Is MOS Our Danny Barrett?

So Danny Barrett, heck of a nice guy, spent 3 years as a QB coach and then took over a really bad Saskatchewan Roughriders club. 2 pretty bad seasons to start things off. Then 5 years in the playoffs with essentially a .500 record and he's let go. Kent Austin comes in and gets them over the top.

MOS was a ST coach, takes over Winnipeg when we were really, really bad. 2 losing seasons to start. Then two years in the playoffs losing in round 1. Year 5 seems to be trending towards a .500 mark and a 1 and done in the playoffs.

So is MOS our Barrett?

O'Shea isn't showing he can win us a Grey Cup with some of the decisions he makes. For a guy with 5 1/2 seasons under his belt & he pulls a stunt like that? The handling of the Nichols/ Streveler

Fixed that for you.

Yes, the issue is that Bombers constantly regressing, giving up embarrassing losses, and generally never being considered as a contender has become old. The tolerance for this type of effort is running out.

I may disagree with the harping on Nichols but there's little doubt this fan base needs a championship. Pretty badly.

The Bomber malaise is not all on Nichols but in tough times, teams look to their leaders and that has to be Nichols, who is not doing well at the present. Some of the blame also has to fall on the defence as a whole and the coaches.

Team last year did not get deflated when things went awry during a game.

Not sure if this team is that way.

They kind of collapsed on Friday.

Re putting in Canadian receivers, seems like there might be an apprenticeship system here. player must be a backup for a season or two, then play.

Demski served his apprenticeship in Sask, so he gets to play. Peterman is doing his time now, whether or not he's ready, and maybe better than Lankford.

Might be a flaw for this system. Along with playing guys that clearly are not good enough, for unknown (to fans) reasons, that are never given publicly.

Agreed that experience is valuable for receivers, but Simonise's forte was supposed to be speed, and since some here were saying that we do not have the deep threat(s) we need, maybe he is an answer as a replacement for Lankford. Realistically, Lankford should not be that difficult to replace.

That was a pretty thorough ass kicking Friday night. Beaten in every way possible.

Agreed - you can't call out the fan base like that, even if some people were booing him. Just makes for an even more toxic environment next time things go south at home. I like what Harris had to say about Nichols' post-game comments:

“Shoot, that’s the way it is, man. Our fans are great. We love our fans, they expect winning football and that’s what they deserve. But Matt also deserves a lot of respect, a lot of credit and tonight, for whatever reason, he didn’t get that. But the whole offence deserved to be booed today, myself included.” (Source: https://www.bluebombers.com/2018/08/19/upon-review-ott-44-wpg-21/)

At least Harris is owning the fact the offense was a big reason for the loss Friday.

Barrett didnt get pushed out of the cfl though. He left for greener pastures down south. Some cushy college jobs (realistically college jobs are the best positions in all of football for a coach imo) then the NFL. he could be a head coach in the cfl if he wanted.

Most isnt barrett, but they are similar types of coaches and people. And frankly Im good with that comparison.
