BanjoBowl Questions from First Time Riders' Fans Attending the Game.

Greetings all, the LDC was another epic event and had an incredible time with many Bombers fans here in Regina.   It was such a great time that we have decided to get tickets to the Banjo Bowl and are very excited about attending this event with the other best fanbase in the CFL.   We have tickets in Section 143 and we are staying at the Alt Hotel downtown.   Any suggestions or recommendations would be very much appreciated of good places to party or visit.   We are arriving late Friday afternoon and staying until Sunday.

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and responses, we can't wait.

getting early to experience the tailgating and the area around the stadium where there are things going on is always a good start....coming from off portage you will have a decent trek to the stadium so make sure to give yourself adequate time as there is construction everywhere

If you are going to the game from your hotel and want to save a few bucks you can take rapid transit instead of an uber/taxi.

There is a bus stop across the street at the arena and the stadium bus comes by every 20 minutes on Saturday.

Just make sure to take the Blue line to the UofM and not St Nobert.

It's just over 30 minutes and 3.35 per person.

Edit: this bus uses a rapid transit corridor for a good portion of the trip so it avoids most of the construction that Booch refers to.

Really appreciate this booch and Gordo as we were planning ubering to the stadium.    Any good bars (like Revival in Regina) where football fans party on BB weekend?

This is the only event I am aware of for Friday night:

That looks like alot of fun, we will be there.   Anything for post game on Saturday?

Also, is Section 143 "safe" for a couple of Riders fans? lol

Hope you have fun until kickoff.

The Alt hotel is smack dab in the middle of downtown. It'll be sketchy outside. I'm not trying to scare you, just use common sense and be cautious if you're spending time out there.

I don’t find it to be overly sketchy outside the ALT most nights. I mean I’ve never stayed over night downtown in my own city but I find they light it up real good there and that keeps the trouble away. Portage is pretty quiet at night honestly. The one time we came home from a party on young at about 4am and walked down town it was dead. Like it looked like a ghost town. Most the problems are closer to Higgins and that area now. Higgins and main. Also near the Winnipeg regional health authority building on main. Look down the alleys next time. It’s crazy. ALT is pretty well lit and they tend to do a good job keeping the “trash” away.

Not cheap but good local beer and good food.

There's always The Palomino Club.

Welcome to Winnipeg @JGD .  I definitely recommend you guys check out the tailgate on game day.   Definitely use the transit system to get to and from the stadium.   There are bunch of park and ride locations you can leverage.  Parking is a bit of nightmare around the stadium,

If you're looking for some good food options I definitely recommend  Brazen Hall on Pembina Hwy or One Great City Brewing Co on Ness Ave.  Not on game day though :)

Enjoy the game and GO BOMBERS!

Thanks all, we are leaving early tomorrow morning.

What area outside of the stadium is the tailgating?

You can find tailgating all over the place near the stadium.   If you are taking rapid transit to the game, you may want to head over to the parking lots near University & Dysart.  The official team area is just east side of the building (corner of Chancellor Matheson & University).  Here's a rough map with some locations where you can find tailgating.
