Covid-19

I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here.

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended.

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd.

Political Rallies have been cancelled.

Travel bans.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested.

Those ICU numbers are getting beyond manageable. And Pallister has cut 20% of the Winnipeg ICU beds since taking over.

We are going down an ugly road.

It's quite possible that if things don't improve in the next couple of weeks that a lockdown may be in play, I never thought that it would talked about but we can't continue with 300 plus cases a day and people continuing to die and stretch the hospitals to a breaking point which could happen any day now if it hasn't already.

“Down in the West Texas town of El Paso...” The coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 110 El Paso residents in 3 weeks, and the far west Texas community is struggling to store its dead, officials said at a county commissioner meeting Monday. https://nbcnews.to/3kdWLCm

I'm not sure if you caught the end of today's Roussin presser but he said more restrictions were coming. When he hints like that, you know it's true. I'm still thinking schools will be closed to non-essential worker's children by the end of the week.

I also think they may be locking things down. They'll do it for two weeks to see if there's an affect on the numbers, then extend it if it doesn't.

So Bowman has not heard from Pallister since April... and basically called him out.   This is not looking good.

Caught bits and pieces, sensed he is very frustrated but maybe I reading to much of his mannerism's lately, I agree about the schools, and add gyms, retail and malls

Palliser and his government started the response to COVID well, and basked in the approbation from that. Now, they have lost the control and are down to knee-jerk reactions in putting out fires. The crises in Parkview and Maples care facilities should never been allowed to get this bad and were preventable.

Presser at 10:30 with Pallister and Roussin.

Drinking game: drink every time either says, "fundamentals". You'll be so drunk and blackout quickly, you'll forget how badly they're mismanaging this.

But seriously, expect another lockdown.

Announcement should be out any minute now but yes a full lockdown is coming.

Just like March all over again - only worse. What a dumpster fire.

It sounds like this will be implemented on Thursday, let the madness begin as people make a mad dash for toilet paper

It's been crazy at the stores all day, I've heard.

Close everything but the schools? I believe its been quoted in a study from the UK that gatherings over 10 and schools make up the greatest percentage of outbreaks, but what does science know?

I'm on the fence on this. We haven't seen much transmission in the schools, apparently, and they have made them safer (finally!!!) by reducing the class sizes.

However, kids are still getting and transmitting Covid. Not as quickly as adults. But, they're not being truthful about the spread in schools. They keep saying that they're not seeing school transmissions but several students/teachers/staff are getting it somewhere. It can't only be during recreation and outside.

they probably won't do anything about schools until there is a bad outbreak in at least one school per division(but that's just what I think). Just because it sounds like there is something that will  be ready next year doesn't mean people have to act stupidly
