I would think the offensive guys are just rest/maintenance. Hopefully Smith will be ready for Friday.

If Singer can't play & they replace him with Cobb I'll puke.

Lots of offensive players that aren't practising. Ironic that none of the defensive players that played are not practising and they were on the field for most of the game.

D players are tougher. lol

It sucks that smith is hurt but surely there's a better option to go on than Novak?

Replacing a ratio-breaking rising star with run of the mill lunch box teams guy is classic. They should give Shay reps at wil/mac with smith out, but we will probably just see more Kelly.

Well, most teams don’t have a ratio-breaking rising star just sitting on the bench waiting to get plugged in if the first ratio-breaking rising star gets injured, so I can’t be too mad about this one.

Novak for Smith is a kick in the pouch.

my Exact thoughts too...

Yup...such a waste of a move and why not give Shay reps....and even with Texada on roster no reason that Kelly should keep being used as well...

Unfortunately not really

I'd throw Vibert on in lieu of the waste of Big Legs eating a DA spot....and if we still feel this need to waste a spot...use it on Vpool as he is better, or see what Poncius brings...carry him all yr may as well get a look...no?...Makes sense but then again we dealing with Osh now

And really Peterson would offer more over all than Novack....2 back sets...coverage for BO if knicked or god forbid injured...and he is nursing an injury anyway....

Overall tho again one the best lineups we can put out there based on our limited/sad excuse for a PR...If we would backseat Kelly for Texada, as ratio wise he doesnt need to be out there....and get Smithback next game and possible play-offs then thats pretty much our best version...if we use the pieces right

And since Eli gets the nod again...safe to say the coaching realized who is the best option?....and if he was so bad along with rest of the line... as some were kinda alluding to...why would he be starting again??...Unless the HC is a brain dead idiot...but again...it is Osh....lol

Not many healthy Canadian choices to add to the AR from the PR. I would have added Peterson especially since Oliviera hasn't practised much recently.

He literally hasn't practiced much all season and leads the league in rushing. It's not a problem.

No, but we have the flexibility to move in a higher-ceiling Canadian elsewhere (Shay) or to use the DI/Nat better to have an imp in that spot.

I would 100% roster Vanterpool if healthy. I might go with both he and Viebert, actually. That covers every OL position in case of injury, and gives the heavy set the ability to actually outmatch other teams.

So does Shay really suck or did he piss off MOS?

Has he ever given a chance to show that he sucks or can do the job? Smith got a few reps before finally becoming a starter (due to injuries) but I don't know if I've ever seen Shay get on the field unless it was for ST?

At this point he's Garrett Waggoner 2.0 .. a dude we surrendered a first round pick for but may never live up to that billing (or be given a chance to live up to that billing).

I've never seen him get a chance to get in on defense. We trot Kelly week after week and Shay can't get a sniff? Come on. You drafted him in the first round for a reason.

Smith started to make plays all the time on teams before he got his few and far between chances on defense. Then it was injuries that actually gave him the chance to play D and not come out. So basically shay isn't making plays on teams he's not going to get a chance. Does he deserve one? I dunno, but that's how it works in bomber land. You gotta jump off the page in limited chances and hope someone gets hurt to get a chance.

He hasn't won a job with his team's play like Smith did, but he hasn't been given much opportunity even in pre-season to develop at wil/mac. He has been pressed into play in injury relief a bit and didn't look bad at all.

Not really like Waggoner; if anything, Smith is like him. Waggoner was a standout on teams, who performed very well in limited use on D, but didn't get much opportunity and retired young. Tbh, we had a lot of that in that era as well. 2 ol, 1lber, 1 dl, all retired young, buried behind older vets. We also saw young canucks leave in free agency at a high rate in that window as well.

They really tried to stick Shay and Smith out of position early. Smith has risen to that challenge and, against all odds, developed into a tremendous Sam. Even though those reps came due to injuries, we didn't seek out to develop or work Smith in. We seem to have stopped with the experiments of dressing Shay out of position, with the few times he got pushed into action. But we will see with Smith out; they may well slide him back in as the backup at Sam.

As we start to close in on the end of rookie deals for MCI, Clercius, Smith, Shay, Wallace, and even Peterson, if that cycle continues. That group has a massive amount of talent and largely has been underutilized, despite all showing flashes of brilliance.

Yep, and if you look at all the talk/rankings pre-draft, Shay was the number one rate LB and yet he hasn't played a single regular snap after almost 2 full seasons. It's beyond belief that there hasn't been an opportunity at any point (due to injury or performance), for him to see the field. He may turn out to be a bust but will we ever actually know?

He's probably already got Free Agency 2028 circled on his calendar. Play out the rookie deal and then go somewhere that will give him a shot.

as he isnt 100 percent healthy...so the smarter person would maybe if opportunity arises to insert some depth there...and maybe take some load off...especially if something tweaks with his injury would perhaps add him, a guy who also plays ST instead of some insignificant LB who is never gonna see the field for defensive snaps, and if he does we have had multiple injuries in the game to starters and depth guys....makes sense in my world and many others....but this is Oshiepants world where the sane and prudent doesnt exist

Not just the no1 rated Lber, but one of the very top rated prospects. Not just one of the talking heads, the scouting bureau had him in the top overall prospects through out the year. He finished at no4, behind Rourke, Ayomanor who started in the NFL last year and Shand who is starting for the argos at dt.

But that just makes too much sense and gives u a deeper...stronger roter...when have we done that before??...lol

all part of it....But some great players also are just not good on teams....and running down the field all game either blocking...chasing a ball carrier, or just maintaining your gap isn't a predicator of what a guy would do on the defensive side of tha ball....just aint

He hasnt been exposed repeatedly as a guy missing his assignments on teams...nor in the highlights whiffing and missing....He has the unfortunate reality of being on a team where the HC favors his favs...and his vets even if they are lesser in ability...Stuck behind Lost in Space Jones and I was awesome in the early 20's Wilson....and the HC will rarely if ever give backups reps...even in blowouts.

Also...as much as many dont wanna believe it a HC who favors his Canadians, and Shay being a "fake" Canadian is stuck behind clowns like Kelly...good in a limited role Kramdi and why he still here Hallett....and for the consensus "most pro ready" guy in his draft pretty sad he gets no real opp....I sure he will look elsewhere this off-season and prob be playng defence elsewhere...and playing it well

and I bet a good chunk of them will leave...especially if they see early signs of the same ol same ol before FA opens...

yup, as I also mentioned...guys need to play real reps, in games that are still in question...withthe starting cast...against starters....There is no development of any kind sitting on the PR all yr running scout....or as a backup stuck behind a vet or a fav who never gets reps....and next to no 1st team reps in practice....Only thing it proves is you have a good attitude and keep plugging away hard in practice even tho knowing what's the effin point. And really everyone should be going hard everyday anyway....It's the feeling safe and comfy vets who are the sneaky slackers...cause they know they safe in certain environments

Look how many vets...or just inferior guys our coach chooses to play who I am sure work hard in practice too, but when the curtain falls suck on the field...Its about ability, athleticism...smarts...and that comes in raw rookies...2nd yr guys...6 yr guys....and good teams recognize this and play their best....it's gotta be earned coming outta camp...and earned and maintained every game....too many gifts and "by defaults" with a Osh led squad

I believe as well he was already being scouted and had attracted teams interest as just a Import LB until it was determined he could become a Canadian
