Chris Matthews off to the NFL

Chris Matthews is off to the NFL.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver, who was the CFL’s rookie of the year in 2012, will make a decision on which team he will join this afternoon. Matthews, 24, became a free agent on Tuesday and was weighing contract offers on both sides of the border.

“All the details will be ironed out today,” Matthews’ agent, Rodney Edwards, said this afternoon. “It’s down to two teams.” Edwards said no matter which deal Matthews takes, he will receive a signing bonus.

Good luck to you!

Chris Matthews, thy new name is Nick Moore.

Wiecek.... Just how did the Bombers fail to sign Matthews if he went to the NFL? That would be a dumb comment.

Good for him, I hope he comes back here if he doesn't make it up there.

Good enough to make it ? hmmmm...

Are you in Mexico ? ;)

The Nick Moore signing is looking a lot better now.

Matthews may be back....

No dumber than his comment about Muamba....

has Ted Laurent signed an NFL contract yet?

has Ted Laurent signed an NFL contract yet?

He's got a work out some time this week. If that doesn't result in an offer then the Laurent sweepstakes begin. I saw one article valuing him at $150K. I hope if that's true that the Bombers at least show some interest and put in a contract offer. He'd be a big piece on the DL. He won't be a replacement for Doug Brown (no one really could be) but he'd give us some roster flexibility.

Hope for the best for Chris down there but I think his speed or lack of, and age will ultimately see him come back North, hopefully with us.

He's only 24 years old.

Ted Laurent signing with the Bombers would make instant fans of Walters by all and sundry here. Now, if only Christo Bilikudi returns to the fold...actually, he was never in the fold.

I think its pretty much a given that the Bombers would/have offered Laurent a ton of money. Whether he would be interested in coming here is the question.

I said to Noeller a while back that if Bilikudi or Mulumba wanted to go and get themselves cut from the NFL that'd be a huge boon to the Bombers.

Lolol sad but true..

Good enough to make it ? hmmmm...

big enough, good hands and skilled... Not fast enough and age is climbing... Could be a possession reciever maybe down south..

Ya, thought he was 28 for some reason, which is still not too old but older by NFL standards. Hope he sticks for his sake, hope he comes back for ours :)

Did they say which 2 teams he is interested in? I'd feel much better about him going to the NFL if he became a Green Bay Packer :)

They don't know which teams have made offers.

No word yet?

it would be really cool to see Matthews grabbing passes from Tom Brady next year. The Patriots need an upgrade at receiver after losing Welker and with Gronk being constantly injured.

The Moore signing looking better as each day passes!  Glad we got him when we did and didn't stand around waiting for Edwards to retire and Matthews to go tp the NFL and then scramble to find a replacement.  Good luck to Matthews!

Percy Harvin better watch his back!  Good luck CM - hope to see you with a Super Bowl ring this time next year.

PS - if Matthews does make the Seahawks and does well, does this mean all year I have to listen to Joe Buck go on about how Matthews "toiled in obscurity up in Canada the past two years paying his dues" like I had to hear all year about Jerrell Freeman? It's just so condescending....
