The Coach Lapo On Youtube Thread

This week Lapo breaks down the Montreal offensive smackdown against Ottawa.

That all-24 view is so dope, it shows so much more than the regular broadcast.

@4:00 it's funny how ineffective the Redblacks undisguised blitz is.

@7:15 the tight end allows the slot receiver to attack the cornerback with a waggle.  I've been watching CFL for decades and I had no idea.  So obvious.

@9:23 every time I see a stack formation from now on I'm gonna watch to see if the db banjos it right.

Watching that makes me sad that we haven't found/brought in another pass rusher to make it really go. That's when you just become lethal at turning the ball over...like we were from 2016-2022

  • Lapo looks at Zach's play in the Banjo Bowl.  Another great informative video, with the main takeaway being that Saskatchewan was playing a zone defense designed to prevent explosion plays, and Zach w

Is Lapo just not a leader? I mean why did he fail as head coach so much.

gotta be something missing there. Because seems to understand the game quite well.

I dunno.

Least inspiring coach ever. Not a leader of men.

No killer instinct.

He coaches not to lose. Simple as that. Guy has a real good understanding of the game, but he never knows when to go for the jugular instead opting to play it safe.

One of the best X's and O's guys out there. Probably knows as much or more about that than any football coach in this league. That is not what a HC does though. He's got coordinators for that.

I would also add from what I've observed over the years was his stubbornness, his rigidness, his inflexibility to adapt on the fly, listen to others. He's a brilliant football man but it's also his greatest weakness, i.e., 'no this is exactly what we need to do, the players just aren't executing'.

Lapo is really cranking out the videos for Grey Cup week.  This is the breakdown of the Bombers D vs. Argobuckle from Week 8.

Lapo postmortem on the Winnipeg O vs. Argo D in the Grey Cup, if you can stand to watch it.

He specifically praises Wynton McManus and Benjy Frankin, who read their plays so well that they could be in two places at once.

Interesting how easy all the RPO stuff worked both pass and run.

Why would you run straight drop backs 9 out of 10 plays?

you want the real answer....cause we lack the ability and or mentality to in-game adjust....and rely too much on ...."well it worked before"......thats with scheme and player

Only stomached a bit. Soo many execution issues. Just ugly.

On a side note, lapo needs to get some one technical to help him soo badly. His content is great but the difficulty of him to get videos up, with sound and video he’s really struggling.

Half time adjustments used to be a strength too.
