fair shake & maybe he didn't. Well then, the only one who can change that perception of Wilson is Wilson himself. Work harder. Study harder. Be the most prepared. Leave everything on the table. No stone unturned. Be the smartest qb in meetings. If he still gets cut ast least then he can say he gave it his all & it just wasn't meant to be. If it's not a mental thing then it's physical. From all the stories I read here of fans watching Wilson practice he didn't do that. His passing was missing the mark. For a third year pro, he should be stepping up & not taking a step back. In Thorne's situation, he probably was overwhelmed & decided to get out. I can imagine players like Brock, Dunigan, Clements, etc all felt that at some point but put their head down & powered thru it. Okay, Thorne's not the first rookie to quit. It happens. If he came back & O'Shea agreed to take him back then I'd be okay with that. Being a rookie he deserves a second chance if he wants it in the future. I can say this about my son Tyler since you brought him up. He never quit any team that he played for. He went thru 3 head coaches, 3 OC's, 3 playbooks, three different sets of terminology & 3 QB Coaches in the three seasons he played at SFU. Some very talented players transferred out. They couldn't recruit during the 3 years he played at SFU because they'd take 3-4 months to hire an new HC so the team couldn't commit to players. And beside, who would sign with SFU when they didn't know who the head coach was going to be? So, recruitment was absolutely dead. This just made the team worse every season he was there. Tyler could have went into the transfer portal every year but each time he said no. He felt he owed it to his "brothers" to stay & not run out on them. So he didn't leave. All his loyalty did was to continue playing football for the worst NCAA program anywhere. His final season under Head Coach Kelly Bates was the worst. They didn't win a game. Bates never played 4 down football. He was never a head coach before. Bates was so far in over his head he was 200 feet underwater & sinking fast yet his huge ego was the problem. He thought he knew all the answers to none of the questions & coached like it. He treated Tyler like ****. Took away his captaincy. Made him the third string qb. All because Tyler came into his office after he was hired to talk about some of the grievances the players had with all the changes every year. The players hated Bates because he treated most of the veterans he never recruited like dirt. Dude went 0-39 as a head coach before the AD put him out of his misery but the damege was done. The players had long stopped playing for him. The football program was cooked. The administration's one goal was to kill the football program & the hiring of Bates sure did it. They hired a couple of head coaches after Bates but only won 2 or 3 more football games after that. All of BC's best football players went to UBC instead. The football team was discontinued. Some of these guys at the pro level think they're so hard done by really aren't.- The TV Thread

The way you talk about players is so weird, especially for a guy who has been fairly open about how they don’t think their son got a fair shot during their collegiate career. You don’t think these men exhibit character or leadership? Why? Because they appear to have made a personal choice based on how they want to run their life? I don’t understand why you choose to continually project your wants and desires as a fan of a sports franchise onto these guys who are literally just quitting a job. That’s all it is for them. This doesn’t have to be “they don’t have the character to persevere through a rough patch”, this literally could (and likely is) as simple as “they don’t wanna get paid a low salary to be far away from their families when they could earn equivalent or better back home” (PS not too torn up Wilson left, I think he was option number 4 at this point anyways and I like that it forces the team’s hand to NOT go with the established player)- 2026 Bombers Season
Condell demands a lot out of his QBs, and maybe Thorne and Wilson just weren't getting the new system.- Space is the Place

2 hours ago, Noeller said: How is Perkins a veteran back up? He's no more a veteran than Ermergerdsma. This game tomorrow will determine a lot. If the two rookies look good, they won't airlift a veteran like MBT or whatever... They'll find a neg lister to bring in. If the rookies look like ass, however, then they might panic and being in someone with CFL experience (a "veteran", if you will ..) Who the heck is Ermergerdsma?- Yesterday

Just like Noeller- 2026 Bombers Season
That O'Shea allowed the travesty that was Hogan to continue all season when even the most optimistic fan saw it as such says volumes about O'Shea- and even Walters.- 2026 Bombers Season
thats the key...Our depth/role/glue/intangible guys before could step in and play...and have an impact....The gys we have on back half of lineup can step in...but arent quality contributors...and the vets we leaned on then...not old in the tooth with younger more athletic guys being snubbed....big difference yup...we lost the right balance Perkins albeut no experience up here...is a seasoned vet...with professional playing time over a number of yrs...in a number of leagues...Maybe he has really picked up the CFL game and Wilson sensed his being cut due to it- Around the NHL 2025-26
They also finally played a good team. Montreal is good. They beat 2 very good teams in Tampa and Buffalo. Carolina has had the easy route with Ottawa and Philly. Both Tampa and buffalo over 100 points. Over 200 combined. Ottawa Philly were ranked 8 and 7 pretty much. Combined 180 ish points. Montreal has had the harder route. They have faced adversity. Carolina has not.- 2026 Bombers Season
Elgersma looked legit. Can make all the throws and easily. Wilson? Not so much. Probably saw the new kid come in and throw 40 yard darts downfield and said yeah I’m out of here. Oh well. lol at MBT or any other veteran cfl backup. Why would they do that. Why does the QB need cfl experience cuz the QBs out there are not potential starters. Why bring in guys you know who will never start. If Zach gets banged up it’s TE or BP time. Crazy thought. Maybe just maybe TE and or BP can be starters in the league. Worst case they are crappy cfl backups who just are backups their whole career or maybe they can be franchise QBs. Cuz CFL desperately needs new blood at the QB position, recycling never was and never will be’s is just crazy talk.- Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news
yeah tried before in 1994 and failed miserably.- 2026 Bombers Season
Maybe or it can be a case of Wilson being with the team for a few years feeling like he’s earned his keep and should be the back up, but wasn’t re assured ( nor should he be) and decided to quit. I’m not overly concerned. Thorpe by all accounts has interests else where. I’m going to believe it’s a case they believe in the guys currently on the roster at the quarterback position are going to be in a position to make the team better. I would feel the same way. Wilson is a good short yardage guy but if he’s never going to be a starter, and he’s not a specialist like Stevens really why would we continue to put time and reps.- 2026 Bombers Season
I'm sure Tyrrell Pigrome is out there somewhere waiting for a call...- 2026 Bombers Season
All I know is tomorrow is going to be VERY interesting. In some ways, Condell's job just got way easier, but if both TE and BP look like ****, it just got way harder. Pray for the former...- 2026 Bombers Season
Brilliant. Will be stealing and passing off as my own. As to the rest of the post, I just think this was the plan all off season. We never brought in a vet QB, even before Ermergerdsma was signed. Perkins was signed with the hope that he could fill the Streveler role. Whether that’s purely SY or the primary backup will likely depend on how the preseason goes, but I’m putting my money on Ermergerdsma.
