Quote

An editorial in a prominent Kremlin media outlet appears to provide justification for the war with its call to erase the Ukrainian identity — language that geopolitical experts say is especially alarming after the discovery of dozens of dead civilians in a Kyiv suburb.

Written by Timofei Sergeitsev in RIA Novosti, the rhetoric in the editorial — entitled "What Russia should do in Ukraine" — is inflammatory, even by the usual Russian state media standards.

It claims the word "Ukraine" itself is synonymous with Nazism and cannot be allowed to exist.

"Denazification is inevitably also De-Ukrainianization,"  Sergeitsev writes, stating that the idea of Ukrainian culture and identity is fake.

When Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the military invasion into neighbouring Ukraine on Feb. 24, he justified the war by characterizing it as a way to "demilitarize" and "denazify" the country — utterly unfounded propaganda.

Yet Sergeitsev's editorial seizes on those words and takes them much further, writing that Ukraine's elite "must be liquidated as re-education is impossible" and since a "significant part of the masses … are passive Nazis and accomplices," Russia's punishment of the Ukrainian people is justified.

What utterly disgusting rhetoric.

I think it's pretty clear, at least to anyone with a functioning brain, who the nazi scum is.

There are people on this actual board that mimic similar things like Tucker Carlson and certain GOP’er’s who spew absurd bizarre rhetoric regularly on Fox, Twitter etc. And when this drivel is called out all it does is embolden these people more because they truly believe they know what’s really going on as the actual truth is right in front of us.

Suffocating.

You are "both siding" this?

In the USA, there is one party that stands for democracy and one that is trying to systematically dismantle the american republic...

you can't "both sides" this thing.

Baloney....the Democrats are every bit as corrupt as the Republicans. Clinton and Biden are no better than Trump they just aren't as public with their corruption.

It is gross to think their are people defending Russia's actions.

Clinton has not been in office for 20 years.

And, yes, they are all corrupt but the GOP is evil.

Wasn't talking about Bill, but yeah you could throw him in there too. Talking about Hilary....a woman so sketchy that the Americans felt Trump was more trustworthy.

Blanket statements are rarely true. This is yet another example.

Yet you make them all the time to paint anyone who is a Republican or a CPC member as a radical.  Weird double standard you got going.

She's not but whatever.

And, they didn't, which is why she got more votes.

Could you at least put this in the proper thread?

You honestly think this is true? People really think Democrats are "good guys"? There isn't a politician in this country or that country that I would trust with my 2004 ford focus. They're either corrupt, or too stupid to know they're about to be corrupt. **** the dems just as much as the Repubs.

Biden will join trump in hell (assuming there is one) when all is said and done.

Agreed. Both parties in the US . are lapdogs for the rich and powerful. Look what happened when Bernie ran on a platform of modest reforms that would bring the country into lockstep with most other nations. Millions poured into Hillary's campaign and she became the candidate. And promptly lost to Trump. There is no left and and right in the US .It's a morally, democraticly,  bankrupt system. And GCN20 is correct it is creeping into Canada and I would add many countries.

False. Democratic corruption? Absolutely.... but Trump and the GOP are orders of magnitude more corrupt.  Especially Trump. Like my God the guy is the physical embodiment of corruption.

Look...I don't deny that Trump is definitely a **** show of the highest order but I see him as an outlier really. He got to power because everyone hated Hilary. I don't think he will be the next GOP candidate for president and many of the emboldened wingnuts that emerged in the GOP will get push over to the Tea Party. However, Biden and Pelosi are **** shows too. It's not a peter measuring contest but I suppose if you wanted to compare then it is a worst state of affairs than I thought. I would hope at some point the people of the USA decide to do better, start a new party, and get rid of all these wingnuts. None of them deserve office.

Shock and awe politics. It's just gross to watch. US politics has become ultra partisan at the expense of the citizens because everyone is just making up bigger and bigger lies about each other.

He got there because the US is hole filled with horribly racist, misogynist, and selfish people. The system was corrupt and they allowed a foreign country to heavily influence their election.

Yep, he was able to feed off the worst in people for sure. No doubt about it.  A big part of the problem is the media in the US as well. They have broken into factions and aligned themselves along partisan lines and now there is no one calling a spade a spade, without another media outlet trying to run cover for their respective party. Fox, CNN...just two different sides of the same coin and it pushed the wingnuts and disenchanted out to the fake news and conspiracy theories and then you get the **** show that is US politics. Just a bunch of lies from both sides and no clear way of knowing who the hell is telling the truth, so a lot of people just start listening to who shouts the loudest....and then you get Trump reaffirming every wingnut thing they have been reading on Facebook and the stupid go along for the ride. Journalism is just as bad a cesspool now too and it's changed the way people decide elections really. It's no longer an informed and balanced decision...can't be...no gets an informed and balanced news source anymore. Thankfully, our media in Canada still has a certain amount of integrity compared to the US, but even here it's splitting.

Just as in Germany in the 1930s when people are desperate, lost, disenfranchised  they seek answers. They will clasp on to anything that promises a solution. And they like to find a scapegoat because no one likes to say it's their own fault . It could be Jews, immigrants, blacks, indigenous,  socialists, .....whoever is handy. Thats why Trump was elected as well as what you mentioned. There are deep seated reasons this is happening.

‘Neutrality, I’m a reasonable centrist, everyone is corrupt’ for some is the new cover for spewing out extremist views.

If you don't think both sides are corrupt. You are not paying attention. End of story. Some are far more blatant with their corruption...that does not excuse others who hide it.
