The whole site/app is breaking. So many bugs and errors now. It's becoming unusable and anyone worth following is leaving.

Yep laying off 6000 people tends to bring quality control down. Weird that the number of new subscribers is way up since his takeover. Morbid fascination I guess.

Or they are just allowing more fake accounts.  There's a lot of complaints about the bots so there are a lot of posts like this all over twitter lately:

Yeah, it's loaded with bots now and they're not even trying to stop it.

No one is going TO Twitter. You would think that is obvious.

Regulators Seize First Republic Bank, Sell To JPMorgan Chase

NEW YORK (AP) — The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. says JPMorgan Chase Bank will take over all deposits and most of the assets of troubled First Republic Bank.

The FDIC said early Monday that California regulators had closed First Republic and appointed it as receiver. JPMorgan Chase will assume “all of the deposits and substantially all of the assets of First Republic Bank,” it said in a statement.
First Republic Bank’s 84 branches in eight states will reopen Monday as branches of JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Regulators had been working to find a way forward before U.S. stock markets opened Monday. San Francisco-based First Republic has struggled since the collapses of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in early March. They added to worries that the bank may not survive as an independent entity for much longer.

Regulators searched for a solution to First Republic Bank’s woes over the weekend, hoping to find a way forward before U.S. stock markets opened Monday.

(And the American taxpayers foot the bill again)

‘Godfather of A.I.’ leaves Google after a decade to warn society of technology he’s touted

  • Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “godfather of AI” is leaving his role at Google, and plans to warn of the risks of the technology he’s long promoted.
  • Hinton told CNBC that he now thinks digital intelligence can “acquire hugely more knowledge than any individual biological agent.”
  • Google and Microsoft are among the mega-cap tech companies investing heavily in new AI models

For the past decade Hinton worked part-time at Google, between the company’s Silicon Valley headquarters and Toronto. But he has quit the internet giant, and he told the New York Times that he’ll be warning the world about the potential threat of AI, which he said is coming sooner than he previously thought.

“I thought it was 30 to 50 years or even longer away,” Hinton told the Times, in a story published Monday. “Obviously, I no longer think that.”

Hinton, who was named a 2018 Turing Award winner for conceptual and engineering breakthroughs, said he now has some regrets over his life’s work, the Times reported, citing near-term risks of AI taking jobs, and the proliferation of fake photos, videos and text that appear real to the average person.

In a statement to CNBC, Hinton said, “I now think the digital intelligences we are creating are very different from biological intelligences.”

Giant phallus-shaped iceberg floating in Conception Bay surprises residents of Dildo, Canada

A penis-shaped iceberg floats in the water with two icy ball-shaped structures at its base. A penis-shaped iceberg floated by the town of Dildo, Canada, which isn't too far from the city of Spread Eagle and the town of Placentia. (Image credit: Ken Pretty)

It doesn't get any more apt than this: A photographer from the Newfoundland town of Dildo has captured images of a penis-shaped iceberg off the Canadian coast.

The suggestive 'berg consists of a column with a domed head protruding up from two oval rafts of ice. Photographer Ken Pretty captured a shot of the ice formation by drone near the town of Harbour Grace, which sits along — the puns keep adding up — Conception Bay.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the "dickie berg," as locals are calling it, has attracted international attention, with Pretty sharing news stories from as far away as Thailand and Taiwan on his Facebook page.

Petition to ban the picture has already begun in Southern Manitoba, I'm sure.

Send them to church where they can be groomed reeducated!

God's law has been compromised.

Superior Authority that permitted this photo to be shown must be challenged with all our might.

But seriously we joke because it's a coping mechanism but all you knuckle draggers out there that hide behind religion to spew and act on your drivel make it bad for good people of faith and/or religion.

I'm tired of hearing your absurdness and the danger your causing to the sane collective society of humans who just want to co-exist and at times thrive with one another.

In this specific instance whether you know it or not or accept it, this is not a discussion with multiple varying different perspectives that add value.

It's sane versus insane. You've chosen your side.

Insane absurd dangerous drivel is not 'just another perspective'.

The grave of an unknown soldier in Belgium has recently been identified as belonging to a First World War soldier from Winnipeg who was killed trying to bring wounded people to safety.

Staff with the Canadian Armed Forces casualty identification program confirmed the grave belongs to Cpl. Frederick Percival (Percy) Bousfield, who was 20 when he died in 1916, through historical and archival research, a news release from Canada's Department of National Defence said Wednesday.

A black and white photo of a soldier in uniform. He's seen sitting on a block with his arms crossed.

'Unparalleled in its audacity and scope': Herschel Walker implicated in 'jaw-dropping' wire fraud scheme

Failed United States Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R-Georgia) — who had the backing of former President Donald Trump — has been implicated in an "unprecedented," "stunning," and "jaw-dropping" scandal involving crimes such as wire fraud and campaign finance violations.

Late Wednesday evening, The Daily Beastexclusively reported that Walker solicited "hundreds of thousands of dollars" from billionaire benefactor Dennis Washington in March of 2022 "for his own personal company—a company that he never disclosed on his financial statements."
Correspondent Roger Sollenberger revealed that "emails obtained by The Daily Beast—and verified as authentic by a person with knowledge of the exchanges—show that Walker asked Washington to wire $535,200 directly to that undisclosed company, HR Talent, LLC. And the emails reveal that not only did Washington complete Walker's wire requests, he was under the impression that these were, in fact, political contributions."

Sollenberger noted that "in the best possible circumstances, legal experts told The Daily Beast, the emails suggest exponential violations of federal fundraising rules; in the worst case, they could be an indication of more serious crimes, such as wire fraud."

That, however, represents the tip of a gigantic iceberg of alleged corruption.

"According to the legal experts who spoke to The Daily Beast for this article, this scheme appears to not just be illegal—it appears to be unparalleled in its audacity and scope," Sollenberger wrote. "The transactions raise questions about a slew of possible violations. In fact, these experts all said, the scheme was so brazen that it appears to defy explanation, ranking it among the most egregious campaign finance violations in modern history."

If you know anything about Walker, you know he does not have the mental capacity to come up with a scheme like this.

Perhaps not, but he is knee-deep in it and will hang for it. The corruption that has always existed within the GOP but amplified and legitimized by Trumpers has come to its inevitable conclusion.

Not making any excuses for Walker but he had a traumatic childhood, he was overweight, had a speech impediment and was relentlessly bullied and beat up by schoolmates, needless to say that experience scarred him for life.  He started doing push ups in the 8th grade and got up to around 2000 per day, along with 3000 sit-ups and 1500 pullups which transformed him into a physical beast.  To say he ran "angry" is an understatement, he wanted to kill people.  He got into MMA at age 50 just so he could legally beat people up, great athlete but probably not the best candidate for public office!

There is an episode about his life on ESPN 30 for 30.  This video is a good recap of that documentary.
