Jets Prospects

Kyle Connor has 48 point in 27 games an average of 1.7787 points per game .

Dylan Larkin had 47 points in 35 games for the same team last year for an average of 1.343 points per game .

Jack Eichel had 71 points in 40 games in his last year of college for  an average of 1.775 points per game .

I see Connor making the team in the fall and actually signing in March and getting a couple of weeks on the Jets roster at the end of the season.

I am hoping to see Connor on one wing with Wheeler or Ehlers or Armia on the other wing with Scheif or Matthews at center.

Going forward... Connor Scheif Wheeler Armia Ehlers and Matthews/Laine/Puljujärvi look like a pretty solid top 6 for a few years.

Lemieux, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Lowry, Harkins, De Leo,  Lipon, and Spacek will be fighting for roster spots sooner or later.

We have Comrie and Helle and Phillips for depth in goal and look to be set for some time.

Our D, on the other hand, needs some help on the depth. Besides Morrissey, there isn't much coming up the pike on the left hand side and I fully expect the Jets to take some LHD at this draft or trade for one by this time next year. There is Sami Niku and not much else. The RHD right now is very good but not a great deal coming up the pike. Hopefully Kostalek makes the team in at least a 3rd pairing position and hopefully Glover and/or Poolman and/or Nogier turn out.

I was with you until you mentioned where they were drafted like that actually matters.

No. Most have said Helle is legit. Comrie has yet to prove anything in the A. This is a big year for him.. This and next...

They only said he was legit after his rookie season in the NHL...  All of TSN's guys have said that Comrie is the hotter prospect and has a higher upside.

Comrie was definitely the higher-ranked prospect.... no doubt about that.  But at this point Helle has proven that he is an NHL starter, and a very good one at that.

Can Comrie eventually become the better goalie?  I have no idea.  Maybe.  That would be pretty incredible for the franchise.

Not to mention with Berdin looking good ... the club definitely has a good chance for great goalie depth down the road.

The take away from this is that the Jets took a franchise with big holes and in a relatively short period of time have built something to be excited about. Not just what the Jets are doing now, but what we have on the Moose and the next wave of kids. You never know who will make it but it sure looks promising.

There is a GM of the year award coming for Mr Chevy eventually.

just think where Connor would be right now if he had started the season with Schief and Wheels...

Interesting prospect. Literally nothing was known about him when he was drafted.. Moose goalie coach liked him tho. Still very little known.

If this kid is as good as he seems....

He’s 6’4, 210. And 18 years old.

He looked so big and skilled at the juniors. Can't wait to see how he develops. I expect to see him in a Moose uniform next year.

I got to watch Niku up close last weekend. I really watched him closely. He moves the puck with ease and looks so comfortable out there. He made the right move defending a two-on-one, which can be challenging for a young player. I'm not a scout but he looks like a player that can play at the next level. I hope to see him in a Jets uniform in the next few years.

Is he not signed for one more year with his current team?

Maybe he is, I didn't know that. Too bad because I would really like to see him with the Moose next season.

One year deal.  Expires in April.  I suspect he's Moose bound next season.  Looks too good not to.   Might eventually have a Vesalainen - Schief - Laine line.  Gettting way ahead of myself but the kid is big and works hard.

Wouldnt be surprised to see Vesa join the Moose for the playoffs this season.

Laine and Vesalainen on the wings with Scheif or Wheeler C will be scary

Wheeler at C is already scary.

Laine shoots right and Vesalainen shoots left.  Both have that great shot.  Defend that!
