Pre-Season Game #2: Bombers @ Ticats - Kickoff @ 6:00 Ct

So guys and gals, lots of subplots to talk about here.  Burke brings the bare minimum of a roster to Guelph, including a majority of rookies, each of whom will not be able to complain that they didn't get enough playing time.  The proof will be in how they play.

The first ever CFL game being played in Guelph at Alumni Field in front of a huge crowd of 13,000 spectators.  I am guessing there won't be too many traffic problems....

Quote from Burke:

To make sure we get to the regular season opener June 27th against Montreal as healthy as we can be.  That's one thing I learned from Mark Trestman.   Last year we went into the season opener without our two starting offensive tackles, with our number-three running back and with injuries in the secondary.  I want our best players on the field against the Alouettes.  Besides, we've got quite a few guys playing in this game who are fighting for roster spots, a couple for starting positions, and we are going to get to see what they can do against Hamilton's number ones.  It will tell us who belongs and who doesn't.....
....We could get blasted in this game and I hope our fans don't put too much stock into the final score.  Our intent is to evaluate the newcomers and make sure the vets are healthy when there are points at stake in the standings.

  • Honestly, this is a lot better game than last week so far. Making some completions on offense, and the D is decent in coverage and getting push up front....

  • do or die

It's not all bad:   Burke lived up to his promises, before this game, completely nailed the ugly part...... We have an exact and well scouted idea............ on what not to do... We have establis

  • Isn't Brett Carter the local kid with no chance of making the team..........and he gets the hardest working player of the game for the Bombers.......that doesn't reflect well on what the scouts brough

Goltz playing good or bad? Listening while I sit at a convocation. A pick and a fumble so far for him.

Bad snap on the fumble I think

Are the Tiger Cats playing many vets on there D right now

Goltz - looking good on pass so far, but not on the rush...

Garrett - looks like feeling the pressure so far, need to relax and forget about the RB competition

Ticats TD, poor tackling on the Bombers cover team

HHmm   special  teams, here we go again..

75% of the guys on special teams right now probably wont be here in a couple days

heard pencer got some time at rt too.

Sure would be nice if some individual players had good games... Hopefully Hall gives us something in second half.

rough outing for goltz

Sheesh Goltz with two picks and another reversed. I'd love to be able to see the tape and look at the reads. Right now it sounds like he's getting duped by the secondary.

coukd you even bet this game at bodog or bet 365?

We have established a psychological edge on the rest of the league.......other fans will expect to win 74-6 every time out

When we do score a TD, it should be absolute major party time

Must admit.....this new optimistic approach is really working for me....

Just waiting for Buck to get hurt in the first couple of games, but even if he doesn't it seems like we have a very poor team this year.

Pre Season or not, the panic button can deservingly be pushed IMO.

and the 08 lions should have planned a parade route after their preseason?

Not even raw rookies should sound this poorly coached, even in preseason. This is scary bad.

I severely, severely dislike idiots. I think I'll leave it at that.

Good thing they are getting all the turnovers out of their system before the regular season

Wow. I just got home from a GOLDEYES game that got rained out, and it was still probably a better game than this. Thanks goodness it wasn't on TSN so I don't have to watch this atrocity.

I totally missed the game.  Cut my lawn before it rained.  How did the other 2 QB's do?

I as well forgot about the game.....  glad I did.   Was Doug Brown freaking out post game?

So I wonder how long before McPherson  or Jyles gets a call or how long before Burke panics and we trade a 1st rounder for Glenn?
