From Our Man Tait, regarding absences at today's practice....

FYI: Guard Pat Neufeld was at practice on Monday but did not participate. O’Shea called it a ‘vet card’. Micah Vanterpool worked in his place between Chris Kolankowski and Kendall Randolph.

CB Demerio Houston was absent, but excused, while CB Jamal Parker, Jr. worked in his spot.

the week after a bye, in the end of the season with us in the cross over spot. No one should be getting vet card days. It’s not like practice is insanely physically demanding in this era either.

We don't know anything of the context... And a guy like Neufeld, whose number one issue is staying healthy and ready to go for the long haul of playoffs.... Who ******* cares about one day of practice?

Just ty[ical though, isn't it? Three games left in the middle of a playoff run & they give Neufeld a vet day.

Have ppl actually been to practice since the 90s? Cuz it ain’t what it used to be. My daughter and I checked one out in August I believe, she was off school still and we left after 15 minutes. Went to bomber store and that was that. Nothing happens. There was more contact and ppl moving faster at the bomber store than on field. Less shouting but definitely more contact at the store cuz I bumped into a rack and it almost fell over. That was more than we saw on the field. At this point of season I’d think keeping guys like Neufeld healthy would be more important cuz we all know if he got hurt in practice most of you would lose your **** on O’Shea. Neufeld is what he is. He isn’t gonna be getting any better or worse. He is what he is. I’d rather keep guys healthy than send them out for meaningless practice. Honestly they should change practice to walk throughs cuz essentially that’s what it’s become.

If you need an extra day after a bye week to stay healthy, you aren't going to stay healthy anyway. his main issue isn't fighting off injuries; it's how much he's degraded in terms of level of play when injuries have and may have been involved that he played through. Rest day isn't going to change that.

lol at practice. You mean light jogging and no contact.

And this, as I mentioned as well. Practice these days is soft AF. He could've shown up in slippers and a housecoat without an issue.

It's not any big issue of it self, but it is a big old red flag indicating the over all problem. At this point, they should be kicking it into high gear. Instead, we are trialing guys for next year's camp, handing out vet days, and doing the minimum.

Edmonton is going to play hungry. They need to win to stay alive in the playoffs. They just surprised the riders and are a better team than their record indicates. If we don't match or exceed their energy/physicality/execution early in this game, it's going to be tough to win.

Yup. Zach tends to struggle in the true frozen north. Hopefully Brady is good to go and with that the OL including an old oft injured Neufeld aging Stan Krap kolo who also had a day off I see, Wallace who was iffy to start 2 games ago and a solid Randolph. What could go wrong.
