Thing is you can have mid-season turn around in the cfl pretty easily. The key is you actually have to make changes.

Remember when we moved on from Nichols to Zach... made a difference right away.

we never really went Nichols to Zach... Nichols was hurt and streveler took over from him for the better part of the back half of the season, but he also got the ankle injury. Collaros started 1 game in the regular season in 2019 and then in the playoffs split time with Streveler and both leaned on Andrew Harris anyway.

The difference in 2019 were things like moving Alexander to safety, bringing in Taylor at halfback and Maston at SAM and there was another DB came in who I can't remember his name right now...  those were the key moves in making 2019 a championship team. solidified the weakness of the defence and turned them into monsters.

Yes, let's do that again

You mean when Nichols got hurt and was out for the year and we went to Streveler and then when he faltered we played Zach out of desperation?

Strev was hurt as well tho...and struggling due to it

We won in 2019 but wasn't on shoulders of Collaros carrying us...but he was efficient and not skittish like now...or throwing as many picks as he does td's...

Oh I am well aware that our D was lights out and Harris carried us offensively in 2019.

Yeah...I was just adding to your post...not disagreeing 😁

that 2019 playoff defence was ******* dominant and Andrew Harris was mr. everything for the offense.

because the early part of the season the secondary was leaky people don't always appreciate just how bloody good the D was in the post season.

If we’d stayed with Jeff Hecht at safety the rest of the changes don’t cascade the same way and this team doesn’t make it out of Calgary in the 2019 West semi

That's what has me stumped...we still have the same HC. And Younger was solid at DC last year.

We have seen a few changes on defence, in particular along the d-line....it seemed to improve the group......Now the backfield, they appeared to bench Bridges for Vaval. and Vaval looked decent in a small sample size, he seems to close quick.....I like what Parker brings but perhaps he isn't a safety. maybe put him back where he played well......I think though the the scheme is too much.....multiple times we have witnessed outright confusion...simplify it......hate to go back to the well, but maybe BA is still in shape..Is Cam Allen worth the risk....How close is Kelly to health

Wilson, Bonds, Parker, Holm, Nichols, Vaughters, Person, Adams, Lawson, Willie, Griffen have proven that they can play and be good....They aren't looking good so what is it...they all didn't forget or lose ability's.....Kramdi and T Jones have had flashes, and while Jake get's a ton of heat on here he is fine to rotate in......J Jones has shown he can ball, Maybe try Ayers off and him on.....The two new LB's in Shay an Smith have now got their feet wet in specials, can one or both have some rotation we dress them anyway.....Makonzo has started practicing again, he could help.....I think we can turn the D around without blowing it up.....

On offence, sorry but Zach has been bad, IMO time to give Strev. the reigns for a week or so with true 1st team reps and playcalling.....damn it if Brady is healthy USE him.........The O-line needs to figure out pass blocking,....the receivers are not getting it done Stearns tries and has been fine but is not a 1,2 receiver, Clercius is good for what he is, Demski is what he always is, Wheetfall has looked mostly good....but none are a true #1 barely a #2.... is Mitchel that guy...maybe but we will never know with him sitting in the doghouse all year....Corcoran looks better than I expected...honestly he has outplayed many of the Imports we have trotted out...I think Dalton will be a next year discussion, this is the biggest spot I believe we either need to see if Mitchel can fill, or we need to bring someone in.....

Specials other than return, but I thought Case had improved from last year.....have looked really good......

What we are doing is not working...let's not go drastic and look at firing coaches and GM's....but something needs to change....or those conversations will gain traction.....the season is salvageable...but for love of all things holy don't run out the exact same roster and game plans next week.........

O'Shea has repeatedly and obviously proven himself to be rigid in opposing productive change. He and possibly Walters as an enabler are the obstacles to a rapid turnaround. My read of O'Shea's personality is that he will not accede to change and if ordered to make the needed changes, he will resist and/or quit. If Walters refuses to give him an ultimatum, we may have a two-for-one transaction as I don't think Wade Miller will put up with that.

Streveler wasn't injured until his last start in Calgary, 2nd last game of the season.  Which is how Collaros got on the field starting the final regular season game here vs Calgary.

Collaros hadn't even dressed the game in Calgary when Streveler was injured.  They put in Sean McGuire and then Streveler came back in with the high ankle sprain/tibial fracture.

I am concerned of that too. Though his football IQ is enough that he can succeed on significnatly less athletic explosive ability than he had, if he can get to a new 100% and change his game. I don't think he was actually healthy enough to be playing at all this year.

I went thru that same injury many years ago & it truly is life altering as the knee joint never, ever fully recovers. It's misery years later when the knee eventually stops functioning. Schoen will keep tweaking it from time to time on the field causing him to miss an unknown amount of games in the future. I was told by someone here recently that today's surgical procedures are so much better than they were when I got injured. True but you can't change how severely that injury damages the joint. Medical science can't change that outcome, unfortuntely. Schoen's injury took place a year ago. By now, arthritis is starting to set in even with better surgical techniques & rehab.

Maybe Miller will take the shot...he is their boss and all...and not an idiot and does have a football background

Become President & GM? That would be a monumental task. I think a new title would be needed for Wade. Something like, Team President & Director of Football Operations. I think if Walters did leave that the job of GM would fall to Danny McManus. If not living here in the off season is part of the arrangement. Would that even work?

Twelve seasons with no change at GM & Head Coach is an eternity in pro sports. I think something has to give.

lot of it was a blur now...so yeah quite possible....almost to point some that success over a half decade ago was likely smoke and mirrors...lol....smoke has subsided now and big ol crack in that mirror

You know it wasn't. 2019 and 2021, this was a damn hard team to play against. They physically beat other teams up.

2019 and 2021 for sure....well erned tho a bit of luck for 2021....after that.....not so much....and dont even go on about first in west....means not much if you cant finish due to your own inpeptness....and for most part not blaming players....coaching failed them...and is continuing to

Suitor always brought up how both lines would beat up the opposition and by the 4th quarter we wore them down and would be able to run it down their throats.

He still brings this up yet this is no longer true.

2022 they were still a good team, they should have started more transition that offseason though. 2023 they were still a good team but some performance was sliding. Last season still mostly good (D in particular) but some more cracks showing. This season though age has fully caught up to them.

when you are still good...thats where u earn your money and know that you need to be looking 2...3 yrs forward...and if at the minimum have guys already working at the transition...being played....using your PR all yr to bring in...ship out guys...and yeah make the hard cuts where people may say...why??...we didnt do any of that and this was a steady build up to where we at now....right on the edge of either making some hard decisions now and righting the ship...or doing what we have been and having a total gutting next yr...and more than likely a few yrs of lost in the woods again....and if no real change at the top...we gonna be lost a while cause don't think we have the goods to coach our way outta it...and by goods i mean coaching ability
