About 200 early-season ice fishers were caught by surprise and stranded in a Minnesota lake when the frozen slab under their feet broke free and drifted into open water -- triggering a complex rescue operation.

A member of the group called emergency services Monday when they realized the people ice fishing -- a popular winter sport in the northern US state known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes -- were slowly drifting away from the shoreline of Upper Red Lake, local police said on Facebook.

Apilot on the doomed MH370 flight likely lowered the plane’s landing gear just before it plunged into the Indian Ocean, according to new evidence, which suggests it could have been a premeditated act of mass murder.

The Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 with 239 people on board, dropped off radar screens after taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, bound for Beijing on March 8, 2014.

The plane took an unexplained U-turn from its planned flight path and headed back across the Malay Peninsula and the Malacca Strait before vanishing. The bodies of those on board have never been found.

Little useful physical evidence has been recovered to prove what happened, until last month, when a landing gear door was found by a Madagascan fisherman. 

Initial analysis shows that the damage was from the interior side to the exterior side of the debris item and leads to the conclusion that the landing gear was highly likely extended on impact.

Aviation experts Blaine Gibson and Richard Godfrey said in a new report: “The realistic possibility that the landing gear was lowered shows both an active pilot and an attempt to ensure the plane sank as fast as possible after impact.

“The combination of high speed impact and extended landing gear show a clear intent to hide the evidence of the crash.”

Hytera products are banned for sale and import in the United States. The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has blacklisted the company for posing "an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States or the security and safety of United States persons."

Hytera is the owner of Ontario-based Sinclair Technologies. The federal government faced some pointed national security questions earlier this month when Radio-Canada reported on a contract between Sinclair and the RCMP to supply Mounties with radio frequency (RF) filtering equipment.

The RCMP has since suspended the contract and the Mounties say they're reviewing the RF equipment they've installed.

In February 2017, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) awarded a contract worth just under $3 million to Canquest Communications of Chatham, Ont., to provide digital mobile radios and radio communication infrastructure for CBSA in the Niagara Region, which includes four points of entry.

A spokesperson for Procurement and Public Services Canada said the contract with Canquest did not include any security requirements.

Renner was blowing his driveway out at his home at Lake Tahoe after a heavy snowfall and was hit by a passing big snow plow.
