Jets Prospects

Mason doesn't re-signed after his contract. Helly gets an extension of 5 years @ 4.5+ this offseason even if he falls back to earth. Mason, Hutch are now off the books and you hope that Comrie is NHL backup caliber. Comrie has been tagged as a potential NHL player but I really don't see it personally. Prove me wrong please Comrie. Can never have too many quality tenders in the NHL

Comrie is/was looked upon to be a better prospect then Hellebuyck.

Yeah, draft position wise for sure.

I think this is one of those "goalies are voodoo" cases. Comrie as a full timer had .906 and then .907 career avg while Helle sported back to back .921 and .922 in the A. Granted Comrie is having the best year of his career and has reached .920 (for now). If he could maintain that we could have one hell of a duo in a couple of years when he's ready.

Statistically Helle just blows Comrie out of the water and at the end of the day that's what it comes down to regardless of draft position.

Apples and Oranges... you can't compare stats.

How is it apples and oranges? You're comparing two players who play the same position.

At different times with a different set of players... The Moose these season are light years more talented then what they were the last two seasons.

But Hellebuyck played with different - and inferior - players during his time in the AHL, too. And he posted excellent numbers in his two seasons with the Ice Caps and Moose, respectively.

And the two played together in the AHL during the 2015-16 season, with the exact same roster. Hellebuyck's numbers that season were superior to Comrie's.

Comrie is also 2 years younger then Hellebuyck... so if we compared the stats based on where they were in development..... Comrie is right on par with what Helle had done.

Comrie was also drafted 3 rounds earlier...

Most NHL experts also have suggested that Comrie has the higher upside.

The guy is a top prospect and could be the starting goalie of the future.

I was with you until you mentioned where they were drafted like that actually matters.

No. Most have said Helle is legit. Comrie has yet to prove anything in the A. This is a big year for him.. This and next...
